Chris, I know you don't respond to KZbin remarks, but I hope you'll get to see this. We met briefly a few weeks ago in Kanab, UT at the RV Corral. I intended to come by and chat a little more but by the time I got around to it, you and Shannon had already moved on. I just want to reiterate what I told you then. You've inspired me and I'm sure many of your viewers to pursue their dreams of an adventurous life, to whatever degree feels right. As always, thanks for sharing your travels and experiences in your uniquely authentic way. Maybe our paths will serendipitously cross again some day. Until then, safe travels!

Inspired me as well. I now have a Jeep Rubicon JKU for traveling off the beaten path. It seemed I was living vicariously in Chris' videos!
@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI3 жыл бұрын
Same here! I’ve owned JKU Rubicon’s in the past but never realized their full overlanding potential with the Ursa Minor. I have now sold/traded three of my vehicles just to get back into one solid JKUR with a roof rack and roof top tent for now, until I can someday afford an Ursa Minor.

A lot of this change in direction is due to me discovering Chris’ channel. I’ve also changed my filming style and now document almost any of our family trips/adventures. My hard drive space has expanded tenfold. Lol!

For me, Chris has inspired fond memories. I’m 69 y/o. When I was 16 I had a 1941 CJ 2A and it was orange. I did not see the world like Chris but that little 4 cylinder got me all over Colorado! I appreciate all that Chris does.

Chris - We are long time followers as well as long time Jeepers. So sorry about Orangy but we will look forward to the grand return. We had a 2000 TJ as well as a 2001TJ for 20 years and recently got a new Rubicon and you are welcome to use it until Orangy is ready. Really we are serious! We also have a Revel on order and it should finally be arriving next week - we can’t wait! We live in Reno and can’t believe you were just here in our neck of the woods and we did not get to see you. We literally live about five miles from the Home Depot where you were at and it would have been so fun to see you. Also glad to finally actually see Shannon on the videos. Those folks who are commenting that they don’t like the addition of the van to the channel are certainly free to tune in to something else. . . or maybe they just don’t get it . . . we understand your concept of having the van as a basecamp and using the Jeep for exploration . . . that is exactly what our plans are. We love your laidback attitude and your style and always enjoy watching your videos and seeing where your travels have taken you. Keep up the good work! Happy Thanksgiving to you & Shannon.

I’m a moto guy so it’s easy for me to say this, but if I were in your situation I might pick up a little dual sport to get me away from the van while orangey is getting fixed up. A little Honda 250L would set you back maybe $5k but you could sell it down the road for almost that.

To replace Orangey I'd look for low miles JKU Rubicon 2017-2018 and transfer all the gear. Here in South Florida there are tons of Jeeps (mall crawlers) that have never been off-road or ever driven in 4WD.
@larrydowns62673 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly what I did in Tampa Florida. Found a one owner 2015 JKRU with 37,000 miles on it, transferred all my gear off my high miles 2014 JKRU. After selling my 2014, I had $8,000 in the swap and a Jeep that was like new!

Crate motor is the best option, or you could have them put a small cummins in it, your travel range with your large fuel tank would be amazing
@irishdefense773 жыл бұрын
Then he would have to change out the fuel tank too-diesel is not compatible with gasoline-and a tank that’s had gas in it won’t work for diesel.

In interesting that a new timing chain will only last a few years. Doesn’t make sense. Or they just want to spend the time in a new chain and making sure it works. I still have my YJ just replaced the head (long story). In my case parts are getting hard to find. I have an alternate Jeep, a 2021 JL 2dr that I ordered, I like my hardtop, I carry cameras so like to keep them. I have the 4:1 T-SHIRT and the 8 speed trans. I have etorque engine which is the same except with 24 valves. It is fast and gets crazy gas mileage. Well hope to see Orangey back after Christmas.

I'd just replace the timing chains, tensioners and guides and the water pump if it's internal. Your main, rod and camshaft bearings are probably fine as well as your pistons and heads and it really shouldn't take more than a day.
