It was a surprise to hear this song composed by Gopala Krishna Bharathi, in the ragam Jonpuri, sung by Vasanthakokilam in a 1941 Film, Venugananm. Vasanthakokilam was a versatile singer of Carnatic Songs, whose life was cut short by ill health. This song is very popular even now, and we can see almost all the top Carnatic Vidwans singing this popular song, available on KZbin. However, the Original Song composed by Gopala Krishna Bharathi, a Contemporary and friend of Thyagarajar, was in praise of Lord Chidambaranathar or Natarajar. In this Film, Venuganam, the song has been adapted to suit the story, and the song is in praise of Paranthaman of Dwaraka!
