Thanks for the video! We are thinking of going up harvard from bear lake, and then down the north side/pine creek trail, but am wondering how sketchy the descent off of Harvard will be. Did you have any sense of the descent down the north side of Harvard when you were doing the traverse? At minute 10:30 you seem to be at a fork in the trail. You went to the left, but I wonder if the right is to the pine creek trail?

Great to see your dog Pacer. Could you talk more about when you bring your dog and when not. Do you have dog shoes or other equipment for Pacer? How did you go camping with Pacer? Thanks for you videos.

I'm not the owner of Pacer (Sandi's sister is). But Pacer has hiked the entire Colorado trail before and is super experienced (where she had her own pack and footies...or feet protectors). It depends on the breed and dog, but generally they need to be able to cool off and to have access to water fairly often (At least compared to us humans!). She has her own special food and we closely watch her feet. Sometimes we give her our own water in a bowl that we bring with us on the trail/hike..as well as snacks/food for her. The "footies" help protect her from sharp rocks (but she usually doesn't need them and doesn't hike too far). A lot of Colorado 14ers/mountain trails would not be suitable for dogs (there are cliffs or rock ledges that involve climbing...plus rock fall potential). Other dangers for dogs (And to be aware with with setting out food or having them around) would include bear/moose encounters or even mountain lions or rattle snakes....at least in Colorado. So it depends on the trail type and camping location as well.

What’s the purpose of using the Coros “Trail Run” option vs just the regular “Run” setting? I’ve only ever used the latter for my trail runs too, but I’ll gladly switch if it makes a difference!

How long did it take to complete this hike? I’m visiting Cripple Creek in 3 weeks and want to hike Harvard while I’m there.

Any benefit to doing Columbia to Harvard versus the other way around?

Harvard to Columbia is the standard route. I did a lot of research and was still stunned how difficult it was.

I’ve always wondered when Sage does those shots of him running past or jumping fiver the camera does he have to run to the spot and set it up and press play, run back about 100 metres then turn around again, get the shot, and run back to pick up his camera?

How do you shower while camping and doing these runs?
@Vo2maxProductions
@Vo2maxProductions 4 жыл бұрын
we generally don't very often (maybe a wash in the creek on a hot day!). I have a "solar" shower which is a bag you fill with water and let sit in the sun. After about 2-3 days of running/camping I'm pretty smelly. I can hang it on a tree and it drains out of the nozzle. Use biodegradable soap/shampoo.
