Most studies are financed by Big Pharma directly or indirectly. So you will never find large studies that confirm the benefits of Vitamine based treatments, nor about natural treatments, without their equivalent trying to put them in doubt. So any conclusion based on studies from which we don't know precisely who financed them, and what is the resume of the searchers, are mostly bs.

@@jcoyutube You can't just change the result of a study however you like it. Well you could, but if you're called out on it your career is pretty much ruined. I don't say that you can't influence the result, because you can, but you can't pick whatever result you want. And of course most studies on the field of medicine are financed by big pharma, that's how they find out which compounds they can use in their products. However there are also a lot of studies which are not funded by big pharma. Not even indirectly. If just one study shows the result and it can't be replicated it's highly unlikely that this result was correct.

I am 73 years old and weigh 245 lbs. I have taken 10,000 to 15,000 iu of D3 daily for the last 6 years when I am not getting regular summer sun exposure. Doing this has cut my doctor visits by about 95%. I have my blood serum vitamin D level tested yearly and it runs between 76 and 120 ng/ml but is usually around 80 ng/ml. I suggest watching Dr. Robert P. Heaney's youtube interviews and lectures on this subject. He researched vitamin D for more than 40 years at Creighton University and is a recognized award winning expert on this subject. He says that every nucleated cell in our body has vitamin D receptors and he explains why vitamin D is critical to optimum cell function. He says the we should keep our serum D level between 40 and 60 ng/ml and that they heavier you are the more vitamin D you will need to maintain these levels. He once recommended that that taking 75 iu of vitamin D3 for every kilogram of body weight would be about the right supplementation daily dose.

I was surprised to see on how fresh my mouth felt. Search the benefits of Oregano Oil on the internet. Thankfully, oregano oil is a potent solution that effectively addresses infections of all kinds, including colds and other upper respiratory tract infections as well as stomach ailments.Jan 22, 2019. Oregano essential oil contains a high level of a potent compound called carvacrol. Authors of a 2014 study found that carvacrol is a helpful antimicrobial agent that can fight off many types of germs. This oil could, therefore, help to treat viral or bacterial causes of a cough. Mar 13, 2018. I have not had a cold in years, if I feel a sore throat symptom I take two drops under my tongue twice a day.. This is what I take to try and fight the flu and cold, of course you should always consult your doctor before taking supplements especially if you are on any form of medication or have health issues.

First of all I have think you will find that the vast majority of conventional doctors have absolutely no training whatsoever in diet and especially nutrition, the fundamental training of doctors is centred on the suppression of a patients symptom's thorough the use of chemical based medicine, none of which ever treats the 'cause' of the given disease ! For example in the case of cancer the 3 main treatments focus on (a), chemotherapy. (b), radiotherapy, and (c), surgery, so to recap, that's POISON, BURN, and CUT. whilst cheerfully and in most cases completely ignoring those individual and collective causes that created the cancer in the first place ! ( the removal of the tumor does not remove the cause). There is also substantial evidence to show that both chemotherapy and radiotherapy are highly carcinogenic which is why so many patients have reoccurring cancers after receiving these poisons. With specific reference to vitamin C and its ability to boost the immune system there are a number of factors that one has to consider, firstly, the type of vitamin C that you are using for example vitamin C itself is actually L-ascorbic acid others such as ascorbyl palmate are not true forms of vitamin C. There are now a form known as liposomal vitamin C which has a much improved absorption rate and therefore an improved beneficial effect on the immune system and the body as a whole. I would suspect that the form of vitamin C referred to in your article is the type found in most supermarkets and not from a source that is proven to have extraordinary beneficial effects. In point of fact both the Chinese have had tremendous results in treating and curing Covid 19 with intravenous Vitamin C, as have many others such as Alan Smith (a New Zealand farmer) given days to live with swine flu and leukemia, who made a complete and rapid recovery only when given this treatment. Similarly Anton Kuria also from new Zealand was given 4 weeks to live with leukemia and again made a total recovery after receiving intravenous vitamin C. These are only two examples of the many cases currently reported. With regards to the Vitamin D that you referred to, I would strongly recommend that you examine the research undertaken by Dr John Carnell who formed the Vitamin D Council and who's research clearly proved the benefit of taking vitamin D for treating both influenza, the common cold.and beond, but not with the dosage that you suggested but with at least 5,000iu which is also recommended for pregnant women. On a common sense note. When do most people fall prey to colds and viruses ? In the autumn and winter, when the sunlight and therefore the Vitamin D is only one third that it was during the spring and Sumner.🌻 Last but not least if Doctors were not so quick to push antacids, and proton pump inhibitor's which in turn suppress the stomach acid which then prevents the stomach from absorbing essential nutrients (and have now been linked to cancer) and will also prevent the patient from benefiting from vitamin C, vitamin D and all the other forms of nutrition . In the last 32 years I have yet to find one single patient with excess stomach acid in fact the majority had low stomach acid ! So would it not be sensible then for doctors to test the stomach acid levels of patients BEFORE prescribing medications that do great harm and and suppress the bodies ability to absorb any nutrients, lower the immune system, and make any virus even more prevalent. !

However this thing will pass if they can just bunker down for a few months or until this thing passes. One parent is in florida and I can't talk him back to Tennessee where people can look after him if he gets sick. Florida has such a HUGE elderly population I would much rather he come up here where I can help look after him if he gets sick. Its just aggrivating to me that my loved ones that are at most risk are not taking this serious enough. They just blindly believe whatever Trump sais. I have 0 faith in Trump or our government in general to prevent this from Pandemic. I have about 0.05% faith that our gov should or might filter and block traveling from the comunity spread areas and call all reserves to put entire teams on tracking and quarantine the areas that are under 10 people and can be stopped with enough effort. Instead everyone is like yeah this challenge is too difficult. Its much easier to just assume its inevitable and concentrate on mitigation. Hmmmmm ... 20-30 ng/ml D3 is pretty low, and in fact is deficiency. The laboratory testing range for normal D3 is usually 32-100 ng/ml and we have multiple research papers in the clinical literature showing that levels above 45 ng/ml are actually preventative to some cancers. The vitamin D council recomemnds D3 level of 40-80ng/ml, and Harvard has also recommended 70ng/ml for cancer prevention. It is extremely rare to see vitamin D toxicity and even kids can safely take 2000IU per day without any bad effects. This stuff is all over the literature.

It concerns me that although it is known that our own immune systems need all our energy to fight a pathogen (hence ‘sickness behaviour’.), there is no advice to patients with symptoms to go to bed and keep warm. Bed rest, for some reason, seems to have become a recommendation that has been deleted from the medical canon. Yet, post 1918 and pre-antibiotics, the rule was that if you had a high temperature (100F or above), you had to go to bed and stay there until your temperature had been normal for 24 hours. In the absence, then and now, of a medical cure, it was nursing care ...allowing the patient to be completely inactive...which was the best predictor of survival. The fact that viruses do better when people are cold might indicate that when the body’s energy resources are depleted by the need to keep warm, it reduces our ability to fight them successfully. In sum, we are all supposed to stay home and take care of ourselves while ill..so why isn’t WHO, and national health authorities providing advice about home nursing?

It is impossible to know how many colds I have avoided over the years doing this, taking vitamin C with zinc at the first suspected twinge of a sore throat. On those occasions when I did develop a cold, it was always due to waiting until after I had a pronounced sore throat to take the vitamin C and zinc. Now, after watching Dr. Hansen's video, I see the need for daily vitamin D as well.

I'm a 74 YO male who contracted COVID19 on Jan 4th. Symptoms progressed as follows: 1/4 runny nose, 1/5 rattling cough. 1/6 full involvement of my tonsils and lymph glands on the lower neck. On 1/7 the tonsils began to reduce and my lungs began to clear. By 1/9 all acute symptoms were reduced with exception of lung clearing cough for another 3 days. Unlike many of those my age, I never had my tonsils removed as a child. Not to confuse tonsillitis or tonsillectomy effects, the main purpose of the well functioning tonsils is to be an antibody factory. This incident was my first instance of tonsil swelling in more than 60 years and I believe their presence was a significant factor in my rapid recovery. I experienced no fever at any point during the illness. I believe that tonsillectomy during childhood, along with other comorbidity, is a significant factor in the death rate in patients over 65 when compared to patients under 65. Tonsillectomy became less popular with the advent of numerous antibiotics. I believe tonsillectomy history should be monitored when diagnosing COVID19.

I actually was researching into this late last summer while reviewing medical literature about the Spanish Flu and Polio. I have been asking those I know and I'm forums if they have had it if they also had tonsils and/or adenoids removed. One of the earliest issues with CoVID I read online (I think it was from BBC) was how many with a history of sleep apnea had caught CoVID. One of the modern procedures for serious obstructive sleep apnea is the removal of adenoids, with very young or older populations having had this done. Also with that is obesity and sleep apnea as a result. It seems to me that there could be correlation that isn't being talked about. I did shared it with some ICU nurses I met at grocery store.

Contrary to what you seem to believe, there are, in fact, "health experts" in the FDA. My nephew's wife is one of them. They're only human, which is to say, they're not perfect. But they tend to know their "craft" a lot better than superstitious slugs on the internet who seem to believe they know better. The reality is, you'd get utterly destroyed/massacred/annihilated if you were to be pitted against them in a competition of medical faculties. And you know it. So quit beating your chest like you know how to do their job better than them. Because you do not. And your age might afford you some more life experiences (anecdotes), but that doesn't mean you're some guru either. What I never understand is doctors prescribe Vitamin A-Z without ever scientifically proving it works in a supplement form, just handsomely serving "may" and "might"in the study. But when it comes to advising patients or not-yet-sick-ones, they would never say much about nutrition. Instead they make a billion dollar industry by serving folic acid and iron to pregnant women -often at doses liver does not need. Why dont they say (refusing to be drawn in that direction) is eat any fruit locally available? Go out , walk a couple of miles, get some sun, eat some fruits and have some decent wholemeal cereals and vegetables -this would apply to 99% diseases but rarely would they suggest or even drop such a subtle hint to an obese morbid person. Doctors tend to look for pathology first and nutrition as the last.

I will stick with Vit. C. Last year was the first year that I took Vitamin C on a regular daily basis and last year was the first year that I felt no symptoms of a cold at all. And there have been times in the past several years that if I felt a cold coming on, within the first 1-2 hours that I felt symptoms I would take about 1,500mg and the symptoms would go away after several hours and never come back. Now I will admit that if I waited too long (like half a day), the Vit C did not rid the symptoms and I would get a full blown cold. So Vit. C is prevention, not a cure. My doctor told me that it helps with flu prevention as well. But I rarely ever get the flu so I don't have personal testimony on whether it is true or false. At the advise of her doctor, my mom takes 1K mg of Vit C in the morning, another 1K mid-day, and another in the evening. And for the first time in her 69 years, she hasn't been sick during cold/flue season.

It has worked for me. The key is to take a lot of it right when you first start feeling symptoms, then take 1000 mgs/hour. The longer you wait, the less it'll work.

@@Qrayon Actually the key is to take enough on a regular basis so that you NEVER start feeling sick in the first place. But if you do, you're right, start taking 1,000 mg/hour or every other hour will knock virtually all viral infections out within 24 hours.

@@Qrayon An orange has about 50mg vitamin C, you can't get a megadose off it. But good to eat fruit for many reasons, they contain all kinds of chemicals that help the immune system, and you know you're getting pure active vitamin C from them.

@@Qrayon 1000 MG's/hour seems a bit extreme, especially as the body can only process 40mg per DAY, the body can't store it so any more than that passes through and is wasted.

I’m 66 with MS and live in the Phoenix Arizona area. I’ve for years taken vitamins B12, B complex, D5000mg., colloidal silver and liposomal vitamin C liquid, probiotics and prebiotic. So far I’m doing well!! I plan to keep this regiment up since it’s been years since I’ve had flu or colds. I also take centrum silver. I stick to the doses I’ve been told to take by my doctor. Seems to all work well. My last MRI showed no change or growth to the lesions so this is all good!

Ruth Morris this is awesome. While I’m not currently fighting off anything I started supplementing a lot when I went plant based a few years ago. People don’t understand how beneficial doing small daily things can really prevent so much in the long run. Best of luck on your journey.

Yes, I had Vit D deficiency, discovered 2 years ago, and my doc started me on 5000 IU daily. Kept going back for blood draws and continued to be deficient for almost a year before the levels got up to normal range. The doc increased my dosage for months and finally, after taking 10000 IU daily for awhile, it did eventually get into normal range. So yeah, those low doses are not going to help people who are deficient, or even have normal low side levels.

!5 minutes in bright sun wearing a small bathing suit is like taking 10,000 iu of Vitamin D. Lifeguards typically have 70 ng/ml. Current studies show 30 ng/ml is "normal": Much higher than the amounts needed to cure rickets. My Scripp's Clinic lab test results page shows 100 ng/ml as the high end of the normal range. I think your recommendation is ultra-conservative.

If they don't know/understand nutrition it's a fact we need to be revamping our whole health and getting the degree to be labeled as "doctor" you would believe if I say "I'm a Dr" that he's going have a complete understanding of each acpect of the human anatomy in every way I guess with the extreme amount of different fields of practice is the reason for the possibility of not being completely diverse in the nutritional aspect of health practice that makes sense anyway I'm thinking but good point there

That would be what Vivek is commenting on, which sentiment I also share. Edit: further in, he shows a specific brand of vitamin supplement. Again, he doesn't go on a pitch for the product. He carries on with the educational material whilst giving a couple camera shots of the product he prefers.
