I also think that you made a wise decision on the mechanic. I suggested that earlier as I am sure he will free Ryan up for his management duties, ie , estimates, editing, etc. I suggested earlier that a fuel-gas pump on your premises would smooth out your operation greatly. You spend lots of time fueling your equipment at the gas station. You would save lots of money doing this and you could get a much better price on your gas and diesel by purchasing in bulk. So happy Ryan hired this young guy and gave him a chance. Many to most of us in construction who started and successfully operated our own business started just like him. In 1976 I was 27, owned a 1967 Chev pickup, no lumber rack or tool boxes, just a nail belt, skill saw, a few basic form setting hand tools and a bucket of hand trowels. Rented a bull float, a jitter bug and went out to start my own concrete construction business. Sold my multi million dollar business in 2001 to my foreman who had been with me 15 years, carried a contract for him and retired. He paid the business off in just under 10 years and is still building his business even larger than it was when I sold it to him.

Good luck to you Luis! Watching Ryan and hearing how he started out and the tips he has for making it work could serve you very well. A lot of what I (and many) like about Ryan is he's reasonable, respectable, respectful and more than fair. Above all else, he's just a good human! He doesn't quote the lowest price because he knows his work is worth what he quotes. I have no doubt that you are worth it too. My daughter recently opened her own business - she's a dog handler/trainer. I'll put on my 'mom hat' and tell you what I told her (hope you don't mind, lol). A lot of what gets new businesses off the ground is good 'word of mouth' reviews. Go into a new job/quote with confidence and on time. When you do the job and treat people well, you will succeed. Small things like a smile, handshake and listening to your client goes a long way, especially now-a-days with everything being online and seemingly impersonal. Best of luck to you as you step out on your own - I wish you every success and with hard work, I have complete faith you will succeed.

We're required to wear face shields and glasses, and he didn't have a face shield on. The face shield would have saved him. Stay safe out there.

Quick little fabrication tip for you Ryan if you haven't got a square handy or you're fabricating a larger frame. So long as it's symmetrical and you have a tape measure you can square up very accurately measuring diagonally corner to corner. Say it was a square for the sake of an example, you'd go top left to bottom right, then the opposite and compare the measurements. Adjust until the distance is equal and you've got a perfectly square frame. Probably a bit overkill for what you're doing but that's how we accurately square up fabrications at my work. A trick of the trade just the same. Stumbled upon your channel via your facebook videos and am thoroughly enjoying your content. Keep it up! From Tasmania Australia
