@@flaviusbelisarius7517 It's called 'trigger happiness'. Same thing happened in WW II with amatuer soldiers to the point where it became an extensively researched topic. It really boils down to training and proper discipline within the unit. One of the reasons for it could be that they're scared, so instead of actually engaging the enemy he just lets them know "hey! we're here, we see you and we've got more weapons than you." Same reason why someone might wanna keep them at pointystick distance instead of knife distance. With the knife someone's getting hurt, with the stick the option of retreat is left open. The likeliness of those bullets doing anything to the enemy is probably close to the likeliness that they fly over to the next village and hits a farmer.

Paul Arias We really need to be raising the bar for civilizations if this place qualifies. Pretty sure a couple hundred years ago they were under Timurid rule, but we only believe what we can see, yes? And maybe the Mughals and Persians before that. I think even Alexander the Great got in on that action. It's not hard when everyone's killing each other over what they think their God wants. It's not racist to be disdainful for a disunified people when a large portion of them adhere to heretical teachings of Islam like Wahabit. The way Afghanistan is now: they have no place in the international community. We should've let Russia kill off those boy fuckers 40-50 years ago.

I felt bad for Major Steuber. You can tell during the visit by the ambassador that he wanted to speak up and tell the truth about how horrible it was all going, but due to military protocol you generally don't say anything unless asked. You can just see the distress in his eyes. This is what irritates me when people claim that we never cared about being over there, and that we were somehow there to exploit the country and its resources. Overarching policy, perhaps, but many of our soldiers on the ground truly believed in the mission. It's sickening that so much blood and treasure has been lost to this ultimately pointless war.

That man gave an impassioned plea for those village elders to join him, and it was well constructed, and crafted to his audience. It takes a long time to teach someone how to do that. My friend stationed there who just came home told me a story of how bad it is over there.... And quote: "By far the poorest country on earth, I was called on a walk about for a missing child. We rolled up to a Cesspool and I saw that the child was face down dead in a pile of shit in the pool. I walked chest deep into the shit to pull this dead child out by his legs. By the time we got to the father's house we had learned that the father killed the child cause he was tired of hearing him whining from an ear ache. He didn't know what to do so the father killed him and threw him in the cesspool".

If you ask me, I say we get all our boys home and those idiots down there can quite frankly go and f.... OEF veteran here (two tours in Iraq). If I ever give advice to a young person about joining the US military, it will be "make sure you're fighting for something worthwhile". Neither this nor Iraq were worth the time, money, and loss of life. I lost friends out there in Iraq. And what do we have to show for it? Not a damn thing; just like Vietnam. The people have to want the change.

It's amazing, you can visibly see the difference between the corrupt soldiers and the ones who actually care. The dodgy security forces are unkempt, covered in grime, have tatty uniforms and look permanently strung out and apathetic. Then you see the guys who are training hard and trying to guard their nation and they are neat, clean and alert.

The only thing that has evolved is the unproven theory of evolution. Islam is based on the Qur'an, on the life of Pedophile Mohammed. Nothing to 'evolve' to when you belong to a murderous enslaving rape cult.

Panshir hasn't fallen ? It's hard to find detailed information about Afghanistan, but I assumed that since both Kunduz and the Afghan-Tajik border are in the hands of the Talibans, even that region would have been taken.

Azeem Ch no the reason these people have problems is honour killing, bacha bati (touching kids), torture of women and not to mention the multiple Islamic extremist groups that are mass murdering there own countrymen just for their religious/sexual/political views. Yeah the pentagon is definitely the problem 👍
