Especially given that his attorney said that she knew beforehand they were coming for her, there should be an investigation in how prior reports were actually handled. Maybe she had people from that Mormon Church who warned her and downplayed her action and actively obstructed justice.

Absolutely. My ex never laid a hand on me but exerted psychological and emotional control over me. I was, and somewhat still am, a very happy person who was doing well in my career (he was also in the same career). My outlook on everything was positive while his was extremely negative. He’d had a pretty rough childhood and mine was good. While I loved the work I was doing he hated it. In hindsight, I think my happiness and success was too much for him and he needed to squash me and my success. He has since quit drinking and has realized he has a multifactorial PTSD from childhood, his now previous career, and having served over in Iraq. We no longer speak as he has no ability to have empathy for situations since our divorce. I had a serious injury and lost 2 siblings and he has never acknowledged my grief.

I tend to agree and yet if you listen to Adam Steed’s interview it becomes clear how power is quickly taken from the father and the legal authorities and church are on Jodi’s side. He was being manipulated by Jodi and Ruby no doubt about it. I want him to take an interview and be questioned but I guess that won’t happen until legal proceedings are complete. It could be awhile. The State of Utah is extremely corrupt, probably worse than Chicago. Instead of “the mob”, you have a sect running the State under the guise of Mormon morality. I have to completely disagree with this. Jodi is terrible in her own right but Ruby and Kevin are not "victims of Jodi" by any means and none of the terrible choices that they made like sending their son to a wilderness camp for months, taking their kids beds away, not feeding them, locking them in their rooms, tying them up, are to be placed entirely on Jodi. Those were choices that THEY made themselves. This is basically like trying to excuse all of a bully's actions and behavior by saying that they are a victim of the person that once bullied them so the way they treat others and the terrible things they do to other people are okay. Adam Steed's interview today helped me to better understand what happened to Kevin and Ruby. Yeah the meal deprivation, in our eyes seem harsh, when they were still public looked bad, however the children appeared healthy. Kevin seemed to want his wife more than his children and perhaps didn't want to go public with a custody dispute, believing he would interfere with the income stream. This interview was ill advised for Kevin and I have no idea why they thought this would be beneficial to his standing in this situation at all. His lawyer comes across as unknowledgeable and/or contradictory on so many of the key talking points that it paints him and his client as unreliable and untruthful. For a case with such huge media coverage, understanding all of the avenues of potential questioning is key to making your case. This interview has not done anything to change peoples minds over his involvement in this - particularly given the history - it just looks like passing they’re passing the buck.

As a psychologist, I thought that Ruby and Kevin would likely blame Jodi due to the role she reportedly played as their therapist (at minimum family therapist possibly individual as well). There seem to be so many boundary and ethical violations in this case...his story sounds so much like Adam Steed and other men that have said that working with Jodi, the men are cut off from their family and children. I wonder if Kevin knew about the allegations about the 12 year old (which I do not believe are true based on the allegations of Jodi finding normal behaviors to be addictive).

I have lived in Utah for 5 years now. This is absolutely typical of Utah mormon women. They have this weird control over what is going on in the household with men being detached from the day to day. This incident is extreme behavior by all means, yet the dynamics that have catalyzed this tragedy is absolutely a cultural staple in Utah. She knew the cops were coming bc Jodi found out the son was missing and she went around looking for him. She pulled up by the police and they said they were looking for her she then called Ruby and told her that the son was being taken to the hospital Ruby went to the hospital and fled once they told her the police were coming to talk to her.
