Vintage Story Desert Life Ep 2: Meeting Friends

Vintage Story Desert Life is a desert-themed survival playthough in version 1.19, with a large list of mods to speed up the process of building and chiseling. While our builds will all (or at least mostly) be in the desert, we are not restricted to hot and arid climates for the purposes of gathering materials and resources.
This series exists as a series of VODs, as well, but for people who prefer their videos in a more manageable length, the VODs will be cut into these shorter episodes and released throughout the week after each livestream, provided that there is enough desire for this format.

Plus for the stream, Its alot of Kurazarrh at one time. Plus for the episodes, allows me to pause and get up and get coffee. I could pause the stream but then it wouldn't be real time when I get back. But I sure enjoyed the stream. and I am enjoying rewatching the episodes. So win win either way.

It's nice to hear past me in a future video. I never thought that those guys to be the friends that you mentioned early on. Three traders and no storage... Bad luck. But the decorations are nice. I like the carpet, I have never seen that before. Is it new in the game?

I'm wondering if the lack of storage was intentional; these guys were added as part of the Trader Camps mod, so I don't know if there were other modifications made to the camp setups, perhaps to remove the storage because it does make the early game pretty easy cheesy. Carpet has been in the game for a while, but as of the current version, you can't make it yourself (at least, not without the Carpet mod!) and it's MIGHTY expensive to buy.

Congrats on this new beginning. Do you already have a precise idea of what you will be constructing in this desert ? I finally released my video but recording myself is a harder exercice I though haha I hope I will improve myself but I am far from your content quality. Thank you! I don't have an exact plan yet; after seeing the landscape, I'm kind of toying with 3 different ideas, and I might ask the chat for opinions on which option sounds the most interesting! I gave your video a watch; you really went all-out on the editing! Recording and editing certainly is work, but it'll get easier and more natural over time. :) Keep it up!

Is it me or do those hyenas react really strangely to getting speared? As in, why don't they come over and rip you a new one? I can understand them being less savage than wolves but you're being really aggressive and they just stand there? 🤪

Hyenas standing still when you hit them is an artifact of their programmed AI. We're outside their detection range, so they don't know what hit them. I think it would make sense if a wounded animal would pick a random direction and run, if they can't determine the source of the damage. But hyenas (at least in VS) are relatively cowardly anyway and will generally run rather than continue attacking, once you spear them once or punch them two or three times.

you can have 3 traders in one place? is that a mod?

It's possible in vanilla, but quite rare. I'm using a mod that pretty much inverts the ratio of triple and single traders.

I enjoyed this, however, I felt like the pacing was slow. I've literally been playing for less than 2 weeks but I move/gather/craft at least twice as quickly as you do. Maybe this was the nerves of streaming for the first time. I'd love to see newer content where you go balls to the wall.

Since this is from a live broadcast, and I'm splitting my attention between the game and the audience, I am unlikely to ever play at the speed that I would if I was just playing alone and not talking or narrating. There are also some actions that, due to being a lefty and certain hard-coded controls in the game, are more difficult for me, such as shift-clicking item stacks and such.
