God, Benny is, without a doubt, one of the best to ever do it. Still, to this day, one of the best experiences of my life was taking a master class from him in 2015. He is just as amazing of a human being as he a drummer.

They are all truly awesome and to compare them is impossible but for all intents and purposes, i believe youre right.

Yeah, I should have phrased that differently, "better" is a pretty objective word and I'm trying to be subjective. Talent isn't very quantifiable and when it comes down to it it's mostly personal preference, all the drummers mentioned are amazing.

Well, it's an original song by Benny (called "Grebfruit") but this particular arrangement was done by Sput Searight who also plays keys here, too. The amazing guitar solo in the middle is Mark Lettieri. Sput and Mark are both semi-permanent members of Snarky Puppy. There's your connection and also why you're getting those vibes. If you haven't already found them, Zildjian has a drum series, with a very similar setup to these VF Jams videos, called "Zildjian LIVE!" that released over the course of 2019. Sput was also tasked to put together the house band for that series as well, and instead of assembling a group like he did here, he decided to just use his current band called Ghost-Note, which he formed with another Snarky Puppy alumni, Nate Werth. Mono Neon is also their bass player, so it's pretty amazing. Anyway, you should go check out those videos if you haven't already.

Silences inside the drumming is delivering soo much better tension , musicality and coherence than every high speed fill in this video . This is why silences are so important . A few drummers plays silences and this is also why most of the time the drumming is getting boring .

I do feel really bad about my self thinking. That the Japan Girl Drummer was extreme sauce which she is 100% not going to lie. & put down's are not really a great way of saying that girl's are better then boy's on drum's The drummer's i put down which is Thomas Lang Baard Kolsatd Ryuga from Japan 2014 drum solo & Benny Greb Eric Moore Tony Royster JR & my self D.R i just can't help it the Seri the Japan Girl is Extreme Sauce. & now i have really done :-( :-(. I guess i was just having a really bad day. & those people i listed in the comment above are Legend's except me, which i still have a long way to go name D.R. I mainly hope my 10 year old Niece get's really far in her Drumming :-) .

Kind of would be more fitting of a circus performance to impress the audience with the artistic abilities of a performer. Nothing I could ever enjoy listening to for pure pleasure in private and certainly no one will be listening back to this in like 20 years.... Overplayed, oversounding and ego focused. There really is no need to play the snare in a big band arrangement with the smack of a Nirvana song. Benny is the drummer I would rate most highly currently, but he should be careful not to turn himself into just another Kenny Aranov trying to impress as an individual in a band like setting. Charlie Antonioni would have suited this role here waaaay better and he is not a shy player! The kind of applause the band get afterwards is telling me that the audience honours the performance and playing ability rather than the actual music. This all seems where a ‘me’ centred generation is heading to and music and especially jazz and progressiv metal is clearly affected by this.

@@drummerjc5 - it was played to a piece of written music. It's was hurtfully overplayed... I rate Greb as one of the best but there is too much ego in performances like this.. Buddy Rich certainly was not shy but still was more part of the 'whole'. Anyway that's my opinion.

It is literally drumming for drums sake and to impress people (and bolster the ego), why even include a big band to make them sound your serves? I would have actually enjoyed it for what it is if it was played as a solo piece. That's why I say, perfect for a circus tent artist performance with a spotlight on ;-) And again I respect Greb as one of the greatest of today's players ...

Listen to the studio version. It’s probably much more to your taste. This is a video in a series created by a drum channel to showcase talented drummers. Of course he’s gonna play in a soloistic way
