I don't respect people because they speak from the heart. I respect people who have a good enough brain to speak from. Ryan gets a bit mystical, (not the study of reality), but other than that,--he has a good brain to speak from IMO. Watch out from people who speak from the heart. They can take a lot more away from us then their sweetness allows us to realize. :) All it does is pump blood. The brain is what makes us human. And we all have more potential there than we realize.

Now for the tough question for you. "Why?"

I think the reason why the older bikes had soft suspension was because we had 12" of suspension travel before we had big huge jumps. we had that softer suspension for the bumps the tracks sued to have in the 2-stroke days, some tracks never groomed. But at the speeds today with the EPA forced 4-stroke, bigger bumps are quite a hazard. The suspension today is set up for the jumps mostly, and do not handle the bumps of yesterday very well. If the tracks developed whoops in the ruts, (for one example), I doubt they could stay in the rut with both wheels quite often.

I still make my own parts for my bike. I got rid of the batman art plastic on my 2019 YZ250 2-stroke, (cut off the silly arrow tips and used a 2014 fender), made my own full wrap hand guards that are better than anything on the market (but can not find a buyer to put them into production Just give me 10 grand and they are yours.). I could not find a 1979 nice front number plate to replace the mystical God Thor's arm shield, and a Frisbee there made me laugh. So I designed and machined the mounts to mount a Frisbee, (quick release. No tools needed) for a front number plate. I also lowered the seat 1" and the suspension .75" and it will now out corner any modern bike on flat ground. Then, I lowered the power down the rpm range for the motor so the power curve is actually good for something. Would love Ryno to take it for a ride. Doug in Michigan

250 and 125 too. To bad Honda won't reproduce a special sell of like 2000 of them. Vintage racers, who still have money, would scoop them up and keep them alive. :)
