Trent - mate - welcome back! Hot there but frickin' fteezin' here in Oz :( Your very strong purging your collection like that, I applaud you sir. It does mean you can get others that you really want & you always get something back when you want! Congrats on the kitty man, great company. Highlights on this vid for me were: Delta Sweete original press (agree, her best), Tony Joe White (have his 2nd in WB, superb underrated) & finally 13th Floor, like WOW congrats on that ( and I hate you a little bit now, ok just kidding), nice one. Stay well bud, great vid as usual.

What’s up man! Happy to hear from you again! Thank you though, at first I thought purging would be tough, but it was easier than I expected. Plus the acquisition of more things I really wanted helped the process, and exactly! Can always get things back if I want them. Thank you though! Bowie’s a great little boy, needs to listen to some more jazz though. And it’s ok to hate…as long as it’s not for too long! Lol. Hope you’re doin good man, stay warm!

Hey Trent! It's been a while, your videos weren't popping up in my feed for some reason. Every once in a while, I like to step back and think about what albums I really listen to and what hasn't been played in months. I first listened to the floating bridge album a few months ago and I thought it was amazing, what a great find! 13th floor elevators is so cool, saw one once at a record show, probably should have bought it, but didn't have the funds at the time. Hope all is well. ✌️

Hey my man, nice to hear from ya! I’m now consistently always stepping back and asking myself which ones get played and most of what I have left does so it stays, but I also ask myself that when buying an album. Floating Bridge is killer though! Some classic Seattle psych. And my buddy hooked up that 13th Floor Elevators for me! That’s an album I wanted for a very longggg time so still stoked to have it. Take care man! Hopefully will see some new videos from ya soon!

Hello Trent. Interesting video and thoughts about collecting. I made the opposite move from you. I used to purge my CD collection by eliminating those I never listened to. But now, since I watch all these videos from the vinyl community, I tend to keep everything. Go figure...I love cats too (I have 2). Doubt mine are interested about music. I think they could not care less and sometimes they are bothered when the sound is too loud. cheers. Thierry

Well everyone collects in their own way! I find it interesting how other people collect whatever it is they collect because there’s so many schools of thought on it. But cats are great! Cheers!

Would’ve loved to see a video showing your purging process and some of the highlights of what you were taking out of your collection! I fund most of my vinyl hobby through swap meets, thrift, and garage sales so I sell and purge very frequently. That being said I’ve still amassed close to 600 records in like 4 years. There’s definitely many records that I like but I don’t listen to and I need the space but can’t bring myself to do a massive purge.

To be honest with you there wasn’t really a true system behind it. I just set an amount I wanted to keep and I pulled that many out and decided everything else was gonna go one way or another hahah. I do a lot of trading and did even before this purge. It’s a great way to acquire quality albums for either nothing or just cheaper prices. I’m trying to learn to let go of the attachment with my albums, but it’s hard with the rare stuff and stuff I actually listen to. So for now those will just stay hahah. A big purge does feel liberating though! Plus I love the thrill of the hunt so it’ll be fun to try and find some stuff again

I'm enjoying having lots of records to play, how do I know what's good unless I give it a chance? Also, even some "bad" records are enjoyable for their "HiFi" or lack of, with my "new" MC cartridge and systemdek.
@trentsrecords
@trentsrecords 2 жыл бұрын
Totally understandable! Everyone collects in their own way which is one of the reasons why I love this hobby. I still absolutely love discovering new music and comparing the fidelity and such, but just based on my budget I’d rather be spending what I allow myself on more quality vs quantity. But the new MC cartridge and systemdek sound exciting! It’s like hearing your collection for the first time again!

Been wanting an original of LA woman forever! Iv had an reissue for the longest time as it is also my favourite by ‘the doors’. Still on the hunt to find a good clean copy. I see that ‘sacred mushrooms’ behind you, is that an original? Again I only have an reissue as original go for £100’s. Great vid as always

Hey Martin! Sorry I haven’t been around as much lately, but congrats on hitting 100 subscribers man! I’ve also been wanting a really nice copy of LA Woman for a long time so I’m happy to finally have one! Easily my favorite Doors album. But good eye! It is a copy of Sacred Mushroom, but it’s a reissue. I’d love to have an OG because they’re also from Ohio like myself…feels like I’m obligated to get one! Cheers Martin!

Awesome update video 👏👏👏. So much to talk about. Congratulations on the your new roommate Bowie. I have a furry guy that visits me when I spin records too. I agree that quality over quantity is best. I’ve been systematically going through my collection and purging as well (perhaps not as bluntly as you have but this video proves you made the right decision). Your friend Aaron @ n.s.u._records and I just had a conversation about quality over quantity. Thanks for sending me his way. He seems like a great dude. Bob Seger System is great. Just picked up Mongrel recently but haven’t spun it yet. ATMP is a great record and probably George’s best. I traded my beat up US copy for a NM Canadian copy complete with intact box, poster and inner sleeves. Great album. That Sticky Fingers first press is awesome. I have a Canadian first press that sounds great. The Canadian pressing is supposedly the best pressing out there. Haven’t heard any other so can’t confirm. And finally what can I say about the Elevators. An absolute grail! Glad you got a copy and that two friends helped make it happen. That makes it even more of a special find. Fantastic!

Thank you my man! It’s really great having a little buddy around to enjoy the music with. He seems to enjoy Bill Evans quite a bit, but not so sure he’s sold on all the psych hahaha. Aaron’s great though! He’s become a good friend and we’re always trading albums and buying from each other. He’s got a killer collection too, happy you two got to talk! Mongrel is a really good album though. I’m gonna definitely be on the lookout for another copy. I think ATMP is definitely George’s best though. But will have to look into the Canadian Sticky Fingers! But I believe any Elevators album is a grail these days, just so tough to find, so I’m super stoked to have a copy at all! Cheers man, and thank you!
