The birth control pill can make periods lighter, more regular, and less painful. It can also stabilize hormone irregularities, and prevent ovarian cancer. They don’t care about that. I'm reminded of the garbage cans FULL of condom packs that were free for the taking by sailors as they left the ships to go on liberty in foreign ports. We handed out condom packages in sick bay like party favors while we were docked in liberty ports. We went through hundreds of them. You always have some cases of venereal disease because some people won't use protection. Usually, the folks who needed treatment subsequently became enthusiastic proponents of condoms! VD ain't pretty and it's frequently uncomfortable; and that's the stuff that's NOT usually life-threatening (at least immediately!) Limiting access to contraception would be a huge mistake.

"Conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas suggested the highest court in the land should reevaluate “1965’s Griswold v. Connecticut which protects the ability of married couples to obtain contraceptives without government interference. This decision overturned an actual Connecticut law banning the use of "any drug, medicinal article or instrument for the purpose of preventing conception” by married couples."

Floridian here, It's always been ID required to buy condoms. Minimum age is 16 to purchase. Some other fun facts: 1) it's a prostitution charge if a woman has even one on her. 2) They record who buys them. 3) DeSantis has already tried, or been successful in, criminalizing a number of innocuous behaviors such as co-ed roommates (which can charged as high as F3, with a minimum of 5 years) and applies along both karyotype and phenotype. 4) The state has banned inverted karotype intersex persons from all publicly held restrooms.

No, it’s for mongering enough. It is no joke. Do you ever go onto any podcasts and listen to the right wing people talk? No birth control, men or women. Women need to stay home take care of their unlimited number of children, which is only appropriate because the husband is going to Work 2 to 3 jobs to afford all of these children they keep having. For those unable to have their own children they will not be able to access IVF. if the pregnancy is not viable or dies inside the mother, as we can already see they don’t really care what happens to the mother. I know it’s about controlling women, but you would think at some point they think about the men they are burdening with a consistently pregnant wife and an unlimited number of children that he hast to provide for. While they haven't specifically brought up condoms, several Republican lawmakers and candidates have brought up legislation banning contraception. It used to be illegal until Griswald v Connecticut, and one other scotus case. But conservative justices have already discussed overturning those cases if they came up. Such bans would force it to go to the courts, bringing it back up, possibly giving scotus the opportunity to do so. Bit sure, it's all in our heads, even though those with the power to have already said they plan to do so.

With the changes Trump's backers intend to implement within the executive branch (assuming a Trump victory), he would be able to bypass Congress entirely, ruling by executive order. There would be legal challenges sure, but only by democrats, because every _principled_ Republican has been driven out of congress by their own constituents, and those remaining are spineless worms who will bow to Trump no matter what he does. This has been demonstrated time and time again, every time Trump pushed the party to the right, and the establishment cons went along with it. Also, because of the hundreds of extremist right wing ideogues that were appointed to the courts during Trump's first term (thanks to the Federalist Society for that), those legal challenges can be held up in court indefinitely. If you think it can't happen, you haven't been watching. They've been moving the pieces into place for years now. All they need is for Trump to regain the white house to start implementing these changes. Read up. Half of it is literally spelled out on Trump's OFFICIAL site, as campaign promises (it's under "Agenda 47"). ...or, simply bury your head back in the sand and go back to sleep.
