Well said Mr Palaniyappan, Ms Oviya, Mrs. Sujatha. What Mr. Palaniyappan said about Mahakavi Bharathi came as a surprise. I just found out that the meeting with Nivedita-di influenced Bharathiyaar to fight for the freedom of women. Actor Mr Aamir Khan recently did a show called 'Masculinity harms men' and similar views that of the guest speakers of the show here, were shared there too. One of the guest was Kamal Bhasin, who has written extensively about masculinity. The cultural mindset of an Indian man is the same across the board, whether it is a UP man who cannot hold a child in his arms, or a Haryanvi man who feels that a women must be slapped when she stands up and she sits down. I sincerely wish that this attitude of men changes soon.

Even though its not 1960's there are certain pressures from society which forces a man to be dominant and wife to be subversive. I think that's what Oviya Madam meant..by suppression..
