Overkill
Overkill is a Decepticon. Whether talking, terrifying, or attacking, he does everything to excess. So busy proving how tough he is by snapping cars in half between his jaws that he forgets his mission. Can record data as a cassette or rip open the hull of a battleship as a tyrannosaurus. Armed with 2 batteries of motion missiles -- each reacts to any moving object bigger than a baseball and explodes on contact.
Frenzy (aka rumble in the cartoons)
For Frenzy it's not about any "Decepticon cause," it's not about any quantifiable cause, or goal, or purpose at all. It's about violence, fear, destruction, and mayhem. Frenzy lives to fight. He lusts to destroy with an intensity that borders on insanity. War is his fuel, his oxygen. Despite his small stature he'll lead a charge into battle against robots many times his size, screaming for destruction with every microchip of his being. This single-minded obsession makes him a hard bot to associate with personally, but a frightening asset on the battlefield. His partner and brother, Rumble, is only too eager to back him up.
Frenzy's manic attack style and his "battle cry" (a sonic attack produced by special drums in his torso that can severely disrupt electrical flows, resulting in all sorts of mechanical malfunctions and balance issues) make him difficult to get close to in combat, but cool and measured reaction to his wild ragings is usually the most effective strategy.
Rumble (aka frenzy in the cartoons)
The label "brat punk" isn't completely inaccurate. Rumble is your basic street punk. Small, but always acting tough as a cover. Not exactly the most subtle of Soundwave's spies, but what he lacks in discretion, he makes up for by being the brawler of the group. He talks tough because he is tough. Quick-tempered and of a generally mean disposition, he follows Megatron eagerly, as the Decepticon leader lets him indulge in destruction. Rumble has a tendency to toss out a taunting rhyme at his enemies and is, according to Brawn, a "jerk" (or at other times, a "sawed-off nerd").
As the Decepticon demolitions expert, Rumble loves nothing more than to break things apart. His arms can transform into powerful piledrivers that, when pounded against the ground, can cause earthquakes, usually with fissures. He can be easily overpowered in a one-on-one match, though the real challenge is actually getting to him first. Even if you do, you usually need to get through his brother Frenzy either before or after you get Rumble.

The box actually names them the old/japanese/"correct" way. Clock wise from the top left says "Frenzy", "Rumble", "Over-Kill" and "Condor" in the yellow boxes and black lettering. I think the black boxes with white lettering say "Cassette-Ron". just random fyi I guess :)

I like to call the blue one Rumble. I think that Overkill and Slugfest did appear in the cartoon, but I´m not sure.

Cartoon came out after the toys, so Rumble is Red and Black while Frenzy is Blue and Light Blue. End Argument Debate, because the animators for the show make mistakes, like Decepticon symbols on Autobots and wrong coloured robots.

Overkill was in the cartoon Call of the Primertives even if it was a 13 second apperance. I love the cassete transformers my Rumble is so old his leg is ready to fall off so i use the plastic case to display him. Great review Paul Merry Christmas.

My Commemorate Soundwave has Lazerbeak, and one of his legs is warped, it doesn't sit flush with the body. I also have original G1 Rumble and Ravage.

I will pick up this set again of these reissue cassettes. I misplaced the ones I bought about seven years ago. The review is definitely great! I hope that Hasbro and/or Takara would reissue Beastbox and Squawktalk Decepticon Minicassettes!

@JamesandAJJ That depends really, if you're talking about the animated series then Rumble is the blue one, but originally the character was black & red, so for whatever reason their colours were switched around in the end.

But if Blue is Frenzy and Red is Rumble because that's how they were originally named, then Ravage is Jaguar and Laserbeak is Condor since that's their original Japanese names? :s (Even in the comics Rumble is red and Frenzy is blue)

Wow! That's good the stickers on Frenzy and Rumble are imprinted, because I hate how they curled in the original ones. I had to reglue it with crazy glue, and they still are a little off when transformed into cassette. I might get this set and sell the originals...Thumbs up!

Nice review Paul. Must get this.mow can someone please tell me why a lot of fans think rumble is blue.he is RED and frenzy is BLUE..The cartoon and comics got it WRONG. In the g1 toys,which came first, r was red and f was blue.the mp toys are the same and binaltech/altantors r is red.i wonder if the colours for bumblebee and cliff jumper were reversed on the show would fans have the same debate as both bee and jumper were available in both red and yellow each

Soundwave is one of my favourites and as such I have always loved the Cassettes. I would have got this set, but they are like £50 for one. About £12 per figure which, Bar one or two rare ones, Is just E-bay prices all over again!!

why do people get so pissy over rumble and frenzy, ive always gone off the cartoons, red is frenzy, rumble is blue. the toys and cartoons got mixed up thats all, dont make a fuss, lol. Frenzy was always one of my favorite transformers simply because i could never find him anywhere :(

i used to have a lazer beak but it got lost when i accidentally dropped it in the goodwill bag without noticing and it was really posable too. wings move up and down, feet move up, down and rotate. and head moves up down and rotates and it can stil transform into the cassette. got it at a garage sale with a decepticon dinobot wich is also lost as well. i was a little kid then so give me some slack.

hi, this isn't a 'troll' or anything but I can read japanese and according to those cards, the blue one is frenzy (pronounced furenjii in japanese) and the red one is rumble (pronounced ranburu in japanese) i don't know if thats what u were saying all along but I just thought you should know :)

The Rumble and frenzy colors are correct. The cartoon was incorrect initially, and they just never corrected it. Too much animation to recolor.

The first few episodes there is no red one. It is only the blue one, which they call Rumble.
