Vintage mayhem- Brushless Tamiya Lunchbox - old school bash!

I did this years ago as a kid, before brushless motors. My friend built a drag car and crashed it into a parking block. I bought his dragworks motor for my lunchbox. I had to tape D batteries behind the front crashbar, to keep the front end down so i could steer😂 I might have to get another one. Thank you for this!

I was 14 when I saved enough to buy and build the lunch box. That was a simpler time and why I still love working on these cars. Adding a drag motor with D batteries up front is legendary 😂 the motor esc combo was pretty cheap in my build. Hopefully you end up with the time to acquire build and run another one. @@rotationnationRC it was definitely a much simpler time. I was like 12 and was still learning how to tinker. I was still using the old school mechanical speed controller 😂 but that thing would still rip! I'd like to have that one back, just to laugh at the things I did.

How can I forget the rheostat speed controller! So many things to go wrong. They’d get rough and sticky or just short and burn down 🤣🤣😂😂🤣

A lot of power in a Lunchbox, I did something like that many years ago before brushless and lipo. I used a Parma 18t double motor, 8.4v and the pinion from a Hornet. Like yours wheelies it did not like and it crashed a lot just turning or slowing. Like yours still a lot of fun 🙂

Very cool! That motor was a gem too, would’ve a lot of fun to do that back in the day. I’m going to see what happens by swapping the shocks out. Try to keep the tires from stopping and flipping it when it comes down hard from wheelies. Should be fun 🤩

@@rotationnationRC I will be watching to see if you can control it better. I put shocks on mine from a Thundershot it had Blackfoot rims with the tyres stretched over making them slightly low-profile. It also had a Parma twin wheel wheelie bar, I think the parts they used came from a slot car. You broke a body post, I went through so many. Shame I had no video camera to record all that mayhem, but it was in the late 1980's.

@@BasBoyRC I remember Parma being the gold standard. Back then we focused on what we had and just had a blast with it. I remember the first set of shocks I bought I had to save up for. I think that mentality carry’s over today so we care for our cars not try to break them!

@@rotationnationRC You are right we had to look after our cars, parts were so much more expensive and I was working. I think the Parma motor was £35 a lot of money.

A buddy gave me a box of vintage stuff and I remember it being unobtanium back in the day. I put the trinity gem 14 from that lot in my tto2 it’s plenty good! $35 was ALOT!

What lipo pack brand and mah you using that looks like it’s correct size for TamiyA stuff?

Hi thanks for thr question. I use the 2s protec graphine. It fits perfect in anything that you can’t fit a shorty in. Fits great in xv02 pro, fazer and the M chassis.
