"Repulsive" "Offensive" "Lewd" "Satanic", Etc...that was all the parents when Zepplin released this one--They even boycotted thier concerts --"They're corrupting our children with this sinful garbage, Blah, blah, blah". They couldn't stop it, though--the Zepplin was in full flight, kicking off the new sound known as "Arena Rock"

Well, there seems to be certain theme running through the comments here. Gentlemen of a certain age, who have been listening to Zeppelin for half a century, and who are absolutely delighted to find a young woman listening to them for the first time and being blown away. Verdy, you are quickly becoming my most favorite reactor on YT. I was a sophomore in High School when this album debuted, and I have enjoyed this music for a lifetime. The whole reason I watch reactors to music is to see the spark of enjoyment that I remember when I first heard this music. Your honest reaction is so satisfying and pure joy to behold. You really have a connection to this music, and I am happy to see young people of your generation appreciate what we now refer to as "Classic Rock". For me and a large number of people it is the soundtrack of our lives. Thank you, keep rocking and uncovering these gems.

I find it amusing when the young people are exposed to stereo. Today's youth get most of their music in digital version through inadequate single speakers. They are missing so much when they listen to classics. Even todays ear pods cannot equal a great 70's era home stereo with great speakers. At least many are exploring the greats.

Finally, a true reaction channel. It's refreshing to see someone reacting to MUSIC. I've been getting tired of reactors trying to break down and analyze lyrics and interpret what the song is about, while ignoring what's going on, musically. I've been a hard-core led zep fan for 50 years and i still don't know half of what RP is talking about. But it doesn't matter because the music is what's important.

That wacky noise in the middle of Whole Lotta Love is Jimmy Page playing a device called the Theremin. Used alot in science fiction movies. The "old door" sound is pick scratching with echo. @@screamindeacon no doubt. The more I listen to Led Zeppelin the more I notice JPJ's contribution. Can see why he is still in high demand as an arranger and producer and his career after LZ was much more varied than Page's. Page couldn't find the right combination to form a new band after The Firm and seemed satisfied in working on the LZ legacy. Have to admit that I was shocked when Jones wasn't invited to be part of the Page and Plant disc and tour but they seemed happy enough together after the London concert later. Plant's post LZ career worked out nicely as well but it was obvious he was going tin a different direction to the other two.

I remember my dad bringing home our first stereo around 63, 64. It came with a stereo experience album which I still have. It featured many left to right examples, helicopter sounds etc. We also got Harry Belafonte Live at Carnegie Hall, Herb Alpert and Tijuana Brass and a few others. The Belafonte album is still one of my all time favorites though I quickly gravitated to Rock and Roll.

I love on the lemon song how they transition into the "killing floor" by Howlin' Wolf. John Paul Jones is a master bass player.

"Whole Lotta Love" was the first Zeppelin song I heard. I was a young teenager riding in the back seat of our '69 Ford Custom 500, and when that song came on the radio, I literally stood up in the car with my mouth hanging open. I couldn't help it.

I have a particularly fond memory of the release of this album... my friend George and I got a hold of some "double barrel sunshine", went out speeding around Reynold's Channel (L.I.) in his little boat, while listening to this for the very first time. What a musical trip!

Zep really made use of the new-fangled stereo effect on 'Whole Lotta Love', panning the sounds left and right continually to produce something very new and exciting. One of the most famous Rock songs ever...although just about every track on this perfect album is a classic. Another great reaction and, as always, great appreciation of all the musicians and the music they created.

The tandem Bonham (drum) and John Paul Jones (bass) in the middle of 'Lemon Song' is pure musical bliss that if it were hours just of more of this, I would be totally fine listening. I can't think of one Hard Rock musician who was not influenced by this album.

"The Lemon Song" is actually a cover of a song by Chicago blues great Howlin' Wolf. "Killing Floor" is a 1964 song by American blues singer-songwriter and guitarist Howlin' Wolf. Called "one of the defining classics of Chicago electric blues" "Killing Floor" became a blues standard with recordings by various artists. It has been acknowledged by the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame, which noted its popularity among rock as well as blues musicians. English rock group Led Zeppelin adapted the song for their "The Lemon Song", for which Howlin' Wolf is named as a co-author.

The Lemon part comes from Robert Johnson's " Travelling Riverside Blues" (1937), "You're Gonna Miss Me" part, was ( I think) from Muddy Waters. A lot of Howlin Wolf's songs were written by session Bass player, and Chess Records producer, Willie Dixon.

One of the many British bands that reintroduced Black (electrified) Blues to the United States (and the world). What a revelation to the listening public with LZ 1 and then this explosion of head-bangin' music in LZ 2. ICONIC. Cymbals, tom-toms, Bonzo was a master of all percussion. And who doesn't love JPJ's BASS LINE?! Then the hyper lead guitar by Page. How have our ears withstood this onslaught for all these years?! A band that was NOT AFRAID OF BASS PASSAGES. Love it!!! Drums: John Bonham. Lead Guitar: Jimmy Page. Bass: John Paul Jones. Vocals: Robert Plant.

I was 17 when this came out. The airwaves were full of fantastic music. This is a sample of what you could hear. The best way to listen to Zeppelin is, to begin with, album 1 track 1 and work your way to the last track of the last album. You won't find any bad songs.

I carried around well folded ten bucks in my jeans pocket for about three weeks waiting to buy this album when it was released. Everyday at school lunchtime, rain or shine, my mates and I would run five blocks to the drug store that sold albums. Oh the disappointment when we wouldn't find it. The first album was such a revelation that we couldn't wait for more. The day it arrived and we saw it in the rack is a day fifty three years later I haven't forgot. With all that anticipation, the album did not disappoint and I wore it out as I did all their albums. That album to this day is on my album shelf. What great time to grow up.

Damn, I forgot how good Side 1 was. Can't wait to see you react to the first two songs of Side 2 in particular. Love your analysis, keep up the good work. One side note, when I hear the bass and keyboards, I think what an unsung hero and secret weapon John Paul Jones is. Never gets as much credit as the other 3, but so instrumental to the greatness of the final product.

PLEASE PLEASE, stay away from drugs, cigarettes, you are such a wonderful young woman, your enthusiasm, your sheer joy lights up your face.
