@@dai-belizariusz3087 National socialism and socialism are totally different. Although they might share certain policies such as protectionism, it's important to derive the intention behind the implementation of such policies. For example, if a socialist was to advocate for protectionism in a developing nation it would be because they feel as though those policies would negate the threat of Western nations exploiting said developing nation. If a national socialist (fascist) was to advocate for protectionism in one's own country however it would be due to some greater dogmatic ideals about national identity and race relations. In regards to Fascist economics, and Nazism in particular, it was all about the state. Nazis pursued whatever economic policy they thought would be best for the German state. That means they might socialize one industry, heavily regulated another, and deregulate another. There was no underpinning ideology except that which benefited the state. The best example of a Fascist economic model today is actually "communist" China.

It's not nearly as extreme a situation as you're talking about, and they've been somewhat restrained by the rest of the country, but think about what they've attempted to do to school curriculum with their racist (civil war revisionism, selective or omitted teaching about civil rights and native americans) and religious (abstinence only sex-ed, teaching intelligent design in biology classes) beliefs. They've somewhat succeeded in doing this _without_ being a totalitarian government, and while dealing with a higher government that doesn't fully back the ideas. A big issue is when some people think "Socialism," they only think of "Marxism." And the Nazis completely 100% hated Marxism, believing it to be a Jewish conspiracy. So they suddenly think Nazis are completely different. In reality, different governments can have similar ideas, while also holding different interpretations & perspectives that lead to them hating each other. The Sino-Soviet Split is a great cold war example of this.

The only reason Hitler named his ideology National Socialism was because he wanted to paint Nazism in a favorable way to the working class. He wanted to paint Nazism as this worker supporting and worker friendly ideology as socialism seemed to have been popular amongst the working classes. However it wasn't similar at all to any socialist ideology at the time. It was completely different from any other ideology that was called socialist at the time. The word socialism for Hitler was simply marketing. If Hitler was instead in the United States for example since capitalism is more popular amongst the working class than socialism he'd might have instead used the word capitalism to appeal to the people there. It was simply marketing.

@@tythorn13 Tik is full of shit on that topic, and his position has no actual weight. He's a military historian. All he's doing is playing with the definition of words so he can paint all opposing ideologies as part of one monolithic socialist entity that his own, iirc extremely libertarian capitalistic liberal democratic views stand against. Basically, Tik is saying that "socialism" just means being populist and collectivist, with a trend towards authoritarianism. I find this to be a deliberately broad definition that only exists to group disparate ideological trends together. What is essential to socialism, in my belief, is the acceptance of class struggle as a guiding force of human history and conflict and the belief that the poor and lower class people have shared interests which should see them unite against their elite masters and establish true freedom. Socialism MUST BE egalitarian in nature, and while nationalistic socialism is not a contradiction it must still be framed in the context of class struggle. Fascism explicitly rejects all of this. What it champions is the national or racial struggle, the idea that regardless of social status, all members of one nation are inherently more alike than they are to members of outgroups, and that all of history is defined by the struggle of different nations or races against each other. All interactions between nations are zero-sum, with no meaningful cooperation being possible except in warfare against others, with war being the natural state of mankind. This is why you'd see capitalists and industrialists side with fascist movements against socialists: Fascism rejects class warfare in favor of national struggle, and supports all classes working together as one united front against enemies both foreign and domestic. Fascism rejects egalitarianism in favor of immutable natural hierarchies, which is why while socialism does not have to be authoritarian, fascism MUST be.

Similar to eugenics because it decides with what people you can breed and miscegenation because this is decided based on blood relations. In the case if miscegenation it's because the people are considered too far apart in terms of kinship, too different. While in the case of incest it again has to do with how close people are but instead of being about how far away they are it's about them being considered too close.

The Swedish "Stormaktstiden", or "the era of great power" is a very interesting time in Swedish history, and i'd love to hear your thoughts about it. Although, the great northern war series is more about the war that ended "stormaktstiden" and began "frihetstiden", meaning "the era/age of freedom", so maybe there's a better video/series for you to watch that is about the Swedish Empire as a whole, rather than just the end of it. Its original meaning was a slang term for an uneducated, uncultured country bumpkin. In modern American English, terms with the same meaning would be "redneck", "rube" or "hick". This term was popularized outside of Germany by Germans who were hostile to the party and had to flee to other countries.

Sub-Saharan Africa, India and the Caribbean would not have faced Nazi invasion simply because they were either too close to America (Caribbean) or held no strategic value (Africa, India).

In the GDR the kids were raised in a specific ideology, but it didn't get that far, like he describes it in his what-if-reich. Not erveryone agrees with everthing and hundreds of years of culture can't be erased. There was allready a generation raised in the third reich. And not everyone was automatically a Nazi.

5:39 I see what they are talking about, if you compare to the Soviet Union, they skewed science to their ideology in a number of ways, most notably their adherence to Lysenkoism (as opposed to Darwinian evolution) which set the USSR back tremendously in just about all of biological sciences.

12:00 is mostly true besides yugoslavia, yes they did get help and wouldent have been able to be free if germany won. But yugoslavia did mostly free itself

Eh. They got free because Germany had to leave to deal with their collapsing war effort Tito didn't do that, the Allies did. If the full force of Germany is free to deal with the partisans indiscriminately, it goes a lot differently. What the partisans did was survive while resisting, which is a lot more than nothing but I don't think we can say they "freed themselves."
