Can the top freezer fit a small bag of ice?

Do you notice any weird popping noise like ice expanding and breaking? I have mine in the bedroom, so I can hear the noise it makes night and day. Would you say the noise is normal or something I should consider exchanging out?

FYI - the temp controls are labeled backwards....COLDEST=warm and COLD=Coldest...at least that's what happened on mine. Lost in translation I guess.
