I agree so much. I sobbed like a baby during the bridge because it just fucking sucker punched me. I think im going to get "no amount of self-sought fury can bring back the glory of innocence" because god DAMN. A few things you mentioned. 1) The lion noise is actually a whale underwater. This is a reference to previous album this place will become your tomb's water theme and the birds referencing air (major theme in the first album). Essentially First bit with birds represents the meeting of Sleep (Sundowning Album) the second bit after the whale noise represents TPWBYT album and his falling into obsession/depression (no one told me not to breathe) and the rest of the song is him digging out of it 2)You mentioned what does the mainframe represent, I believe we are meant to think it is his mind and he is trying to get away from Sleep but is almost having withdraw symptoms. Also calls back to Aqua Regia "these days I'm a circuit board, integrated hardware you cannot afford"

what A DAY TO WORSHIP. My favorite of all time thing about this song in particular, is the pure build up throughout the whole song just getting progressively louder and harder, starting a somber “I will travel far beyond the path of reason, take me back to Eden”, but ending in this climactic fit of rage because he isn’t being given the option to go back and switching it to “I HAVE traveled far beyond the path of reason, take me back to Eden.” It’s just so beautiful.
@stormshadowoffireАй бұрын
I interpret "no one told me not to breath" as him drowning because he breathed in water while diving in perfect oceans

Sank back to reality and away from Eden. Then it's him living in this reality, "I spit blood when I wake up." The whole song is him aching to get back to whatever/whoever Eden is for him.
@jimmux_v0Ай бұрын
I also see this part as a description of evolution. The song has a few references to returning to a primitive state. Here, it's about animal life leaving the oceans, beginning to breath the atmosphere and having to support our own weight on land. Suggesting that we should have stayed in the water.
@ColieBear18Ай бұрын

Yesss, finally - my favourite from the album. It's not a song, it's a journey ❤
@BeeMcDeeАй бұрын
This song - this band - saved my life. To me, it’s about losing illusions, being hit hard by reality (in his case, not having connection to someone) and reaching a point where you break. The ‘dream in phosphorescence’ verse, I take to mean that he’s in a blissful, floaty, glowing dream state, in paradise, but he was unaware of the risk, and now he’s waking up with a shock. He’s deeply emotionally locked in with someone he knows is bad for him, and will ruin/has ruined him, but he just wants to go back to when it was blissful. He then looks back with sorrow at what could have been, and becomes angry that it can’t be that again. The metaphors are just … *chef’s kiss* The style (?) changes keep you moving through the emotions of grief. And that final hit. That is catharsis personified in music. One thing I didn’t hear you mention is the muffled ‘splash’ sound when he sings ‘we *dive* through crystal waters’. It’s like he’s underwater and hearing someone dive in. I heard that and suddenly the imagery of the song got so much stronger. Almost two years since I discovered this band, and I can’t hear this song without crying. In happiness or grief? I actually don’t know.
@tommyjohnson43Ай бұрын
IMO , Take Me Back to Eden is him wanting to go back to the beginning of a relationship when things were like Eden , perfect.
@carolinelynch1720Ай бұрын
I interpret the opening lyrics as talking about the fall from Eden as allegory for a loss. When the weightlessness recedes, that is a reference to drowning, feeling helpless and overwhelmed. The whole song is about wanting to get back something that is gone, to move back to a perfect time. Life after Eden is compared to that perfection and found to be wrong, debased and shallow. The song ends with rage at the loss before Euclid moves into acceptance and healing.

My favourite note with this song. The first climax is a warning. "I WILL travel far beyond the path of reason" and it leads into this beautiful high note unlike anything else in the entire album only to go silent leaving you longing for that beautiful sound that never returns. Moving into the end of the album that line changes to "I HAVE travelled far beyond the path of reason" and its so filled with anger and desperation pleading for that beauty that will never return. Leading perfectly into the final track which I won't spoil anything about (but it is my favourite song of all time)

This is what got me too. The line in the bridge of TMBTE "no amount of self sought fury can bring back the glory of innocence" and the raw pain of that reality. Just to follow it up with "the night belongs to you" snd "i must be someone new" and how fucking BEAUTIFUL is that. I cant get over how beautifully and devastatingly he structured these two songs to feed into each other. Let alone that Euclid then loops back to The Night Does Not Belong to God. Just brilliant storytelling

Euclid provides the greatest sense of closure I've ever felt from a band. What I love as well about the ending of this song is that throughout the song he is ASKING to be taken back to Eden. YOU know my desire. He is pleading with someone else to give him what he wants. By the end he's tired of asking to get nothing back in return but to be pulled further AWAY from Eden. It's not just a scream of desperation, it's also rage and just outright defiance, like, I've told you what I want and you refuse to give it to me so I am going to get it my damn self.

"When we were made, it was no accident. We were tangled up like branches in a flood." When these lyrics crawled up from the wash of dissonance in the beginning of Chokehold, it was a proposition. An idea, a hypothesis, something to be tested, turned over in the mind. Why are we here? Why do we think and feel the way we do? Was it an accident? At the end of Take Me Back To Eden, these lines are repeated once again, after the journey of investigation the other songs took us through. Here, beyond the path of reason, there is a realization that these words ARE true, despite the logic and experience that contradict them. The weight of the entire song crashes down, along with the grief that comes with the knowledge that, despite the objectively pointless struggle of life and the hurt that was acknowledged along the way, it was no accident. This feeling builds into a desperate scream, pleading to be brought back to the time before the flood. I still find tears in my eyes at the end of this song, even now. Worship.
@sergeantseven4240Ай бұрын
I took the beginning lyrics as he is infatuated with someone so much that he dive head first into intense emotions and everything looks perfect through those rose colored glasses until he tries to relax and ends up drowning and falling deeper into the "ocean". The whole song is essentially about the ignorance bliss of being in deep infatuation with someone and dealing with the abrupt end of that relationship, then trying to come to terms with it being over. You really have to listen to this song multiple times to pick up on all the connections, metaphors and word play, and the emotional connections to the music. The whole album is essentially a metaphor for a toxic relationship and the break up from it, which is also possibly a metaphor for the relationship he has with life in general and the goddess Sleep (if you follow the lore and the last 2 albums)... Also, "It was no Accident" is a call back to Chokehold...
