Vermithor and his beloved mate Silverwing are my favorites. It's theorized that Vermithor is the son of Vhagar. Vhagar is described as bronze with greenish blue highlights. Vermithor was a bronze dragon. Both their names start with V. George never spoke about the dragons' family tree so don't know for sure.

Vermithor is likely the same breed as Vhagar, that being the t-rex skull breed. To explain the t-rex skull breed, it’s mainly based on the shape of the snout, more rounded and larger nostrils (similar to a t-rex’s snout). I doubt it’s that breed that specifically has the aspect of dragons growing abnormally large. A dragon’s growth is dependent on their environment: if they grow in a large, open area, they’ll grow to be massive, and won’t stop growing. If they grow in a small, enclosed area, they’ll be no larger than what they surround. Vhagar is massive because she was facilitated in an open area most of time, and that was likely the case for Vermithor before his rider’s death. Going back to one of the 3 breeds, the wolf breed refers to the similar head shape and muzzle that breed of dragon shares with wolves. The dragon’s spikes/horns resembling the mane around a wolf’s head and the muzzle (the area that’s above their jaw, between their eyes and snout). Balerion is likely from the wolf skull breed, same case for Meleys, Dreamfyre, Caraxes, and Drogon. To mention, Caraxes is deformed, which is why he’s so elongated and has a pair of hind wings, but he still maintains the wolf skull feature. As for the horse skull breed, it pertains to the long skull that horses have, so the dragon that would match is Syrax, her head accurately resembles a horse’s head. I don’t believe each breed has a distinct trait to which enforces the reason to be bred. I’m pretty sure they’re just considered that type of breed depending on their skull shape. If they were though, I believe the t-rex skull dragons would be bred for raw, brutal strength and bite force. T-rexes are known to be one of the most powerful apex predators this world has ever seen, mainly for the fact of their powerful jaws, with a tremendous bite force that killed prey with a single bite. If we apply that reasoning to Vhagar’s case, it would make sense, granted, Arrax was a small, younger dragon, but the single bite she did completely mangled and destroyed his body. The wolf skull breed would’ve been bred for combat and pure firepower. Just look at Drogon when he decimates the Iron Fleet and destroys King’s Landing, it’s like a land of fire. Another example is Arrax, when he hit Vhagar with that cloud of fire, it was surprisingly massive for the size he was. Also, the wolf skull breed has hardened scales/spikes covering their chest, protecting them from non-scorpion bolt fire, perfect for combat if a dragon has natural armor. Also, it’s something I noticed that Vhagar doesn’t have, alluding to being a different breed. And lastly, the horse skull breed was likely bred for travel and agility, like some horses in real life. Not strictly bred for combat or strength, but for endurance, stamina, and agility during flight. Probably being the breed of dragon that could fly the longest distances and travel without tiring as fast when it came to the other dragons. And it seems so, as Rhaenyra would spend so much time flying Syrax that she would reek of dragon when returning. It all is quite interesting when it comes to the depth of design of the dragons, each dragon having a distinct physical difference that gives off the notion of individuality. I’m glad the show runners made this decision. Edit: Added further explanation as to why the horse skull dragon breed might’ve been bred for long distance travels; Rhaenyra mention.
