Phil C. may not have a broad, big voice but with his exquisite, pinpoint resonance he doesnt need it. His tone, pitch and diction are impeccable as he hits all his front resonators in his facial mask. His tone is somewhat metallic sounding which suits the style of music he sings as well. Incredible voice.
@KG-th3cr5 жыл бұрын
Very well said. There's nobody in all my life that I've heard more than Phil Collins. I wouldn't say I'm an "expert" or anything silly like that but it's nearly like you read my mind. He has a very specific tone and level to his voice and he hits it in a millisecond and never has to change anything. It's almost like an "auto-pilot." You are right on the money with everything you said and I absolutely adore Phil's vocals.

Name a drummers/singers that can do what Phil Collins did: Levon Helm (The Band), Karen Carpenter (Carpenters), Don Henley (Eagles), Ringo Starr (Beatles), and many others! Phil can do anything behind those drums and sing at the same time!
@artdogg504 жыл бұрын
Actually there are a surprising lot of drummers who eventually became lead singers. Especially in soul music. I don't necessarily think it's that unique. I think the unique part is that once drummers get reluctantly pushed to the front stage as the lead singer, they rarely get the chance to really play drums anymore. And Phil doesn't only they play drums either. He has a had a regular drummer as a solo act and with Genesis for decades. He always kept a drum set on stage for himself so he could play certain songs or to battle with the other drummer. I always appreciated that about him.
