The culture of war is a celebration of death, which is what President Trump is promoting and which we must confront, argues Trinity College's Vijay Prashad at the Code Pink Summit

Prashad mostly gets it right, and correctly describes the culture of death and our obsession with violence, terror and wars.

What a powerful video, this is why The Real News is one of three Web sites that I monetarily support every month. I agree with Vijay this will be the last Presidency, our approach to life reaffirms death and that is why we have Trump. I’m extremely Spiritual and for me this is the last battle between this complex life paradigm of which we are a part of and death. We’ve rejected the notion of the collective and design and seem to be choosing the singularity and chaos instead. This is what extinction looks like and it’s just a matter of which poison that kills us first, Environmentally 400 ppm of CO2 means the planets temperature is going to increase by at least 5 deg C. very soon. The Arctic has very little multi year ice and when we have a Blue Ocean event in the Arctic there will be a lot of heat Energy entering our Oceans. Financially look no further than 2008 except instead of a 30% correction make it an 80% correction. Geo-Politically look at what is happening in the Middle East right now. Israel which is clever as a Fox has prodded the Saudi’s to do their dirty work and engage Iran. The Saudi’s are doing everything to ensure failure and that leads to Trump fulfilling his destiny, patsy of the century, getting to push the button as the annihilation President. There are so many mysteries to life that we will never uncover, what a pity.

Most likely the charges and conviction, at the World Court, of "crimes against humanity" and "aggression" against a sovereign nation, resulting in either execution(s) of all culpable or/and life imprisonment.

What is the accountability that you are suggesting the United States should have for dropping the atomic bombs on Japan? The Japanese attacked America at Pearl Harbor, and given they attacked a military installation, we should have responded in kind by destroying a military installation instead of a civilian population, I will concede that. But what you are arguing is that we should’ve done nothing. You’re arguing that any response was unwarranted and even as the ultraleftist that I am I will not get on board with that line of thinking, because it is utterly ridiculous. You would have us slapped in the face and respond in no way or fashion whatsoever.

Federico Pascuale There is powerful classism in the US but because a handful can escape it, we get away with pretending the rest are not slaves to it. It's like the Hunger Games.

Lisa Greenstein There is classism ALL OVER THE WORlD. To suggest that the US is such a horrible place... Come on, then why do everybody want to live there? Why did this guy left India? He shouldnt be trying to "fix" the US. On the Other hand there s a lot to do in India... But HE LEFT... Why? And like i sad im not even from the US, im argentinian; just an outsider witnessing the fall of the greatest nation due to the extreme empathy if its people and the sense that they need ti help people from Other countries who HATE YOU. Like i said i have no plans on living in the US but i think i would be a much better and proud citizen than this whining piece of shit. You should kick this people out and bring people who embrace the country instead of whining and whining; what they ultimatly want to do is destroy the US but you let them in... Sad...

Federico, it is very fair to say there are worse places in the world to live than the US. If you want to argue that Argentina is worse than the US, you are welcome to do that. If Argentina IS worse than the US, then hopefully you are speaking up and working to make it better. Or do you plan to keep your mouth shut and go along until the country and city you live in are the worst hellhole on the face of the earth with the least respect for human rights? Then maybe you will acknowledge the value of rational criticism?

But Japan dropped the first bomb on America, Japan dropped the bomb on Hawaii that’s why we bombed Japan. Where is the accountability on Japan?

Japan attacked a military base on an island that was invaded and annexed by the US from an independent Hawaiian queen, Liliʻuokalani. The Japanese that were responsible for the war were held accountable and tried as war criminals. Its time to try the US war criminals.

Shortbus Shorty: It's because the American Establishment believe they are saved by the blood of Jesus, they feel they can do what they like and not be held accountable and are guaranteed a place in Heaven, regardless. According to Herman Melvell, America sees itself as the New Israel. God's Chosen. Therefore the whole world belongs to them and is on their turf. Expansion of the Monroe Doctrine indefinitely. By the way, only 144,000 are listed to be saved by God and whose names are known even before the foundation of the world is laid. That leaves out a billion + Christians - never mind the rest. Faith and Works or good deeds together, not just Faith alone. You will find that in the letters and is also the same message in Islam. And what do you say to the Christian Unitarian Churches?
