Great video. Really good seeing you get to grips with the game. Think you could consider raising your webcam view a little from the bottom left? That area of the game's taskbar is where it shows the speed, course, depth and ID of the selected unit, so it would be great if we could see those. Thanks!

I have a comment I've been watching your sea power videos. And in a lot of the scenarios you send fighters to 10,000 feet fighters go high because speed is your friend so when attacking the fighter desends increasing speed also fuel lasts longer at high altitude give it a try I love the videos just felt maybe this was something you weren't aware of keep up the great work

They even included a business jet armed with two Exocet missles. This feels like a direct nod to the accidental shooting of the USS Stark. I tried working on a scenario for that but like most game editors it's a very cryptic tool.

I know you makes these scenarios yourself, so would you consider giving us the 'out of game' brief before you play them? It'd be good to know what you do and don't know is going to happen in the scenario and to know what you're actually thinking about doing/planning for etc as you're playing

I think that would make it worse. He plays it as events unfold which is what it would be like in real life.

It would be nice to see some point system to all of that so you can see how much worth is destroyed or saved. Also it would be nice to see a different color highlighted in the menu when you click on a unit etc as like you said there are multiple of the same things. Another great video JT.

You’re still requesting identification incorrectly. You have to select one of your units then right click on the unidentified unit and ask it to identify itself. If the unit you’re asking to identify is the selected unit (black square around it) you will not get a response, because you are essentially ordering it to identify itself to itself and you don’t have authority over neutral contacts anyways. If a unit refuses to identify itself to you, you will get a text notification at the bottom center of your screen and in the Event Log. Also you can tell by the (V/R) next to the civilian airliner track that it was identified via (V)isual contact and by (R)adar signature, meaning that unit never actually identified itself to you, your units just classified it on their own. Not to worry though, because you aren’t the only creator that has been getting this wrong, and it’s kinda silly how it works but it is what it is.

I haven't seen a Sea Power stream without a massive number of errors from the streamer. Aaron is outstanding in Cold Waters when commanding a single submarine, I could watch him all day. Sea Power's AI isn't good enough to let units be fully autonomous & unfortunately the players aren't able to manage either the game's interface or the battle space itself. For people used to being & watching gamers who generally excel at their games of choice, it's been a bit of a shock & disappointment. Ironically, as I finish this, Aaron just notices that the A-6E's he launched ages ago with "Strike" loadouts, aren't the EA-6 Prowlers he thought they were when he clicked on the A-6E & told them to launch...

I watched The Bedford Incident on KZbin just the other day. The film was in Black and white, and I hadn't seen it since I was a kid. It's not good that you must give orders to individual assets. As you are on an early access version, this will be fixed.

Great video and scenerio, will be fun to try it out down the road. Do have one question. Is this a US vs Iran fight, or a US vs (lots of people) fight? Reason i'm asking is Iran didn't have any Soviet era aircraft at this time....they had US aircraft, like F-14, F-4D's &E's ,and F-5 fighters. So are the Soviet aircraft actually USSR poking their nose in the fight? Again, this was really fun to watch!

Jive made this scenario and I just think he doesn't know, he even says in the video "Iran operates tons of soviet stuff" which just ain't true. They started buying Russian/Chinese stuff in the 90s when it was on discount in the wake of the collapse.

I don't know why the USN were so slow to react tot he dangers of diesel submaines. The HMAS Onslow had sunk the Carl Vinson at RIMPAC 1998. The troubled Collins class submarines also did remarkably well in wargames against the USN as well also "sinking" a carrier in 2003. Hopefully the USN has learnt the lessons from their allies and taken extensive training to protect their valuable assets.
@demanischaffer
@demanischaffer 2 ай бұрын
Training exercises are never an accurate way to judge things like that. US Army brigades regularly take massive casualities at JRTC and NTC for example. In these submarine exercises, you take the vast ocean for a ship or sub to hide/hunt in, and reduce it to a fixed area, and then implement various rules and game rules
@cadetrenew
@cadetrenew 2 ай бұрын
@@demanischaffer Yeah, it annoys me when people bring that up as a way to discredit the US. War games are not about seeing who is big and bad, they are about training. And your learn from your mistakes way more than your successes. The USN wanted that sub to do the absolute best it could and to succeed in "killing" the carrier. If it was detected, they wouldn't have learned anything at all. But I can only imagine the insight and tactics we got afterwards when they pulled that crew aside and pretty much said "That was awesome. Now show us how you did it."
@Br1cht
@Br1cht 2 ай бұрын
The Swedish boat also sunk a Carrier several times, they leased that Swede boat for several years after that so they have surely developed some counter by now. I’d guess that they run a swarm of drones around the Carrier groups now.
@demanischaffer
@demanischaffer 2 ай бұрын
@@Br1cht Important to note that Swedish sub had to be loaded onto a ship and transported across the ocean because it lacked range to get to the US Conventionally powered submarines are slower than a carrier group moving full speed, and the sub has to snorkel and run its diesel engines The weaknesses of conventional subs is well known, their advantages are also well known

@ diesel subs, it cannot be a surprise that diesel has smaller legs than a Nuke boat.

How are the tutorials for this game? Detailed? It takes you through all phases and functions of all types of units, air and sea? Step by step? Do the tutorials overall learning processes begin small and build to larger and more complex training scenarios? Jive Turkey, or anyone else reading, if you could answer, please. I never thought I'd be able to play War at Sea, but I've been fairly successful learning and playing that, but this game seems intimidating and too complex to enjoy...or maybe I'm wrong if the tutorials help you learn instead of just basics and then to the wolves!

It would seem that the game needs a theatre weapons control that affects all units (like the old harpoon used to have) - Weapons free for all units. Also being able to do it at a formation level would be good. Similarly being able to instruct units to engage a target using weapons at their discretion would be good (I was getting triggered by you not telling the fighters to use their sidewinders when they were close....)
@tomriley5790
@tomriley5790 Ай бұрын
Good video but I'd suggest getting your fighters between teh enemy fighters and the awacs so they have to shoot your fighters rather than your awacs... Similarly getting your EW aircraft up early might help. Similarly I think in the game logic you need to cancel your existing orders before ordering the aircraft to engage.

ive watched another streamer playing this over hte last couple weeks and he doesnt have any of the buggy issues you are having - rocket assisted torpedoes dont stick on the surface, aircraft go where they are told and attack as they should, warships engage with appropriate missile salvos, etc. i dont understany why your play seems so broken.

I think you really need to keep your ships and aircraft off weapons free. It vastly increased micromanagement, but prevents their terribad AI from hurting you. Sadly, the enemy uses that same AI, hence the very… odd challenge level the game can offer. I really hope they improve it.

In real life, how will trained in discipline would Soviet and Iranian pilot and sailors would have been? I know from the war in Ukraine, we have seen that most of their ships seem to be maintained and a lot of equipment sold on black markets. Would this have held true in a major conflict like what is being portrayed here?
