I was thinking the same, like is this foreshadowing? Cause it seems completely plausible now.
@neoqueto
@neoqueto 2 жыл бұрын
Actually it doesn't sound that crazy, Cameron is a busy dude, especially around now while he's promoting Avatar 2, but he's a down to earth guy, he has great respect for passionate people in the industry, he probably would be into this kind of stuff. Besides... This channel is a medium for like-minded people, we're all interested in VFX, we're probably all at least a little bit curious about that and other aspects of Avatar 2, so him appearing on the couch to promote it, to dissect the visual effects and cinematography of his newest film and perhaps older ones too makes quite a bit of sense.
@christianstoneroussesu4584
@christianstoneroussesu4584 2 жыл бұрын
@@neoqueto it makes perfect sense... which is why that wouldn’t happen. At best James Cameron comes on the show as a guest a few years from now if corridor keeps gaining notoriety. But they won’t have a promotional spot because of industry gate keeping.
@for_fox_aches
@for_fox_aches 2 жыл бұрын
 @Christian Stone Roussesu Politics aside, I was just saying that it didn't *sound* crazy. Months or years make no matter, the fact that it's plausible now is huge when you consider that they are just a bunch of guys who decided to start a KZbin channel.

TBH they were being a little too harsh on themselves: They've improved so much over the years, but their first videos weren't too far off from those scenes, and we all loved them anyway! Jim Cameron in the 80s was a MASTER of seamless in-camera VFX and that's why ALIENS holds up better than films even 10+ years after. The combo of animatronics, rear-projection in camera, stop-motion used strategically... all these different techniques work perfectly together to sell so much realism that most films completely fail to capture.

Cameron is probably my favorite director. He puts a lot of soul and care into his works, loves to push the envelope one way or another (practically or digitally), but also you can tell that he has so much fun doing filmmaking, back then and even now after all those years. The *last agni kai fight from ATLA* would be perfect for for the Animators React. It's so stunning! For the VFX series you gotta react to *Aslan from the Chronicles of Narnia!* Also at the end of second one there's a big water creature, so it might be cool to see what you think about that. Maybe also, Max Schneider's Gibberish music video, the editing kinda breaks my brain there. And for stuntmen react It would be cool to see you react to the duel from "Potop", it's really good sword fight (tho technically it's sabers i think)

If you freeze a frame of Samuel Jackson before he's taken under the water, the VFX people put a little joke in there. You can see that Jackson is SMILING before he's taken under. Take a look, I laughed my butt of when I saw that.

I think the reason The Frighteners CG effects worked so well was precisely because Jackson stylized everything, making the whole movie feel like a horror comic book on screen. That way, when the CG looks "unrealistic" it still fits the movie itself, and so your sense of disbelief doesn't really kick in as such.

Hi guys! Great video! In the It Follows segment @ 3:52 you can see the kid--after he hits the invisible subject with the lawn chair--he's leaning slightly forward toward the subject, and there is tension on the back of his jacket. He is clearly being pulled backward in a quasi ratchet pull gag, and they likely did some fx to blur him and make him fly back further and faster.

A suggestion for animators react: Coraline (2009). It has sort of Tim Burton style stop motion animation. The details are really well done compared to other animated movies at that time.

The scenes from Dark Island looked really good, amazing considering you were in College at the time. The only "error" in the scene you showed when the bullets go through the pipes, was the direction of the peel of the holes. They were ripped the opposite direction to the bullet travel. Awesome work.

Thank you SO MUCH for finally looking at "The Frighteners". It's amazing to see what they did so early in film cgi.

I love the movie and it's the closest thing we got to a "Jaws" like movie experience. And because of how bad the SFX was, it was hard to take it seriously. But if you look past that, it's a pretty good movie!

They didn’t even mention the specks of sand that fly off the CGI chair that he hits her with. I’m kinda surprised I noticed something VFX artist didn’t mention. Gives it that little extra bump in continuity. I love you guys’ videos. 😊☺️
