I think its great they got these two back, the 60s companions seem to get largely forgotten (only jamie and zoe seem to be popular) but vicki was the second companion after ian and barbara left so its great the actress who probably thought this little show would never be around now nearly 60 years after she was on it not only is still around but remembers her part in it as the girl who followed susan.
@mrcritical67518 ай бұрын
Sadly her exit from the show was kinda unpleasant. The guys in charge of the show at the time were constantly butting heads with William Hartnell and she was always the one to step in and defend Bill, it resulted in them firing her so she couldn’t defend him and further
@JohnBloggs-m8l8 ай бұрын
@@mrcritical6751 Really? That's a piece of Who gossip I've never heard. She was a good friend then cos Bill was rather irritable like his character. The only other thing I've seen her in was The Duchess of Duke Street which was a great comedy drama from the 70s.

So lovely to see Steven and Vicki reunite and talk about their best adventures. It's all the more important for the fact the stories where they each left the Doctor no longer exist, and most of Steven's travels with the Doctor are also lost in time. DIscussing those 'missing pieces' is a wonderful touch, for fans old and new alike. It makes you want to see them in all their glory, if only they were ever found. Unlikely, of course, but we can hope.

This made me cry tears of joy, from a place deep down in my childhood. Although I am only in my 40's some of my earliest memories are of watching 1, with Vicky, Stephen, Barbara, etc. as a kid with my family on PBS; our Sunday night ritual as a child, defined me as an adult, and I like to think that Doctor Who influenced me for the better. This was beautifully written, and played to both the characters experience, and the audience regarding how the Doctor and Doctor Who has affected our lives. I am glad that new generations are finding ways to dig into the original content and that their stories continue in other mediums, such as Big Finish, especially now that bi-generation could mean that all of the previous doctors are out there, somewhere.

Getting ready to watch the Myth Makers Vicki's final serial. Last time I watched that serial it was through a bad 3d animation of the plot as if it was made with Blender. Vicki was one of my favorite companions of the Hartnell era second only to Ian Chesterton. Pretty sure she was only in maybe 5 or 6 serials, she did not have a good relationship with the film staff and the director just wanted her out and her to be replaced. Hence Vicki leaving the show, and Katrina (and later Dodo) to replace her. Honestly I liked Stephen and Vicki as companions more than Ben and Polly at the end of the Hartnell era.
