2:38 What causes B1 deficiency?
3:10 What could you do?
Today we’re going to cover what you need to know about a vitamin B1 deficiency. Vitamin B1 is a helper vitamin. When someone switches over to a ketogenic diet, they need a lot of vitamin B1 to support the mechanism of fat-burning or fat metabolism.
Vitamin B1 deficiency symptoms:
• Nervous energy
• Edema in the calves
• Numbness and tingling in the hands and feet
• Increased heart rate
• Restless legs
• Seasickness or car sickness
• Nightmares
• Air hunger
A few causes of B1 deficiency:
1. Sugar
2. Refined grains
3. Alcohol
4. Liver damage
5. Stress
6. Caffeine
7. Birth control pills
8. Antacids
What you could do for a vitamin B1 deficiency:
1. Cut out any of the causes listed above
2. Take nutritional yeast (unfortified)

I had taken the first dosage of Vitamin B1 before going to bed. It made a huge difference. I had no mind racing, no anxiety, no nightmares, and no restless leg syndrome. With the combination of magnesium glycinate, I slept like a baby last night. I haven't slept like this in years. The amount of sleep that I had gotten had greatly improved after taking Vitamin B1 for the 1st time. Thank you so much Dr. Berg.

@alltruckfleet

@@browneyedgirlFL67 It seems to be. I cycle my supplements. I don't want to create a deficiency so I try to take the nutritional yeast and when I feel like I need more, I will take specific vitamins or supplements. I've been doing a lot more teas now. But I think my biggest issue is hormonal, blood sugar balance. Im not diabetic but I do have to watch out for my levels. BTW, I have always been very sensitive to my body's reactions and symptoms...(MORE anxiety haha!) Also, I was having a little wine most evenings, half a serving, but stopped completely and that seemed to help my anxiety level to subside. Hope this helps!

Eric: you have an excellent KZbin channel that I personally find helpful. I hope maintain it vs. just posting vs. commenting back. Great job of explaining B-1 deficiencies but not much in the way of increasing it and what specific supplements should one use? If I'm attempting to raise all my Vitamin B levels, what specifically is the best NATURAL & PREFERABLY ORGANIC VITAMINS SHOULD I TAKE??? Also, what foods will provide the most overall vitamin B intake? As for vitamins & supplements, could you please tell me which Brands & Manufacturers produce the Purist, Highest Quality Vitamin and mineral supplements? Maybe your top 5 makes & types? Will a Vitamin B complex address low Vitamin B-1 levels? Thanks very much in advance for any advice & help you can provide me with.William ~

I have had Fibromyalgia diagnosed since 1988, but probably much longer. I’ve tried about everything possible to help that, but no longer prescription medication specifically for fibromyalgia. My high heart rate had been passed off as another odd symptom of fibromyalgia. However, at 72 my dr had me checked out and was given Atenolol. I wasn’t given it specifically because of fibromyalgia, but just to reduce the heart rate. I watched your video here on B1 and it appears just about everything I’ve got is possibly, or maybe probably a result of lack of B1! I am amazed at the amount of symptoms you listed that I have! I am not diabetic, but even have neuropathy. Oh - and the brain fog - that’s been horrible! Anyway, I purchased some yesterday and have started using it. Thank you so much for sharing this!

I tried b1, before and it did nothing. Last night I took 4 b1 pills. Well, usually when I sit in my chair to watch the news (the toilet), my legs fall asleep, and it's the painful sleep, too. When I stand up I have to stand there for a min til the nerves wake back up. Today, that didn't happen. It must be because I took 4 and not the 1 or 2. Maybe by coincidence? So, tonight I'll take 4 again and see how tomorrow goes. Also, if I tap my lower lip, with my finger, it feels like the nerves vibrate like a symbol does on a drum set. Today, that didn't happen (until later in the day). I should have brought my b1 pills to work.

Dr Berg, please recommend the daily dosage of B1. My wife uses the regular dosage on the vitamin bottle which seems not to work too good. So please recommend the right dosage. Thanks

I was told by my doctor not to follow the ketogenic diet because it's unhealthy. He said I should eat a balanced diet so I tried the Agoge diet and I'm starting noticing less belly fat really fast.
