T.k. Loves his new momma❤ He just thought he was going to climb, but NoPe! Back in the snuggles of Momma Martha😊 After all the rescues, the long process of restoring them back to health, it's fun watching them hop around like babies should.😍 My favorite part is the introductory of baby, and mommas❤❤❤ I appreciate you all's hard work, and love that you put into it. ? How exciting to see these little ones being cared for and getting them ready to meet new moms. Once again thank you again for what you all do caring for the baby monkeys that have lost their moms, some are physically injured blind or permanent brain damaged. Thank you Dave for keeping the VMF running and not giving up when you don't have enough help. Dave you have a heart of gold with all you do. ❤

I know foster moms aren't lactating, but do the babies try to suckle coff them? Macque babies also use teats as a pacifier too. Do these babies do that?

Quick question, do the babies stay with the adopted moms because I’ve seen other videos where the non-mother will drag the baby monkey around and basically mistreat them. I was also wondering how they get fed if the mothers don’t have breastmilk. Oh, and I’m glad there’s people like you in the world because I don’t think I could stay up with a monkey and feed it every three hours! You guys are great!

Yes they usually stay, but sometimes once they’re out in the troop they meet another mum they bond with better. If the mistreatment you’re referring to is by the temple macaques, that’s a completely unnatural environment, with so much human interference from channel owners dumping juveniles to VOs overfeeding them and manipulating them to create drama, that they don’t have a good grasp of monkey society and etiquette. By contrast, at the VMF, the staff are careful to respect the troop dynamics when deciding where to place the babies. In regards to feeding, the goal of the “feeding cage” procedure is to teach babies how and where to get milk. You’ll notice there are holes to get in and out of the feeding cage, and this is to keep juveniles and older monkeys out, and to create a stress free zone for babies to drink. The babies are also not released into the troop until they are 3 months old, as this is the age that mums will let babies run around by themselves, and they can run to the feeding cage to get milk. Every troop enclosure has feeding cages along the outside fences, that staff can monitor and replenish without going into the enclosure, as the aim is to keep the monkeys as wild as possible with the least amount of human interaction. As you said, the mums don’t have breastmilk, so it’s critical that babies learn the feeding cage and are old enough when released. You’ll also see babies suckling from mum even though there’s no milk, for comfort and bonding. 😊🐒💕

The videos you see where the mothers drag their babies around is another kind of monkey called macaques which live in Southeast Asia. They are harassed and abused by people who video them for money. That is not the case with the VMF in South Africa. As to how the babies get milk, they are taught to drink from bottles in feeding cages which they enter voluntarily. Watch the VMF videos and you'll see how these wonderful people do it

Monkeys are very hierarchical and sometimes a higher ranking female can steal a baby from a lower ranking mother. The mother can only hope for her baby to escape or for the other female to let the baby go again. They also use “nannies” so another female can take care of a baby for a while to give mom a break. Don’t trust what you might see on Asian monkey channels. They’re known to manipulate the monkeys to get footage. E.g. they’ll put a foreign baby on a female and she’ll fight it off very strongly because the baby isn’t hers. With the VMF you’ll often hear them explain how it’s a delicate process to introduce babies and foster moms to each other. You can’t just dump a baby in a troop because monkeys will attack strangers. As for feeding: You can see how the caretakers train/struggle with the babies to teach them how to use the feeding cages and the milk bottles. These cages are also outside in the main enclosures so the babies can feed themselves once they’re with their new moms and troops.

The put feeding cages out with the troops after the babies have found their foster moms and moved out. They go to the cages and drink there until they get enough food from foraging.

How do you know IF a foster Mom is ready for or WANTS an orphan? This question needs to be answered.

their behavior tells you. if a mom walks out of the cage after meeting it could mean she didnt connect with the baby. if a mom keeps wanting to hold a baby and tries non stop to take the baby then that mom is ready and wants the baby.

I do not know if this question has been asked and answered but why do you not use preemie pacifiers to replace the finger sucking which I know is a sign of stress from not naturally being with it's mother.

I've never seen them do that, probably because once the go into troop, they can't have objects, otherwise creates an issue.

And this why I love watching this channel and the work they do, from rescuing the orphans, caring for them tenderly and expertly and then when the timing is right, trying to find an adoptive mother for them so they can be released back into their natural habitat for a second chance at the life they were naturally meant to have. These babies were not meant to live in human homes but I do know what you mean and if I were younger, I would absolutely go out there to volunteer, cuddling and comforting the babies as much as I could, while understanding that it's important for them not to get too acclimated to and dependent on humans. I think it would be a beautiful and rewarding experience that I would remember for the rest of my life.

Love this channel and these people are great but one thing that bugs me TK id all hugged up to his mommy like she said he loves his baby very much then they throw the other baby in them he’s stuck standing there like heck just happened mom ran of with the other baby. But the other one comes along n snatched him up. This happens a lot I see them lose mom and become moms back pack. I think that’s very sad. They need to fix that somehow
