Oh dear lord. At an intensive acting camp when I was 14, the director told me to imagine my cat about to get hit by a car and the most desperately and passionately I screamed his name would save his life. I had to do it over and over again for several minutes. That was a physically and emotionally painful exercise, and I can’t remember what the other 18 acting-class people had to do, but it wasn’t that at all. Some of them comforted me after. It did help my passion, but I didn’t get a role that I was supposed to be THAT distraught in. And they certainly wouldn’t make the Musical Theater or Dance classes do that. No, my hot director made me, the youngest in the whole camp, scream for my dying cat (I still have him. He’s 13.) for many minutes just crying and potentially wrecking my voice. I weirdly appreciate that experience. But to have Gary Vee tell me one of my loved ones has been shot in the face and there’s no hope of screaming for those 5 minutes to “Life Is Strange” replay that moment until I could stop it. That… He talks about finance and crypto, right? There’s no reason for this. This isn’t a cult or acting training.
