Vitamin B1-Thiamin(e) Deficiency-----So many symptoms!--Part 1
Dr. Derrick Lonsdale
“It is a critical and rate-limiting co-factor to multiple enzymes involved in this process, including those at the entry points and at critical junctures for the glucose, fatty acid, and amino acid pathways.”
“thiamine availability dictates molecular oxygen homeostasis and mitochondrial ATP production.”
Thiamin dependent enzymes: there are more than the 5 listed.
1. Transketolase
2. Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Complex
3. 2-Hydroxyacyl-CoA Lyase
4. Branched Chain Keto-Acid Dehydrogenase
5. Alpha-Ketoglutarate Dehydrogenase Complex
Recommended daily intake men 1.2 mg and women 1.1mg
B vitamins are water-soluble, so they dissolve quickly in the body. Half life 1-12 hours with approx. 30 mg stored muscle, heart, brain, liver and kidneys which can be depleted in 2-3 weeks. Or with acute illness it can be depleted in as little as 72 hrs. Absorbed in the jejunum of the small intestine by diffusion.
Thiamin deficiency is rare in the US but sub-optimal levels are quite common. True deficiency is called Beri Beri which cause damage to nerves, muscles and cardiovascular system.
Wet beri beri-cardiovascular system(shortness of breath, tachycardia) and edema
Dry beri beri-nervous system, N/T in hands and feet, confusion, memory loss, trouble moving the legs and pain.
Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome-alcoholics, malabsorption, anorexia

Yes about 75% of GI issues are due to GMO garbage from farmers playing with the crops and spraying them with pesticides and plus food these days is void of nutrients so it's a culmination of nutrient deficiencies and the body rejecting GMO fake food. The other 25% is due to genetic predisposition.

Well, I haven't listened to the entire video yet, but I have been looking into this. I am thinking this subclinical "deficiency" is highly correlated to the COVID brain fog issue. Stress and infection deplete Thiamine, hence brain fog etc. Optimal Thiamine is not the same as an amount that masks clear symptoms. I even give my potted.plants thiamine.

It doesn’t mimic them, it causes them! B vitamins are crucial for Nervous System support & repair. All of them, but particularly B1 & B12. So many of our modern diseases are just due to undiagnosed Thiamine deficiency, particularly anything with Nervous System involvement. And it is no coincidence that most, if not all of the CV & long-haul symptoms mirror those of Thiamine deficiency, either…….

At 1:00 you gives a quote that made me think. Maybe it is the thiamine deficiency due to impaired apsorbtion caused by excess alcohol consumption that is making alcoholics thin in the last stages? Because they do get excess calories from the alcohol, and of course they lack fatty acids and amino acids in their diets, but maybe they cannot utilise them even when they get some? Just wondering about this. Haven't read the literature.

Vitamin B2 and Mg. Another KZbinr (might have been Elliot Overton) mentioned that increasing vitamin B1 consumption causes increased utilization of vitamin B2 and magnesium, which necessitates taking them with high-dose vitamin B1 in order to avoid certain negative effects and enable vitamin B1 to carry out many of its functions.
@Vurt72
@Vurt72 Жыл бұрын
I found it, this is the comment: " B1 increases demand for B2, but adding B2 may not do anything if there is an underlying iodine, selenium, and/or molybdenum deficiency. As most are iodine deficient and unaware of it, adding iodine-iodide such as Iodoral can be extremely helpful. Very important to check into this, as iodine (as well as selenium and molybdenum) is necessary to activate B2. A B1 therapy "crash" can be avoided or fixed by having enough of these other important cofactors."
