@@Beauloqs The only one getting hurt in a collision with that pirate ship is himself. If you're speaking about his content in general, it's not like a 5 year old would understand the mechanics or lack there of. It's just videos about a dude cranking on cars that a dad and his young son enjoy watching together. What's to hate about that?
@truedox
@truedox Жыл бұрын
@@Beauloqs You are really stretching there. If you paid attention at all you would see that the car's brake work to stop the car so the scenario that you made up doesn't even apply. And "Someone like him"? This is someone who fixes these cars so they can be road worthy. He is not the type of person who drives this kind of car daily and can't be bothered to fix it.

I had the head gasket thought ealier on when you pressed down on the radiator cap and the hissing got quieter. Was thinking that's not right, thats a lot of air pressure built up in a fluid zone. Throw a match on it and start from scratch. Step 1, Don't use something sooo prone to moisture absorption as MDF. That stuff wicks up every drop of moisure and swells sooo bad.

The good ol 3100.. they started that series of engine in 95. Thats all i run in my derby cars. This one had a huge vacuum leak which is usually just past the throttle body in the upper plenum. Its a vacuum for the valve covers and something else that i forget because i weld that hole shut along with the egr port. They are amazing engines as long at the fueling is correct and it has good intake gaskets. Ive overheated mine a couple times and its still doing well. Derek, I have rescued/gotten running and taken home quite a few vehicles that sat for a long time myself over the years as a bona fide car/truck guy. One thing I always took with me when I went to buy or pick one up I had already bought was large packs of unscented baby wipes (Walgreens, yellow soft-pack, 500 count I think, $1.99-$2.99, dirt cheap) to quickly "dust" and clean up the inside after hitting it with a shop vac. Unscented baby wipes don't make the interior smell like baby lotion, they are already the right amount lightly wet and they don't tear or leave little pieces like a lot of paper towels do...and you just toss 'em when they turn black or brown. You might consider trying it one of these times to see if you think it's a simple, useful, vehicle-rescue tip. A bonus of having unscented baby wipes with you is they are great for quickly wiping your hands, wrists, arms off while working on the rig and on the way home. ;)

The 3100 engine was a great engine. The Chevrolet Lumina had a 3100 160hp which was good for the 1990's. 3.1 L/3100 L82 The L82 ("M-code") was an updated, SFI replacement for the MPFI LH0, produced from 1993 through 1999. It featured a structural oil pan, a stiffer redesigned engine block, sequential fuel injection, and revised aluminum heads. Output for the L82 was up 20 hp (15 kW), over the previous Gen II LH0, to 160 hp (119 kW) at 5200 rpm and 185 lb⋅ft (251 N⋅m) at 4000 rpm. Compression ratio for the L82 was 9.5:1 and the bore measured 89 mm (3.5 in), while the stroke was 84 mm (3.31 in) giving it a displacement of 3.1 L; 191.3 cu in (3,135 cc). Applications: 1994-1999 Buick Century 1994-1996 Buick Regal 1994-1998 Buick Skylark 1994-1996 Chevrolet Beretta 1994-1996 Chevrolet Corsica 1995-1999 Chevrolet Lumina 1997-1999 Chevrolet Malibu 1995-1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1994-1998 Oldsmobile Achieva 1997-1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass GLS 1994-1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera 1993-1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (1993 received both LH0 and L82 3.1 L (3,135 cc) motors) 1994-1998 Pontiac Grand Am 1994-1999 Pontiac Grand Prix I bet when it was parked it already had a blown head gasket-gaskets.

What a thought provoking video. I'm a fan of Wikispeed. It's a modular car made of aluminum tubing. Having seen this, I might just build one out of 4 x 4 wood posts and plywood. Might not use the 3.1 liter GM engine. True to form, your car's engine was garbage. At least the cam didn't break. Now I just need to draw it on Sketchup and go to town.

The Lumbarghini wasn't that bad, it had bigger opening door windows, more storage, better parts availability, better door fitment and body panel gaps than the original. I'm impressed you managed to coach it as far as you did. Trips like this are an experience, if it got you home without issue that would be boring, the fact that it broke down so often meant that you got to meet so many nice people who were willing to help. If it got you home you would never have met them.

Definitely one of the best drive it home episodes so far on the channel. The mid engine AMC was a complete gong show of a car, but this one set the bar even higher. I thought for a minute you might just go for a road side head gasket replacement. Probably not worth it at all being only a couple hundred miles from home.
