The experts always come out but haven’t done the same track. Tyler and MalaKAI made it! If you have the equipment you use it. On that note, it was lucky you had some help. Viewers should heed Tyler’s words. They were NOT prepared for the wind chill weather in that terrain. That said, the footage was priceless even though Kai expressed some displeasure. Lol. Great images taken by him too. Well done to both of you to endure those conditions for our viewing pleasure. Much better than those beer guzzling other guys! Cheers. 👍🏻🙏🏽🙏🏽😷😷🦘🦘

Many years ago we camped at the base of the Barkley River Jeep track (I think it was snowing as well), but the track was way overgrown, so much so that even a Suzuki would have received some serious bush pinstripes. Unfortunately we didn't do the track as we had to leave and were also taking home a couple of very weary bushwalkers who had given up their mission.

Mansfield/Jamieson is such a beautiful place to drive/hike. As a former local my advice for anybody doing it is to bring a paper 4wd map or off-road nav. Google maps will not tell you the terrain and not all tracks are suitable in wet conditions. Also , bring a beanie, and bring gloves. Believe me changing a tire on a track with freezing hands is not fun.

To give you an idea of how beaten up the Barkly River track is, I used it a lot in my (then new) bog standard 1976 Nissan Patrol with Roadtrak Major tyres on highway pressures. I remember the only issues was wheel travel on the switchbacks. It went to hell once it got some publicity.

Aaron Game I'd like to hear the answer to that question too, Aaron. I've got a 2020 LTZ collie, auto, and I love it. You just seem to have a more sensitive control, somehow. are you auto or manual ?
@Ga7cun7sSUCK3 жыл бұрын
Im running an auto after having manuel 4x4s my whole life, when i got the new hilux i got the auto because of my knee getting a bit old driving in traffic when im home. I find the auto off road to be far superior in every way over a manuel, concerning steep rocky terrain, the only negative is you need some extra power to full send through bog where as in a manuel you can really send it off the line in a bog hole. But with a tune or turbo upgrade on a new auto you won't have that problem. Ill never own a manuel car again.
@ryantilley-general.shenanigans3 жыл бұрын
The auto would be the pick in my opinion.

@@robertmillar2037 Tyler appeared to choose a spot on the other side of the first Macalister River crossing. When you get to the bottom of the Macalister River/Black Soil Gully track, if you turn right, there's a large(ish) dirt campsite just around the corner and before you get to the Sisters. There are number of campsites along the Macalister before you either take the Butcher Country Track (seven river crossings) or go onwards to Grimme Creek track (10 river crossings). There's not much after the Butcher Country turnoff, but there's an OK campsite at this spot and a very nice waterfall and swimming hole a short walk away.
