I remember some of these well. Esp the Hoffmeister ads with George the Bear. Some accused the ads of promoting 'lager lout' culture!

John Smiths, tetleys, stones. That's what my old man would drink in the house, back in the 80s. He mainly just drank Yorkshire bitter, but I think I can remember him drinking castlemaine XXXX.🤔

ah Threshers, we had one at the end of the mews in Pimlico, not bad snacks and nibbles, not much on the wine but a good selection of vodka nice enough neighborhood, Tesco, the Tube, Tate, nice restaurants, a good base to tour London, 10 days wasn't enough but we were decompressing after a month in St. P. ru.

That Courage Best ad does have the actual Chas & Dave, right, and not just a soundalike? Pity the Stones Bitter only has a knock-off LS Lowry painting and not the genuine article, though - that would have been quite a coup 😋The woman who is offended at the waste of Mumm champagne is played by Elaine Stritch. She was in a couple of episodes of _Tales from the Unexpected_ but I don't recognised her from anything else listed on IMDb, so I can't work out why her face and voice is so damn familiar to me!

I'm pretty sure that's the real Chas & Dave. If not, it's a bloody good impression. 😆

In another 20/30 years, you'll be able to show the recent Bud-Light advert 🤡 There was a drink years ago called Double Diamond, that was the drink for me, but I was younger in those days, and tastebuds was easily pleased, today it's dark ales like Trooper, HobGoblin that hits the spot :)

It's a catchy slogan as written, but that glass is more like 2 gallons than a quart. Before this video, I never would have thought of the UK allowing the sale of boxed wine. Somehow, it seems even too common for cockneys and chavs.

I've only ever seen it used at parties.

Some really fun ads here, but not a one of them for anything I think I'd actually want to drink 😄 Talking of fun ads for things I wouldn't actually want to put in my body, I'd love to see some Tennent's adverts on one of these compilations, particularly the _Feminist_ , _Chauvinist_ , _Masochist_ and _Sadist_ ones (from 1994 or thereabouts), and the _Pintlings_ and _Pintlings Body Armour_ adverts, with a number of recognisable voices, including _Rebus_ 's Ken Stott.

Great selection there Steve. I always got the impression back the day that the Ozzy's were a right bunch of heavy boozer's, but nothing could be further from the truth. Ah, good old day's when Alcohol was advertised at any time during the day. Times have changed now and I'm not entirely sure if banning has had as much an impact here as what was hoped. I can understand the rules about not making it sexy or to boost sex appeal, enhancement of intellect or as a way to solve your problems, but still. I don't think it's had a great impact on drink driving either. It does make me wonder how many people, especially youngsters, who drink and drive daily. I work in the justice system and I can tell you, I see a lot of drink drive cases. Great nostalgia anyway!

Truthfully, I drink more now than before the ads were banned, but that's probably down to me getting older. Thanks for watching, as always. 🙂👍

A few Australians have mentioned to me that both drinks aren't particularly popular in Australia, ironically.

Do you have the Heineken export one where Stephen Fry says ‘smoother than an olive oil salesman inserting how you need some more olive oil into a general conversation about otters’? 😂
