Charlamagne is aggressive with artists who are non-aggressive - and non-aggressive with artists who are aggressive - and that from a man - is also a sign of weakness
@divinemason3410

I totally disagree. Not with your premise but with your conclusion. Charlemagne understands the need for balance in interviews. If he's non-aggressive with non-aggressive people it'll come across as boring. If he's aggressive with aggressive artists it'll come across as overly argumentative. What he does makes great radio and great interviews. It's not a sign of weakness.

He knew Charlemagne was tryna pick a fight and didnt want to give him that satisfaction Half the time his eyes , would just lean towards Angela or Envy anyway. If you study him throughout the whole interview and how he usually acts during interviews it was clear to see he is avoiding him and would've rather not give him the time of day just to keep his cool. Im thinking if he looked him in the eyes he wouldve lashed out which was maybe smarter for himself to do...but well call it a weakness.

+mari omari His actions on Sway's show speaks volumes....& look at the argument on the breakfast club...I never really like Charlamagne but he's right...Kanye is a walking contradiction...Watch the video again & listen 2 his words instead of his body language....He's bitching about money & at the same time he's talking self empowerment but he wants 2 be backed by Nike & other major corporations...Then he says he for the ppl but help me understand....Why the fuck would u sell a plain T-shirt for for $100 +? Does that look like he's for the ppl? Then he backtracks & says he's gonna drop the price & make his merchandise affordable...Like Charlamagne said...he's bitching about rich ppl problems....So it is a weakness....U can maintain a kool persona while looking at the man in the eyes...He knew he was got....Listen 2 him stumble on his words a couple of times...fuck kanye...fake ass Jesus..

Besides Blood on the leaves or New slaves he is not saying shit. " I keep it 300, like the romans." " I be speaking Swaghili" If Kendrick, Wale or Drake dropped an album with those lyrics you wouldn't be saying that.

the problems i had with the kanye interview was 1. he kept asking the same questions and not hearing kanye out 2. saying shit like money means nothing when we know thats a lie in this world you got money you got respect and power and a few other shit but i forgot i haven't heard the interview in a while
@dalvinortiz6619

Legend Burr 1. Kanye was dodging his questions and smiling like an idiot, be real. 2. Money doesn't mean shit. It means shit when you don't have it, but when you do, you realize there are barriers/ceilings that are there for you no matter how rich you are. Look at Kanye. Dude makes bank and he's just now realizing there are certain circles he can't break into.

Dalvin Ortiz don't get me wrong i think kanye is wrong on his argument, he's a walking contradiction i was simply pointing out the flaw in charlamagnes interview Kanye was not dodging the questions he was just explaining himself to much and not getting to the point, chalamagne was not asking questions you can answer with a yes or no and money don't mean shit? money means a lot EVEN if you got it, you need to maintain it,and how you know kanye is just realizing he doesn't fit in certain circles? maybe he always knew but now since he's in position of power where even if he gets black balled he can still maintain his lifestyle he feels he can speak out as much as he wants, try to look at it from his Point of view, even tho i disagree with him and thinks he's whack a lot of the shit he was saying i agree with
@dalvinortiz6619
@dalvinortiz6619 10 жыл бұрын
We're talking about two kinds of money. The money Charlamagne and Kanye talk about is the kind where you need an accountant to maintain. They aren't talking the kind normal folks deal with. Kanye isn't worried about money, he's worried about legacy. Kanye's starting to show the signs of someone who wants to be remembered for more than just rap albums and the trust funds he leaves his fam. He wants to embed himself in the American popculture lexicon like certain fashion designers are. He's not saying it tho, he just talks about being black balled and not the reasons why he thinks he should be put on the same cultural level as the dudes he always lists. I think you're right about why he's speaking up now tho.

Zania16ify I wouldn't even call Charlemagne simple minded; I agree with much of what he says most of the time; I just think he was a little off-base here. Just because I think he was missing Kanye's point doesn't mean I feel he's incapable of grasping it. Some people get it right away and some don't...but on a topic like this, I wouldn't chalk it up to an intelligence thing. Steve Jobs spoke of an iCloud-type technology all the way back in the 90s. I'm sure people understood what he was trying to say, even if they didn't exactly get "how" it would be done or more specifically..how HE was trying to do it.
@Zania16ify
@Zania16ify 10 жыл бұрын
that is very true with a lot of people, however i donnot think it applies with char AT ALL lol even if he was to try and converse with kanye about a topic so complex as this. but that is a good point you brought up, and on kanyes part, i believe he would do better off conversing with jay z or someone of that level who would understand his idea; especially in the industry they work in, considering the type of people they deal with on a daily basis. radio interviewers are typically not the best people to express a complex idea with, they have kanye on their show to talk about music & music only.
@zlistcelebrityYT

and im sure he is, but this particular subject may be a little much for his brain to fathom, im sure theres many other highly complex ideas/convos that he could join in on though. Honestly, with the way kanye struggles to transfer ideas in his head to full on sentences, itd make it almost impossible for anyone to comprehend him lol he needs to take it easy, & maybe take anger management classes

He named off all of Kanye's albums that Fest and Cons wrote. I can't call someone an emcee that doesn't write their own music. But from a production standpoint and getting the right people in the studio, Kanye is legendary
@dimitriusrivera8315
@dimitriusrivera8315 10 жыл бұрын
In that case you can't call jay z or pusha t a real emcee because Kanye writes his own lyrics but he will ask some one if they think it wack or not and if it is what they think he should write and he does the same to them he does that to rick ross basically anybody he has been in the studio with and that's a lot of what you call real emcee
@BrandenBlack1992
@BrandenBlack1992 10 жыл бұрын
I agree, you're less of a rapper if you don't write your own stuff. I don't care why these niggaz deals specify (cuz I know the labels basically own your stuff and can do whatever they want with it) they still need to be writing their own lyrics

Yeah but can you say some one actually wrote a whole rap for Kanye his music still sounds like he wrote it but it might be a line or two some one else had input on I mean I think every rapper that can take constrictive criticism doesn't have a problem with hearing people out and taking advice like come on he ain't diddly or dr.dre where other rappers write there whole songs for them
@BrandenBlack1992
@BrandenBlack1992 10 жыл бұрын
Dimitrius Rivera I feel you on that bruh, in his case I doubt it was ever a whole song. I just personally couldn't look myself in the mirror even if it was one line BUT that's me lol. As for constructive criticism well I honestly don't take Kanye West as the type who can accept any kind of criticism. I don't know him so of course I can't say it's a fact, it's just the vibe I get off of him.
@z.martinez
@z.martinez 10 жыл бұрын
obviously i wasnt in the studio, so im just speculating, but i assume those albums were more co-written with kanye than 100% written by someone other than Kanye. i agree with what youre saying tho. something is always more appealing when an emcee writes their own songs entirely.

There is no such thing as new or old Kanye. Ye's thought process has been the same since the beginning. All music is art, and his music is artistic as fuck. He even said he needs to change his style a lot because he wants to do different things. He could make another college dropout, but you gotta keep evolving. Each album is unique in its own way. This up coming one is going to KILL it.

I guess it is a subjective matter, but in my opinion Kanye West is a musical genius. I think the reason some people would disagree is because they don't respect the art of sampling in hip-hop, and maybe that's not the reason. However, you have to realize that playing instruments isn't the only way to put music together guys. Sampling is a very difficult thing to do, contrary to what some people believe, and when you combine Kanye's mastery of the task with his vision for making great records and dedication to his craft, the guy is undeniable. If you think about musical geniuses in the classical era like Bach and Beethoven, they where geniuses for the work they composed. They may have played instruments but their genius was based on the music they had a vision for, and brought great minds together to produce. Kanye is the modern day version of that. The man will bring in like 15 different musical engineers to make the sounds in his head become a reality if possible. I mean, some of his beats take months for him to perfect, and he sticks buy them until every sector of each beat is just that. I don't know of too many producers in hip-hop who do that on an album to album basis. My favorite two Kanye beats are "Live Fast, Die Young" featuring Rick Ross, and "Last Call" feat Jay-Z.

I'm a huge hip hop fan but I'm also a musician and have been for pretty much my whole life. I don't think "musical genius" should be placed on anybody in hip hop. A great lyricist is more of a poet than a musician. To me a musical genius is Mozart, Vivaldi etc. but this is all my opinion :)
@BrandenBlack1992
@BrandenBlack1992 10 жыл бұрын
I think your opinion is actually fact seeing as "musical" refers to actual music and not lyrics. Though Kanye West does produce I personally don't think he's a genius of any kind really. I think people use the term much too freely.
@z.martinez
@z.martinez 10 жыл бұрын
Branden Black saul barajas Rappers dont simply just write lyrics tho, performing those lyrics turns it into "music". Kanye also does produce, like you said, which makes him a little more "musical" than a lot of rappers. I'm personally a big fan of Kanye and i wouldnt call him a genius, but if you look at the defintion of the word, its debatable.
@BrandenBlack1992
@BrandenBlack1992 10 жыл бұрын
Zack Martinez True he is a lot more musical than most. I commend him on that too seeing as you can't rap forever. Anyway now that you mention it you're right about the genius debate. His older work (which is what I enjoy the most) could definitely put him up for serious consideration as a musical genius. I'm curious, what did you think of Yeezus?
@z.martinez
@z.martinez 10 жыл бұрын
Branden Black personally, it wasnt one of my favorites albums from him. My favorite Kanye album will probably always be College Dropout. Yeezus was a really creative project tho and it makes sense that he would release a project like that in 2013. One thing i admire about Kanye is his ability to change. Besides The College Dropout and Late Registration (the two projects that i think sound similar), every one of his albums has sounded radically different than the previous.
@BrandenBlack1992
@BrandenBlack1992 10 жыл бұрын
Zack Martinez I listened to most of College Dropout but it was so many years ago. I'll have to give it another listen but regardless I do remember that it was on point. I've never heard Late Registration, how is it? Lol yeah Yeezus to me wasn't that great but it had potential. I was on board with it for the first 5 songs but after that I wasn't into it really. He really can switch it up though. MBDTF was pretty radical when compared the work before it.

You can still be a fan of somebody and dislike what they're doing. These new age fans think their favorite celebrities are perfect and can do no wrong. I truly don't believe that at all. Ye is a very talented artist and as I said already, yeezus certainly had a different sound and was incredibly innovative but there were roughly 5 decent tracks on there. With that said, you might be misunderstanding Charlemagne. He said himself he is a fan of Kanye west, not kimye. People more so hate the Kanye west for what he is rather than the music he makes

thecoldest4life 'Guilt Trip' for me was the weakest on the album, I felt it didn't really go anywhere. 'Blood On The Leaves' was also pretty weak but had an interesting direction. Everything else was sick. Charlemagne hates Yeezus man, he openly said it to him on his radio show...what he is, is an incredibly motivated human being who's constantly striving for greatness whilst being lampooned left, right & centre. It'd make anyone act up, he thinks highly of himself and rightly so, the man is doing things no other musician is doing in the world right now.

thecoldest4life charlemagne was hating on kanye being with kim on the kanye kardashian comment a little. Kanye was being rude, and egotistical to before he was with kim(ie:taylor swift). His music is good, but his napoleon/God complex is absolutely cringeworthy. Also Kanye west was an easy target for charlemagne. kanye doesn't know who he is, and contradicts himself constantly. Charlemagne missed a few kanye proclamations that were idiotic though. Charlemagne wants to appear very intelligent and he isn't stupid but he isn't the smartest either. Plus I have a feeling he gets no play on the street lol. Kanye seems like his ego controls him, and i get a gay vibe from him. I know he's with kim but it's just weird, and i have a pretty good intituiton.

He didn't spew hate. He was trying to say real shit to see if Kanye realizes his narcissism and egotistical ways. In my opinion he called him out in a pretty professional way and still gave him compliments. He cares and what's to hear the realness and opinions. He did nothing wrong. He was speaking from the perspective of a fan. And as Kanye talks the truth comes out more and more of how delusional he is

Kanye don't got respect for the radio game is because all these radio guys leach off people like Kanye for their publicity,they don't create anything. Think about it Charlamagnes best career moment wasn't winning any game, composing a great song,writing a good book,coming up with new tech,turning someones life around,discovering something etc. his best moment was talking a bit of smack to Kanye. "proximity to power gives some people the illusion that they have it" Charlamagne aint shit and at the end of the day doesn't actually do anything.
