The Vietcong would raid villages, and eliminate government appointed village leaders. They would ambush the enemy on roads and launch attacks on US military advisors.

Back then in Vietnam, we don't fight for ideas or politics, we didn't even understand what ''Communism'' means. All we understand at the time was that the enemy had decided to invade our country and it is by sheer duty and patriotism that we took up arms and fight back. "Nothing is more precious than Freedom and Liberty." - Ho Chi Minh, this is still remembered today in Vietnam.

People didn't understand Communism back then, and they still don't now. They just don't care. I have never met anyone who call themselves a communist or socialist in Vietnam, but I have met a lot in the West. Americans didn't understand this mindset, we would've sided with them too if they'd helped us achieve independence. Country before ideology.

The Vietnamese communist hero won the greatest national war in history. So far, the Vietnam War still holds the record as the war with the highest number of bombs thrown in the history of the world. The total number of bombs that US planes dropped on Vietnam was 7.85 million tons, nearly three times the total number of bombs that all countries used during World War II and the equivalent of 250 bombs. atoms that the US threw at Hiroshima. On average, every Vietnamese person at that time suffered about 250 kg of bombs dropped from American planes. That's not to mention 7.5 million tons of US ammunition used on the ground (including grenades, mines, explosives, artillery shells) and 45,260 tons (about 75 million liters) of toxic chemicals sprayed by the US. Who are the righteous people, they are farmers, workers, students, young people, women, old people .... stand up and hold guns against foreign invaders! Everlasting thanks to the previous generation!

They defeated Mongol Empire, Imperial Japan, France, USA, Cambodia, and China. Seriously, they have to be one of the best armies at preventing invasions. And I always laugh at Americans and Chinese who are so butt hurt about their obvious defeat lol. The win/Loss is determined by whether you achieved the goal or not. USA achieved nothing, while China basically gave up and ran away lol. Same with Russians in Afghan War. Butt hurt with inflated ego.

Stravo Lukos 1/ The lost is generally due to how Stalin command the army. You can't attribute a man even later historian call a madman. The same way you can't say the US is terrible just because Bush did one term. 2/ Again, the Chinese lost people, the Vietnamese lost theirs. What do you mean "punished". And your hysterical "Chinese own half of Vietnam" comment, there is absolutely no proof. All you are doing here is spewing lies and spreading misinformation.

Thị Phần I will tell you why, Vietcong(operational area was South vietnam),Pol Pot(Campodia) , Pathet Lào (Laos) they were all communist they were supported by China and Soviet Union. However,China and Soviet Union were against. As a result Indochina was slipt 2 parties , Pol Pot was ally of China, Lao and Vietnam were ally of Soviet. America worried if Soviet and China had been ally, it would have been a disaster ,so they found way to prevent operation between Soviet and China , American would allow China to import and export goods from US and allies of US.So they are successful .It was called Global Strategy, that why Republic of Vietnam collapsed (US left South Vietnam alone)

Which were very similar in terrain to the Jungles of Vietnam. I like how everyone avoids the real reason the US lost the war. Because filthy fucking communist hippies made their country lose a war. And then proceeded to spit on returning veterans. These same people, never received any punishment nor shame for betraying their country and army. Hippies, deserve the worst the world has to offer.

The war was controversial to say the least. I still think, that after the tet offensive, the US people should have pushed congress to take the restrictions off, and let our men take the fight to the north. If that happened, then the communist threat would be no more. We would’ve helped Vietnam rebuild their villages and cities, wished them well, and left with a prosperous Vietnam behind us. If that were the case, then Vietnam would’ve been like modern South Korea. But... that’s just a what if.

Being British I am grateful my country stayed out of Vietnam. I have seen that wall in Washington and in 1998 I went to Vietnam. I cannot imagine the hardships that those poor American boys went through, the constant terror, never knowing when danger could come, the heat and the hostility of their own people when returning home. We must also remember the suffering of the Vietnamese and Cambodian people too, always under the constant threat of another air raid..I recall passing through the old DMZ and seeing cemetery after cemetery, all with Communist symbols over the gates, hundreds of young men, many little more than boys buried in each one, and I saw scours of such cemeteries. As I said I saw the wall in Washington, the names etched onto it, like the Vietnamese in the cemeteries I saw in Vietnam, the men behind the names on the wall were mostly young men, with all their lives ahead of them, back during the war these men and the ones buried in the old DMZ cemeteries were enemies, but no longer, now they are united, united in death and I hope in peace. . I remember a woman I met in Vietnam, I complimented her on her excellent English, she told me she had been married to a GI who promised to take her to America but he was killed in the Mekong Delta, so much misery and grief all around, civilians and soldiers from both sides, only time will heal the scars. Though my country stayed out of Vietnam and I know no one who fought in that war I give our American cousins my respect. My own father is dead now,(He died in 1998) he fought in Normandy in WW2, I remember he never talked about the war, most vets don't , they just want to forget, not wanting to be reminded of that terrible times in their lives. Yet I can still see my father with tears in his eyes when he watched on TV as the queen placed a wreath of poppies on the Cenotaph (Memorial) in London. 50 years on and the sight of the Queen laying the wreath still brought tears to his eyes, somethings a person never forgets, no matter how hard he tries. I believe all veterans are deserving of respect, whether they fought in WW2, Vietnam or the Gulf, for people like me who has never been to war we cannot even begin to imagine what the vets went through and with many of them are still going though, the dreams and nightmares that will torment them for the rest of their lives.

To be fair, we came in defense of the south, fearing a greater Soviet handle in Southern Asia. It had nothing to do with Imperialism. It was just a way to keep communism contained and prevent its spread.

@@bartkatastroof6150 It’s not propaganda. It’s the US’s motivation for getting involved in Vietnam. It’s the same reason we came to the defense of South Korea in the 50’s. You have to think that everyone was waiting for World War 3 to pop off at any moment. So when the war did go off, having as manny allies around your biggest enemies during the war (Russia and probably China and most likely North Korea), would be very preferable rather than having enemy allies in that area. It was purely for strategic purposes, not imperialistic ones. If south Vietnam would’ve won they most likely would’ve been treated similar to Japan and South Korea, as an important ally.

Think of what Ho Chi Minh said; "You will fight us, and you will loose one man for ten of ours. And in the end, you will grow tired of it." In other words, he knew the fight would be bloody, but he knew also his opponent well. And knowing your opponent is half the way to victory, basically. Smart tactics and unyielding morale, plus support from other communist countries, did the rest.

You forgot to mention that for all the VC's success during the Tet offensive it also marked the end of the VC as an effective fighting force. From Tet on, all of the fighting done by North Vietnam was done by their regular, conventional forces, the NVA.

You should do a video about the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN), better known as the North Vietnamese Army (NVA). Some of the best light infantry who ever lived, they were. Giap and those guys beat the mightiest military force that had ever existed on planet earth, starting out with 30-50 guys in the jungle (many of whom had crossbows!)

Nonsense! Few people know about the 300k Commie Chinese troops aiding the Commie Vietnamese fighting Dien Bien Phu battle because the Commies didn't want the rest of the free world to know that Communism was, and still is, a GLOBAL movement. They created a delusional myth of rag-tag Vietnamese guerrilla bands of militia fighting against the technological advanced Western powers to achieve national independence, but in reality, Vietnamese Commies got millions of well-equipped soldiers trained and supplied with modern weapons like SA missiles, battle tanks PT-76,T-54/55, MIG-fighters 20's, rocket launchers, artillery 120-140mm, mortar's, RPG's provided by both global Commie giants Soviet and China, and Commie Vietnam, as a result, has become another of their satellite puppet repressive states just like Commie North Korea. Even the current flag of Commie Vietnam (red flag with yellow central star) was duplicated from Commie China's Fujian province thanks to Commie Chinese puppet Ho Chi Minh and eventually replaced the national flag of Vietnam (yellow flag with 3 red horizontal stripes) for 2000 years dating back to the Trung Sisters Dynasty 40 AD. All true. Do your research! Same kind of voodoo, idolatry, and demagoguing the utterly corrupt, brutal, and deceptive Vietnamese Commie regime today still bring leftover statues of Lenin and Stalin, rejected along with Communism in Russia, back to Commie Vietnam to worship, and spend hundreds of millions of dollars building Commie monuments to further brainwash the enslaved Vietnamese population. Same type of deception the Vietnamese Commies use to depict Hu Kwan, aka Ho Quang, aka Ho Chi Minh as God, while dude got many body-doubles. The real Nguyen Ai Quoc died in Hong Kong in 1932, but his impostor (Hu Kwan), a Chinese intel officer lived on to play his part. That's why "Ho Chi Minh" wrote and spoke Chinese better than Vietnamese. Even when he tried to write Vietnamese, his writings were full of spelling and grammatical errors like those of a 2nd grader. He always wore Chinese clothing and not Vietnamese. All true. Check out his photos and his archived letters. Not only that, Vietnamese Commies tried their hardest to brainwash people with lies about his being educated, single, and pure to fully devote his energy and effort to serve his beloved country Vietnam, but in reality he was an addicted playboy with third-grade education and multiple wives and mistresses. He even tried to mouth rape young Indonesian girls and was ordered not to do so. Search "President Ho told to stop kissing girls" The Straits Times, 8 March 1959, Page 8. In Vietnam, he openly raped women, including Nong Thi Xuan and once she became pregnant, he murdered her whole family to cover up. Even former senior Party loyalist Bui Tin was shocked by his behavior All true. Do your research. He is world's top 10 mass murderers of 20th century. His land reform (1953-1956) alone in North Vietnam killed nearly 1 million North Vietnamese. Yet, this lowlife demagogue was bult into a personality cult by the Vietnamese Commies, modeling after Commie China's Mao, former Soviet's Stalin & Lenin, North Korea's Kim Jong-il, Cuba's Castro, etc. for their psyops to perpetuate their totalitarian grip on the enslaved populations. Here's a quote from an enlightened former hardcore Commie: "I gave up half of my life for communist ideals. Today I have to confess with sadness that the communists only spread propaganda and lies"- Former Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev.
