I was born in the same part of Norway this guy is from, as he's speaking with a clear Northern Norwegian accent, and Norwegians up there are (in)famous throughout the rest of Norway for their coarse language whether they're angry or not. As an example, calling someone a "Jævla hestkuk" - "Diabolical horsecock" can depending on tone of voice and body language be a grievous insult or a joyous greeting between old friends. Also there was a time where a young officer from the south was stationed up north for a couple of years and arrested a man who called him a diabolical horsecock after having been fined. In the courtroom, the man was let go (but he still had to pay his original fine) and the judge told the young officer: "If you're going to work up here, this is something you're just going to have to get used to."

All the cops here in Norway seems to be like that, they undergo so much training and education. I got pulled over for doing a illegal turn and the officer strolled over to the window and joked around, told me about the construction in the area, (why i couldnt turn the way i did) and he didnt give me a ticket or even a written warning. He just told me to watch out for some of the construction in the area and let me continue on my jurney. If you treat the officer with respect, he will do the same. Respect goes both ways.

to add to this and correct the guy above. it's not Norwegian slang, although it's often used very informally in modern day, it's the old term for psychiatric hospital. the word translates literally word for word as "mental/mind" (sinn-), "sickness" (syke-), "house" (hus). the house of the mentally sick or sick minded. the usage of the word "sinnsyk" in Norwegian is equivalent to how the word "insane" is used in English.

Another sentence with the same meaning behind it is if you call someone, ''Du er en blautfisk'', blaut meaning something soft or wet, often refered and used in a sentence to describe something wet, but ''Blautfisk'' is refering to a ''soft fish'', something with less substance, or ''soft''.

@QuackersMcCrackers4 жыл бұрын
@@denyewll3153 Yeah I feel like Chandler is in the right here. It's not so much the use of guns, but more about the culture which leads to the widespread use and indoctrination of guns in the first place. Think of it like this: Whilst it's true that Norwegian policeman don't have to worry about being shot as much as their American counterparts, and that yes, a reason for this is due to the lack of guns, someone in Norway could just as easily yield a knife, or a hammer, or perhaps acid. Take it from me, as someone from the UK, the danger is still prevalent even if the guns are not. To put it another way, it's not the guns that the USA policeman should be worried about, but the people that yield that' and as for the people that field them, the American police actually seem much more accountable than the citizens themselves, since their obviously the one's who are most armed, yet daily I see at least one video in my feed whereby an American policeman brutally victimizes the public they are meant to serve, and I saw several daily at the height of the protesting. Afterall, the police involved in the death of George Floyd were a group of four. Thus it is not only a few bad apples that spoil the bunch, every cop there seems rotten. They act as a group, and carry themselves like gang members, rather than as actual policeman. To clarify a point, however, I don't claim that every cop is bad in America, but it seems like the majority are. There are videos out there too of American cops displaying heroic acts, but unfortunately, they seem to be vastly outnumbered by the cops who are willing to victimize its own community. And whilst the cops themselves should take some of the blame, they shouldn't be blamed for it all, as their only the way they are because of the culture they were raised in when they themselves were children.

Traders would not enter another's waters displaying beasts on the front of those most beautiful ships and were hence just northmen. Why speak Norse in an English comment string. I'm Suomi. I'm speaking English. And have you considered the idea behind the raiding theory is from those being raided? The languages at the time were much different. We still wrote in runes, sung in runes and believed runes to be magic. So to look at what is said in your language now is far from the 7th century. As are the words Angles, Saxons and Britons used when the first raiders came to Lindisfarne. The word viking seems to have meant raiding then. The traders from the same areas were never referred to as vikings even if often they were the same guys. Northern ways were much different as in the proto-viking era the fights among different skandi, skandi-danka tribes over productive land made us all fighters and upon finding weak people who weren't warriors so nearby who paid tribute to a weak god seemed a gift to early raiders. Aww fuck it. Why am I explaining history for free to a stranger. I get paid to teach.

Larum Dexsterium Sounds about right, but Finnish cops are the nicest to drunken fools. And that's coming from me, a Swede. The way the US cops treated us was like if me and my friend was armed and hostile. Such pointless aggression is not needed to get two drunk guys of the street. Most of Europe ( I can add Italy, Belgium and France to my list now) has treated us just fine. A quick check to make sure we were ok and a check of our ID's and away we went. No violence, no shouting, no guns. Just some good cops doing their job. ( And to all you who might be asking why the hell I'm drunk all over the globe, me and my best friend is on a beer trip. A long and funny beer tasting trip. 228 brands/sorts tasted so far. We are aiming at 300. )

They shot him down with laughing and no one got hurt. That’s police work!
@griz0635 жыл бұрын
@JackClayton123 Don't forget the public has a very great say in how the police force can respond to them. Despite the occasional lashing out the drunk still recognized the authority of the police and would calm down when they told him to. He was not fighting with them about his rights while ignoring his responsibilities. He wasn't trying to kill them or reaching for their gun. People in the US complain all the time about how militant the police are. But it starts with them. One only needs military tactics, in the presence of a sworn enemy.

@@griz063 Americans are often deceived or distracted and do not realize the true measure of their power.
@griz0635 жыл бұрын
@@franklyanogre00000 And that often ties into the authority issues that seem to be more of a problem in the USA than most other countries. As the saying goes, power corrupts -- which maps into what can happen to the police. But they have training and protocols to guide them. Most citizens out to best the cops only have emotions and a partial grasp of things they would fancy themselves expert on. And then this arrogance and petulance factors into both the danger and frustration levels police feel -- as well as distract them away from tasks more important than sending out a supervisor to wrangle with an internet-trained "lawyer". These things just do not happen for example, in Scandinavia. So the way the police interact with the public can afford to be very different.

The fact that the drunk was polite enough to manage to stay quiet when the cops asked him to when the sick woman came through shows that he isn't a bad man. Sure, he kicks the police and acts aggressive and shit, but that's just how the intoxication rolled. Also the best part about the drunk calling the cop a jelly got left out of the subtitles: "Youre a jelly." "Am I?" "Yes." "Heheheh. Oh well."

I've been at the police stable in Oslo, where they explained a lot about the weapon use. And they never have to reach for weapons unless told so, but even if they have a gun, they don't shoot people the second they se them. They are smart and talk to them to try and solve the case without violence. Often they also use dogs when hunting for criminals, and they are normally not harmed even when the dogs are working.
