Used to know someone who was very dear to me. Flew out from Winnipeg to visit this person and the Calgary Banff drive was the last good memory I had with this person. Although they ended up being very poor to me in the end, I'll never forget the times we shared together and how much of a positive impact they had on my view of people and my life as a whole. Regardless, Thank you for the upload it brings back very good memories... Peace be with you!

Thank you for sharing your driving adventures through Calgary and the mountains. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I live in Colorado, about an hour east from the Rockies on the plains. In Colorado, the plains transition very rapidly into the mountains (more than this video). We often have to go through canyons to get to the mountain towns. It was so cool to see how much the Rockies in Alberta differ from the Rockies in Colorado. Thank you again for this video. I hope to visit and sight-see the mountains in Canada one day! Blessings and enjoy your trips!

Just come across your lovely video. I live in the UK and have been priveleged to drive Calgary - Banff around six times. One such occasion was literally a few days before the catastrophic floods of 2013. Places like Canmore and Elbow Falls certainly looked a lot different afterwards. I just love Alberta - so beautiful.

I often wish the Canadian government would force all provinces to sign the Trans-Canada Highway as route 1. In New Brunswick, they can trade route 1 & 2. In Quebec they can conjoin route 1 with the autoroutes. I'm not sure if Ontario & Nova Scotia route 1 still exists, but they can give them different numbers . I also often wish a super route 2 could be created going north and south using Alberta 2 & 43, the Alaska highway, the Klondike highway, and the Dempster highway.

The American Interstate system is a lot more extensive though.
@highwaysbyways42818 жыл бұрын
At the beginning of the video you can see the TransCanada going through Calgary as a surface street with numerous signalized intersections. It's like that in a lot of places. As well, there are a lot of stretches of the TransCanada where it exists as a two-lane, undivided highway. The highway between Calgary and Banff is actually one of the best in the whole country. So the highway as a whole can't really be compared to any US Interstate.
@TransCanadaPhil8 жыл бұрын
Highways & Byways yes, I'd say the stretch of the TCH between Calgary and the BC border is "Interstate quality", as is the Coquihalla highway between Kamloops and Hope, as well as the TCH from Hope to Vancouver. The TCH between Winnipeg to Calgary is what I would consider a "good quality divided U.S. highway (non-Interstate)". East of Manitoba in North Western Ontario, it's an inadequate 2 lane highway just as it is in eastern BC between Yoho National Park and Kamloops.
