Vinfast VF8 City Edition - Don't Believe Everything You Read!

After attending the media launch for the Vinfast VF8 in San Diego, I had lots to say and lots to show. Vinfast has a lot of room to grow but my experience showed me that they are in it to win it, no matter how far away from the finish line they are.
This video will show you the interior, exterior, cargo space, and frunk as well as a detailed look at the infotainment system. You'll also get to drive along with me a hear my thoughts on my first drive.

The hig question is: would you buy VF over Tesla? Be honest with yourself. I meant buying with your money and not getting a free press car from VF. If so, come back with your review of the car after 6 months or so. I'd probably believe you then...

You also realize that this car was put together in VN rather than manufactured by VN itself, right? ( VF said so on their website). Unbiased review is great, but don't sacrifice your reputation by untruthful review. Nobody would ever believe you again... You'll be aware of plenty VF shortcomings if you search KZbin for it, especially VF cars/taxi in VN. That's why they couldn't even sell 1 car in the US, mostly just realsed or press cars are being used. I do understand you probably get paid to butter it up, but are you in the same league as Motortrend or Car and Drivers, etc.?!

My goal was to show the features of the car, not convince you to buy it. I realize the internet is an untrustworthy place but my subscribers (who have been here a lot longer than the commenters on this video) watch my videos because I’m not a condescending prick spewing numbers. I’m giving a viewpoint from consumer to consumer. Would I personally buy the VF8 City Edition? No. Would I consider the VF8 Standard in the future? Absolutely.

All Vinfast VF8 cars are recalled off the road now due to safety issue ....What a poor show. They have not been able to sell any cars in the US, only managed to lease about 100 cars over the period of more than 6 months since November 2022.

Fadra, thanks for a neutral and fair review of the 2023 Vinfast VF8 Plus City Edition. I have been driving this same model and exterior color since 3/18/2023 and loving it. Yes Vinfast will no doubt have to fix a few software issues to make it more perfect. The built quality of the car is very good. The ride is very sporty and the car is fast and powerful. The handling is solid. I have many videos in my channels to share my experience.

I test drove one in Northern California and it handle like a much cheaper,30k range, Toyota Corolla Hybrid. At this point it must be crazy to pay 56k plus 8.5% tax for a 207mile range VF8. Even Chevrolet bolt price and range makes VF8 laughable. You must have been driving a free press-vehicle from VF and and has no other choice but quack for them like a duck in the pond.

@@quocthai6264My comparison is purely base on driving experiences vs pricing. To compare ev to ev, vf8 can not even compare to Chevy Bolt in range and value. Vf8 is a very confused car. It looks luxurious and flashy but harsh and clumsy over pumps and turns. VF8 has both characteristics of expensive car and cheap car melted in one pot. That is why you see inconsistencies in reviews. If a reviewer approached the VF8 as a luxury car then he or she would rate it really bad. In the other hand, if the reviewer approached the vf8 as a practical every day car, then it would be a good car.

This is a nice and fair review. Sometimes I think that some reviewers are just jumping in the bandwagon of mercylessly bashing the vf8 and give it a bad press. Nothing is perfect, they will have to fix some stuff, but you mentioned it, they can fix stuff over the air. So it might be not so bad. They might have to reduce the price tag to start and to be more competitive since they're new and have a couple of things to fix.

With the price tag $56K, consumers have a lot of EV choices where they have better range, more reliability, better SW and country wide services. From what I see, VF8 does not have any cutting edge to compete in that price range.

Yeah, I agree with your vid title. Reading those articles has revealed their intention to destroy vinfast or disparage it because it is a car company from a developing country. The responsibility of a journalist working on cars should be fair, but in their article I don't see that, even many car-specializing newspapers have almost the same arguments without any reason. There are personal opinions, the core things of a car they don't mention much, they pick up everything that is unfavorable and mercilessly beat it up.

Great review. Great display of all the things you can do and change on the infotainment screen. Other reviewers bashed the car because of a bunch of beeps and sounds, but you showed how easily those can be tailored and configured to your desire. I am on waitlist. Test drive this weekend!!

It is a good car, but some features need to be improved (example memory seat not standard in eco model). The car itself is good, but im more worried about the business sustainability.

I know there are many choices for a EV car in US market. It is very competition, hard challenge in here..but i believe , Vinfast is really stronge player with widely vision, huge source, and very professional to make EV car. I don't have EV car to tell them but i only say about my experience this afternoon when i have taken a Vinbus tour in Hanoi ( Vinbus is EV bus of Vinfast ). I'm very comfortable and very chill in this bus, good service,no pollution and noice. Although weather is so hot in Hanoi today, outside about 45°C degree in a road. Im no word for VF. Let's try, feel by yourself.

Great review Fadra. Actually that's the official measure of acceleration time. 0-62 mph equals 0-100 kph. Just everybody in the U.S. rounds the 62 down to 60.

@@RealNguyenSinhCung well its aimed at the growing middle class and they are a small company that hasn't been able to scale yet. I dare say this is one of the most ambitious company i know of. within 5 years from scratch they are already entering the american market....that is crazy fast....like you have no idea. Mistakes will be made i'm sure....but only time will tell whether the company thrives in the global EV trade. Very hard to compete against China BUT if they can establish a loyal niche market, that might just make it. And it would be a huge boost to the country, which is why i'm hoping all the best for vinfast. Make vietnamese proud.

@@fatmanslim4592I really hope VF can quickly retrofit VF8 issues to improve driver experiences. US market is very competitive and notorious in class action lawsuit. US lemon law alone would sink VF.

Nice review, however, i am waiting on the Chinese SUV and cars to hit the US market because i think they will have better battery range, more economical and better quality. But good review though.
