Damn right. I was listening to them in like 5th grade, my favorite. I moved on once the Mighty Van Halen came to be, but still love some KISS. The HOF is a joke. It's a joke that KISS took this long to get in. It's a joke that Van Halen wasn't a first-ballot HOF-er, but Green Day was? It's a joke that Judas Priest is just now getting in, and not even as a performer. Maiden still isn't in. Boston isn't in. Ozzy isn't in as a solo act, but Ringo Starr is, just because he was a Beatle, and Stevie Nicks is as a solo act? LOL I can go on and on, but the HOF is dead wrong. KISS should have been in on their first ballot.

When I was a teenager, I was in foster homes. I loved Kiss. I was originally from New York and my real parents worked in hospitals in the Bronx. So I knew the area. From a fan mag, I found out that Ace grew up in the Bronx by the Grande Concourse. So, not knowing any better, I called information and asked for the phone # of Frehley. They had no number but they had an address that was Aces mother's name. I wrote her a letter - fan sort of stuff like did Ace leave any things there that you could send me; etc. But then I had the bright idea to ask her about herself. I taped a dime to the letter and said that that was so she could send me a picture of herself. I thought this might help to get a response. Well, I sent it then forgot all about it. Then one day I got this envelope that had Frehley as a return address. She was very sweet and thanked me for the dime and she sent me a xeroxed copy of a pic taken at parents night at Madison Square Garden with the rest of the band. She told me that Aces things were not in her home anymore. She said that Ace would stay inside and practice all the time while all the other kids were outside playing. She said if I worked real hard I could be great, to. That letter meant a great deal to me under the circumstances and I still remember it. I saw this video and remember what it was to be a Kiss fan. An outcast but you felt strongly about them. People acted like you were crazy for liking them. But you listened to the first Alive album like it was a holy relic. I thought I would share this story for the first time on here. Where I thought some people could appreciate it. Rock and Roll all night and treat yourself like #1.

As an original member of the Kiss Army I can say Tom nailed it. That's what being a Kiss fan was all about in the 70s. We were different because we chose to be different. As Paul said, we followed our own path and embraced the grief that came with it. We were the living spirit of REAL rock and roll awash in a sea of DISCO and pop and soft rock. Like Tom, my first concert was Kiss in the mid 70s and to this day it is the single most impactful, thrilling, unforgettable live evet I have ever attended. The spirit of Kiss will never die.

Saw KISS back in 1980 as an 18 year old in my home city Brisbane Australia. To this day still the best concert performance I have ever been to. The rain held off until the concert finished then it absolutely pissed down. Now that’s influence 👏👏👏👏👏🇦🇺

The best introduction speech ever. And one touching part at the 6:00 minute is the late and very great Glen Frey smiling and clapping along, even he agrees they should be in. Totally amazing

I remember when he died, and Paul Stanley commented on it. He mentioned how Glenn Frey came over to them that night and congratulated them and was happy for them.

"Over the past 41 years, KISS have earned 30 gold albums, including the four solo albums that were released simultaneously in 1978. The band has 14 platinum albums, with three going multi-platinum."

This was the very first band I loved. I was in the KISS Army, had every record, and played KISS Alive so much my record player gave out! I was Peter Criss for every Halloween and to this day still listen to it, and have the album cover on my basement wall as a keystone of my music room. KISS was an incredible influence in my life and gave me the power and strength to rise above societal norms and be who I am, not who everyone else wants me to be. Listening to KISS brought me to a place where everything was all right in my young teenager world. God love the original 4! The BEST! Thanks for posting this great induction KISS_FAN_JP

My favorite band ever and a HUGE thank you to Tom Morella introduction. When I was young boy I was picked on and beaten up for being a KISS fan. His speech brought tears to my eyes and I was so happy that after all the years of being overlooked, KISS has finally made it into the Rock and Roll HOF. They have done things no other band has ever done and have never gotten the praise they've deserved. KISS is the greatest American Rock band of all time. They and The Eagles are 1 and 1A. BEST INTRODUCTION EVER!

Long live Rock' n Roll !

Votre message est très touchant !! Pour ma part, je suis né en 2000 et mon père étant fan m’a fait découvrir. Le jour où j’ai écouté Alive II, ma vie a changé du tout au tout, j’ai eu envie de prendre une guitare immédiatement…
@rudyduee68492 жыл бұрын

Tom Morello did an exquisite job giving KISS their well-deserved recognition. Their induction was 15 years OVERDUE! However, what pissed me off was that KISS only received 17 minutes, while Nirvana got way over 30 minutes! Dave Grohl was the talent in that band!

Still going but not strong. I began in 1978 , loved them immensely til about 2001 but the Farewell Tour should have been the last. Now they are a mere shell of what they used to be. They stayed around 20 years too long.

I've followed KISS from the beginning and have just about every album (vinyl) that they have put out, and that I had bought throughout the years..I love Alive and Alive 2, but Destroyer did it for me..I have been a huge KISS Army fan most of my life and now at the young age of 55 lol, I am so happy that they made it into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame..I love all of the original members equally, they all possess so much talent that it rocks my soul..Congratulations to all of them especially to Ace and Peter for the sobriety and the beating of cancer..Thank You KISS for giving your fans one hell of a ride, It's been totally worth it throughout my lifetime..KISS ROCKS!!
