If I had to guess this is likely an early build they made in anticipation for Nick Arcade they would then polish it up and send it off when ready it also still has the Marble Zone UFOs so it also has to predate Sonic's appearance in Wayne's World.

I believe the "Long awaited" quote in the Super Kid Icarus blurb is just referencing the fact that it was a scarce Nintendo series with only two niche titles at the time, with fans looking forward to more. Looks like things haven't changed much decades later, hopefully Nintendo sees the success of Metroid Dread and brings back series like Kid Icarus, F-Zero and the like for more games.

As someone who collects Etone plushies, it is so incredibly hard to find specific things they've made. I searched for over 5 years to find one of their large sized white raccoon plushes from the 80s for sale and i haven't seen another one for grabs since. Same with their giant tan raccoon. I could only imagine how much harder it would be to find something like a Jumpman plush from them, considering he wasnt a widely recognized character at the time nor a cute critter that would appeal to kids.

ya its 100% a mock up the materials on yoshi alone proves that as you can easily see similarities with donkey kong country promo renders and 100% would end up looking different in the game. Not to even bring up the fidelity of the background being way to clear and not stupidly compressed like any of the other "3d" games on the gba.I do wonder where it came from though 2000 rarely had real 3d fanart ontop its very well put together that shows a good grasp on the style Nintendo at the time with how the UI and materials are handled.

Yeah Yeah Beebiss was more or less confirmed to be a copyright trap in the time since that original video was made. I have a possible new search for a "lost" game that I have been searching for over 6 years and never found anything. It was a game on Xbox 360. It had a simple, short name. I remember it had an N and E in it. It was a 2d, but non-pixel game. So you are a black, mannequin like player, and you are in a room with black walls and an obstacle course. When you die, you fall apart into limbs. You have to jump on things, and electrical things. You jump on multiple things to go on the floor above and there's a exit. You go to another room, but significantly harder. There's a tutorial. That's all I remembered.

Seeing you talk about the Jumpman prototype triggered a memory of a WWF/WWE Figure that I remember VIVIDLY from my childhood, always wanted it, but it was an expensive collectors thing I never had money to buy. Til I went to try and find it last year, and I cant even find pictures of it now. It was from the Legends Gold/Black box line of the early 2000's and it was a bloody variant Cactus Jack in his King of the Deathmatch gear (white shirt covered in blood) and I basically gave up finding it at this point, but I know it was real. I used to stalk the toy sites for the new wrestlers and remember that one always catching my eye.

Beebiss was placed on the list as a follower trap. They knew that other companies would swoop in and try to buy the fake game at a marginally lower price after the initial pricing announcement. Occam's Razor fully applies. Yeah Yeah Beebiss was a trap, but not a copyright trap. Some of LSSQs assumptions don't hold, like "if it was a trap, it'd be on the list longer." I'd disagree, as it'd only need to be on as long as it needed. "Somebody had to go and price them out." Only one group needed to price them out. It's very common in several flipping industries to lean on each other's pricing structure. Don't you look at ebay ads to see how much people are buying/selling collectibles? "They were in the same magazine." The magazine won't care. It's not their job to scan these ads and ensure one isn't lifting content from the other. They take the ad, make sure it's relevant and not obviously illegal, and get paid. Period.

Loved the video, but had to interject one thing; The idea gaming mags were putting out fake news is not entirely accurate, at least in my humble opinion. I am one who fully enjoyed gaming and the media in the 80's and 90's, and actually still have most of those mags that were mentioned. To the best of my knowledge Qman was just authored by random rotating staff at EGM. It was a section for gossip and speculation as there was much of that around the industry. Most of it was information that never came into anything special, but it was entertaining. The Qman section was one of my favourite sections of the mag years ago. That and the psycho letter of the month. Long live Captain Calzone!

28:00 Hahaha, yea. Loads of "news" was fake either to fill pages or simply stir up buzz. Part of the reason was that loads were simply fans writing about stuff and part of it was that there were loads of publications and a rather small install base. Even to this day, while being more professional, this is still a rather big issue with gaming journalism. And while today the whole "lets just make up shit about a company future products" is largely dead, they still have a heavy hand at creating "controversy" as controversy these days sells better than tales of new releases. Granted the latter also has enter in some normal publication for clicks reasons.
