I bought two bulls from Watson this year. 18 and 30 months. Both ended up with foot issues. Probably because of our hilly and rocky terrain. Beautiful animals with great temperaments.

I'm glad you include trips to the vet on your channel. They're interesting & informative. They show that there's a lot to consider before owning farm animals (or any animal, really). You have to be aware of behaviors & costs associated with care. Some can own & raise successfully while others (most of us) should leave it to the local farmers and buy meat from them. God bless and thank you.

@nctplarryАй бұрын
Man, this was just plain WONDERFUL!!! And, it brought back SO many memories of my days growing up on our registered Jersey farm in Northeast Mississippi. And, yes...we had bulls, too. I remember good old Jess who my brother, David, and I raised from a calf...and he was just like a family pet--for quite a while--until that day that he realized he was a big Jersey bull and needed to show us who's boss. Thank goodness, I had a pitch fork nearby, because that's the only thing I believe would have stopped him. Man, he was snorting snot and pawing the ground because he was frustrated at that time. A great lesson learned. We enjoyed having him for several years and he never tried attacking me again, but I quit treating him like a pet puppy. Also, I really enjoyed watching Dr. Mike. Our farm was just over the hill from the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine--one of the premier vet schools in the whole Southeast US. Shoot, I was walking through the vet school one day and saw a giraffe! It had been brought to the vet school from the zoo in Jackson, MS (about 125 miles away). But, that really startled me when I saw that. Another time, I was in the vet school building and when I rounded the corner, there was a Bengal Tiger in a sling--fully sedated, of course. Another zoo creature that the vets at MSU were treating. Perhaps the most "fun" animals I saw there were the horses that belonged to actor Morgan Freeman. He is such a really nice man and was always welcome when he visited MSU. Never pretentious, but he wanted the best care for his beautiful horses. All that is to say that I am so thankful y'all got Watson cared for so well. I'll bet that he'll be hopping around in no time...and "servicing" those cattle like the good bull he is. High fives for a job supremely well done, Kevin and Sarah (or, better yet, Sarah and Kevin--now, that is the correct sequence -- Ha!)! ~ Dr. Larry S. Anderson • Tupelo, MS (birthplace of Elvis)

Nice video. We've dealt with lame cattle way more than we care to admit. We believe it was from vitamin, mineral imbalances. Didn't see any mineral feeders around the cows or the steers. In sheer desperation we switched to the same mineral system that Greg Judy utilizes. it'll be 4 months the 12th of November. Very positive results with our herd.

One thing from watching quite a few homesteading channels. Is that the folks who care for their animals like you folks do. Are the ones who have successful homestead's. Yes there is the reality of farm animal life. But the respect and care you give them is what they need. Hope he heals well and is a speedy recovery. Thank you for caring. Plus, he special. A custom boot. Sweet boy Watson.

l am happy to hear you use caution with the bull, its been on my mind several times to reach out to you to always use caution! My daughters father-in law was killed by what was a pet bull ,they had the bull a year and he had always been a pet, but he was alone fixing fence and this bull attacked him and he tried to get away, but he could'nt and the bull ground his body into the dirt over and over! Stan's 90 year old father drove upon the the bull killing his son,but he was helpless, he tried to drive his truck and get between his son and the bull,but he couldn't and the bull didn't stop until a neighbor arrived and shot the bull! Stan died a horrible death! He had been around cattle his entire life!
