I remember that Bugatti was also in the process of starting production of EB112's at the time that the Banks came in and sized everything. I remember reading about what happened to Bugatti in some of the car magazines. I much prefer the EB110 to the Veyron and Chiron. I remember Marcello Ghandini designed the angular EB110 prototype, then Bugatti switched to Gorgetto Gugaro's design for the production car. Great story. Thank you.

On a side note B Enginnering also produced their own car the Edonis out of EB 110 parts. Shared the engine, the chasis except for the AWD. It's quite rare as only 21 cars were made. It was also the test bed for the Michelin PAX tyres that were made for the Veyron.

I've heard this story about this new EB110, handed to a Portuguese customer in a trailer, that when the time came to turn the key it simply wouldn't run... This was exacty when Bugatti was deemed insolvent... Because of this, and without anyone from the factory to help him, the owner wasn't able to get the car working, and it has been sitting in his garage ever since (undriven)... Cheers from Portugal

The Dauer cars were sold as Dauers, not Bugattis. The eb110ss that b engineering finished had already been registered as a Bugatti so it was worth more. The provenance of the name is worth money and Bugattis is worth a hell of a lot more than a company no one has ever heard of even if it was run by the engineers who used to work there.

I have always been confused how this car isn't looked upon the same as the F1, F40, XJ220 etc. It was a space ship.
@TProfileG
@TProfileG Жыл бұрын
The XJ220 and the Bugatti were launched at a really bad time. Both space ships but both were flawed in a way the F40 wasn't due to its simplicity. I worked for Jaguar when they had a load of XJ220s that had not been sold. Bad timing and the fact it wouldn't reach the promised 220mph. Doomed the XJ220. The Bugatti was way too complex and heavy in comparison to a F40. I don't think the EB110 is a looker.
@JoJoJoker

One could say the EB110 was everything promised in the original XJ220. Back when these Bugattis were new it was some weird old brand. Ferrari and Lambo were the cool cars at the time.

I LOVE eb110s. There was a time when ppl talked them down. To me this and the Moroder Cizeta/Cizeta 16T are the most amazing cars. It's not just about rarity and looks which are top notch, it's about passion : I love the fact that they did not give a damn and went for it. They failed, but are the most interesting cars I'll never see (yeah duh !) Sure, some more modern cars are more noteworthy, like the Carrera GT (just an example don't @ me), but these were the last from a period when what sticked worked, and I love that. They tried, failed, and it was amazing

Honestly, I find the ending quite disappointing. They went through all this effort to find a "lost" car, practically sitting idle for who knows many years, and then sold it to the next-best collector, who probably maximized their profit. While said collector will probably take good care of the vehicle, it will likely sit idle and hidden for ages again. This car is one of the most legendary supercars and needs to be actively driven and seen / heard by people, so that it doesn't get "lost" again.

It's the final Dauer EB110 S: "This EB110 S seems to be a lightweight version with only RWD. The paint job had been designed by the Prof. Walter Maurer, in Germany. The car was never finished and unofficially, had covered a lap of the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife in less than 7 mins... It was liquidated by 2009, with the (Germany-based) company “Toscana Motors GmbH” buying the remaining parts along with Dauer’s tools and 21 chassis and since providing the regular servicing as well as repairs for surviving EB110s. Disappeared since, no one knows where it remains." - source EB110 Registry
@DbsDownunder
@DbsDownunder Жыл бұрын
@@4K1R4-00 I heard a few confirmed sources one is still being built. Toscana had 6 or 7 bare chassis (rare but awesome photo to see) and someone bought one, and 1 of every part they had in their containers to make a modern build. But as not all parts are available, it requires alot of re-manufacturing of parts by hand. This was 2018. They thought they'd finish it by 2020, but Covid blah blah blah. I'm yet to see any further news about this German car surfacing, so my ownly assumption is it is still being finalised.

Ask yourself, “would I be happy if I spent 10 minutes of MY day to watch these?” I certainly haven’t been recently so I think I’ll take a break. Its a terrible story, Basically...Enzo's company were pulling every trick they could to disrupt production. From Agent provocateurs in the workforce to Suppliers being strongarmed (ie supply anymore parts to Bugatti and we will pull all funding development and future orders from you etc etc etc) The workforce were very proud to be working there so were really trying hard to excel in everything they did to the car. This iteration of Bugatti had really put the wind up some of the Major Super car builders as it really was Head and Shoulders better than anything else being offered and was 5-10 years in the future...4 wheel drive, Quad turbo V12? It showed just how Lazy some of the other Companies were being. (Primarily the Pony!) So they shelved Him,

That terminology/description comes from truck/offroad enthusiasts that insisted on a way to distinguish their "real" 4wd trucks from the owners of "shitbox" Audis and Talons of the car world. Car people with no interest in offroad trucks have no interest in your petty distinctions. If it has four driven wheels, it is by definition 4wd. Also your description of 4wd is not entirely true. There are plenty of full time 4wd vehicles out there. My old Dodge Ramcharger is an example. Yes it had a transfer case to switch between high, low and low locked ranges but neither option was RWD. Low lock just locked the center diff but even unlocked, it's still 4wd.

I know no one will believe me, but I know "someone" that was on Bugatti at the time and he told me about that bankrupt and why it happened. Artioli is maybe a little indulgent with himself (my personal opinion) but basically he's right: Bugatti paid 40+% of debt when he declared failure and it was a "very rich" bankrupt, probably a salvageable situation. There was the interest of a major car company, but Bugatti failed from a day to another before they can sign the agreement

Different drive. Some people are motivated by money. With an ultravaluable car you can't drive it if you want it to keep its value. No one actually drives their EB110. Parts and maintenance specialists just don't exist. He also likely didn't want to risk the market crashing with the ongoing recession so he sold it while it was still hot.
