Michele, these thumb exercieses are just what I needed after recently getting off my cast and brace from a broken wrist bone! My thumb was unable to reach two of my outer fingers or across my palm, and now after doing your exercises I am much looser! Your teaching approach is so compassionate and well informed, you are a blessing to us all! Thanks for the years of study you did to be able to help us, and for all the hours you worked on your videos!

Hi Michele, I broke my wrist 2 years ago and after my cast came off, they discovered that the tendon from my wrist to my thumb had detached. I had surgery that took a tendon from my index finger and repaired the one in my thumb. I did therapy after the surgery and regained some range of motion, however, I am unable to move my thumb back towards my wrist very far as the knuckle joint closest to the wrist does not bend back. I discovered your videos a few days ago and your exercises have already helped me gain more strength and range of motion in my thumb and entire hand. Thank you.

I broke my wrist on July 2023 and after a 2 wks of therapy and a CT scan I was told to stop therapy n use brace. I just had my second surgery on which all hardware (8 screws n plate) were removed. Thank God! I'm now scheduled for therapy next wk, but I'm lucky to have come across your videos. I've been working my fingers since first surgery. I know I have a long way to go because my fingers are still stiff, but I'm getting close to making a fist. It's very hard getting my thumb across because my tendons are still tight, n my palm very tender. Greatly apprec your videos!

I just found your site. So thankful. Had surgery on one hand ( need same on left hand) last yr where a bone was removed from behind the thumb , a hole drilled and tendon from forearm pulled through hole. Left is getting so bad but I can’t go through another surgery! So I pray that exercise will prevent it. Thank you !

My right thumb joint hurt so bad for a month now as I did a lot of paint by numbers for 3 months of lockdown here in NSW due to repetitive motion holding small paint brushes for too long. I can’t use my right thumb even just pressing a remote control of tv. My thumb is getting better now. I’m doing this exercise daily and I love your comforting voice too. Thanks so much

Thank you so much for sharing. I have IP thumb pain for about 2 to 3 weeks time. It will be more painful during sleeping time, once I tried to bend my thumb during the night time. After I have done the thumb exercises about 3 times yesterday. Yesterday night, I did not feel pain when I bend my thumb during the middle of the night and this morning my thumb feel much much better. Super TQ

I am currently doing this exercise, and I am on exercise number for an even after number one I already feel so much better. My thumb became stiff out of nowhere and made me a bit afraid because I was concerned about injury. Again I am on exercise number for and I already feel such a huge difference! Thank you!

I have arthritis in cmc joints of both hands and trigger thumb on the right. My hands are stiff in the morning, and these help.....along with the exercises from my OT. I want to avoid any surgery, so thank you for keeping my hands functioning.

I was suffering from a trigger finger for some weeks. Most of the excercises gave me a temporary relief. It was painful in the morning as you wake up and would gradually ease off later with the exercises. However I had to apply olive oil on my wife's feet and massage for a different reasons everyday before going to bed and I had to use the hand with the trigger finger. Naturally when I did the massaging my whole palm was used. Indirectly my trigger finger too was massaged. Now my finger is almost totally back to normal. I have no pain at all when I wake up or feel any discomfort during the day. May be massaging with olive oil for sometime could also be a remedy. for this.

Thanks Michelle for these exercises. I just had my hard cast removed yesterday after having CMC Arthroplasty a 30 days ago! My surgeon advised me to start doing some stretching exercises and I’ve found this video and your wrist flexion video very helpful. Thanks Michelle. I had surgery with pins in pinky finger. After the pins & cast removed, it’s affected my entire hand. My pinky is still swollen. I think the cast was too tight. So thankful, the stiffness is completely removed after these series if exercises. I will continue until no stiffness is coming any more. It appeared suddenly, no injury, in the mornings after the night's sleep I can not flex my right hand thumb.

Thank you! Best thumb physio video on YT. One thing I did not see covered is a stretch back towards the wrist. Would be good to see a 6th exercise for that. I have pain and stiffness when i gently guide my thumb back towards my wrist with my other hand. I think I have tendonitis as a result of a military press exercise I did.

Thank you for this video! I am currently in OT for therapy after having an ulnar collateral ligament repair March 23, 2023. During my immobilization, my wrist and other 4 fingers became super stiff and painful. During OT, they have been stretching to extreme pain my thumb and wrist to flexion as a way to improve flexion but I disagree. Your exercises leave me sore but not all day pain.
