Visualize The FUN With Garmin XT - Retyped Maps - Tutorial - Topo Sweden V6 & City Navigator

Tutorial on Garmin XT, Highlight gravelroads!
Retype the Topo Map on Garmin Zumo XT and make it useful for Adventure Motorcycling.
Only tested on Garmin XT, there are other retype files for older navigators and topo maps.

• Köp en licens av Topo Sweden V6 Pro. Kostar c:a 1700.-. Kan vara Download eller på SD-kort.
• Koppla in Zumon (eller SD-kortet till PC'n. Leta i Zumons internminne eller SD-kort efter filer av typerna .img,
.gma och .unl. Notera vilka som finns.
• Installera kartan Topo Sweden V6 Pro på Zumon. Kontrollera att den funkar.
• Leta återigen på Zumons internminne eller SD-kort efter filer av typerna .img, .gma och .unl. Det skall ha
tillkommit tre med inbördes liknande namn. En stor på c:a 1.8 GB som innehåller kartan och två små som
innehåller licensdata. Namnen kan variera men låt oss anta att de i detta fall heter 1234.img, 1234.unl och
1234.gma. Kopiera in dem till PC'n och spara dem som backup.
• Tag bort 1234.img från Zumo/SD-kort.
• Byt namn på Zumo/SD-kortets 1234.unl till TopoSwe6-ZumoXT.unl.
• Byt namn på Zumo/SD-kortets 1234.gma till TopoSwe6-ZumoXT.gma
• Tanka hem filen www.resmark.se.... Byt namn på den hemtankade filen
till TopoSwe6-ZumoXT.zip . Extrahera zip-filen till en vanlig mapp på PC'n. Nu har du tre filer:
• HMR-ZumoXT.kmtf . Den skall du lägga i Zumons mapp Themes. Tema lämpat för Topo Sweden V6 Pro.
• HMRi8189.TYP . Typfil att användas om du skapar egna kartfiler av Topo Sweden V6 Pro.
• TopoSwe6-ZumoXT.img.data. Byt namn till TopoSwe6-ZumoXT.img och kopiera den till den plats i Zumo/SD-kort
där den borttagna 1234.img tidigare fanns.
• Klart!
Do this:
• Buy a license of Topo Sweden V6 Pro. costs approx. 1700 SEK Can be downloaded or on SD card.
• Connect the Zumo (or SD-card the PC. Look for Zumo's internal memory or SD card for files of the types .img,
.gma and .unl.
• Install the map Topo Sweden V6 Pro on Zumon. Check that it works.
• Search the Zumon's internal memory or SD card again for files of types .img, .gma and .unl. It must have
added three with mutually similar names. A large one of approx. 1.8 GB that contains the map and two small ones
contains license data. The names may vary but let's assume that in this case they are called 1234.img, 1234.unl and
1234.gma. Copy them to the PC and save them as a backup.
• Remove 1234.img from Zumo/SD card.
• Rename the Zumo/SD card's 1234.unl to TopoSwe6-ZumoXT.unl.
• Rename Zumo/SD card's 1234.gma to TopoSwe6-ZumoXT.gma
• Download the file www.resmark.se.... Rename the home tanked file
to TopoSwe6-ZumoXT.zip . Extract the zip file to a regular folder on the PC. Now you have three files:
• HMR-ZumoXT.kmtf . You must put it in Zumon's Themes folder. Theme suitable for Topo Sweden V6 Pro.
• HMRi8189.TYPE . Type file to be used if you create your own map files of Topo Sweden V6 Pro.
• TopoSwe6-ZumoXT.img.data. Rename to TopoSwe6-ZumoXT.img and copy it to that location in Zumo/SD card
where the deleted 1234.img used to be.
• Done!

Thanks Tjommi! I'm pretty sure that some of Your countrymen appreciate this, when riding overe here in the gravelroad paradise. I missed this when riding in Latvia as well, since CN also get highlighted gravel/forest roads. Just had a quick look in City Navigator and where we were in Latvia, like day or night in comparison. Both presented villages/areas and gravel/forest roads. Difference is spending time glaring at vague or no "roads" to have them clearly apperaing. Saves time and better safety.

Hi thanks for your very interestint videos. Is it possible to use Topo maps on the XT2 ? I mean, when you download a topo map, do you see all details, tracks, paths, etc… like on the Montana ? Is it possible to have turn by turn ? Many thanks

Montana is a great outdoor device, used by many trailriders due to some functions. How it handle tracks f.ex. instead of routes. But the XT/XT2 does both really well.in rhis video you have eatched i actually use the Swedish Topo map Friluftskartan V6. I compare itvto CityNavigator in some scenes to show the difference. When I zoom in there is alot more details on the topomap. You see buildings as well at that map.

That's great, Mathias. I've just done that on Osmand (inbuilt deature) which I'm trying out on an Android Outdoor smartphone. With my old Zumo 390 the tracks are not shown well and there's is not much I can do. Great result on a Zumo XT. Dear Santa ;-) Cheers, Günter/Nürnberg

Hi Günter, that sounds great to improve the Osmand maps as well. I did this retyping on the Topo map in my older Zumo as well. I think it's both a matter of better navigation and as well safety. Quick look down on the navigator and You get a faster picture of whats happening infriats of You. Thanks for looking by the channel 🙏.
