I was in search of which table saw I should buy on a budget. After hours of research I decided to go find a used Craftsman belt drive saw and rebuild it!
At this moment it hands down better and more versatile than any entry level direct drive saw on the market regardless of make or brand. So if you ask me about saw buying advice, my answer is buy a used one and make it like new!
In this video you will see the complete process of Craftsman 113.27520 table saw restoration.

I just bought one of these for $100, with the cast extension on one side and sheet steel extension on the other. It was kept in a garage with a leaky roof, the table has rust needing WD40 and sandpaper. I like your Red/Chrome color combo looks Retro.

I like the red. Belongs in a museum. My dad had one just like it. I built speaker cabinets with it in the 8th grade. Switch on motor, old school.

Same here, but I inherited mine from my dad 3 years back... 113.29903 (somewhere in the 1968-1970 range). He bought it new and I'll be tearing it down to clean, paint and tune it up before it goes into my new shop. I'd love to upgrade the motor to a 1.5 to 2 HP, if I can locate a decent (non-Chinese) used replacement (possibly convert to 220V operation as well). Hope I can do it as well as you did.

Hello, I am trying to repair an older 27520 craftsman. It has obviously been worked on and not properly re assembled. I have looked at the parts list, and can’t be sure where part 1212 goes in the tilt block. Seen in figure 4. , low center. Thank you

Really nice work. One question - how did you separate the cradle from the saw arbor? It swivels stiffly on the pin, but I cannot get a grasp on it to pull the arbor off the pin.
@MrStukov
@MrStukov 2 жыл бұрын
Glad you like it. I didn't actually disconnect it because my bearings were still in good condition. I reviewed my video and saw that I was only detaching the pulley from the saw arbor.

@@MrStukov Thanks, but at 3:35 in your video you are greasing up the arbor pin and replacing the arbor. That is the part I can't seem to remove so far.
@MrStukov
@MrStukov 2 жыл бұрын
@@WestyJoeS it seems that the separation of the parts in my case was so easy and flawless that it did not even remain in my memory. during disassembly I used WD-40 btw. Sorry that can’t help you.

NooB question: I just acquired this same saw. How do I keep the blade from turning when I try to use the wrench to remove the nut to change out the blade?
@MrStukov
@MrStukov 5 ай бұрын
To keep the blade from turning when using a wrench to remove the nut, first unplug the saw for safety. Then, take a sturdy piece of wood and insert it between the teeth of the saw blade and the base to prevent the blade from turning. With the wood in place, use the wrench to loosen the nut and change out the blade as needed.

No, I listened to how they sound and did some tests with the dial gauge and did not find any backlash, so I decided to leave them until they lasts.

I aquired a table saw model number 103.23833. How do i tighten the belt?
@MrStukov
@MrStukov 2 жыл бұрын
Motor plate is attached to the saw using two metal rods. So you can loose rods fixation bolts adjust back and forth until you get enough tension for the belt and then secure it back. Here you can see how I attach motor back to the saw kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnyappuAi5WAf5Y
@JohnDoe-hu4ph

@@MrStukov i guess this saw is missing that plate as i don't see two rods in that area. But thank you for the reply! Much appreciated!
