As beautiful as the song is when you see the context of it in the show Arcane it is soooooo much more emotional. I can not recommend this show enough. Hey Hannah, I think it's relatively easy to explain why this song hits so much. The lyrics basically sum up the emotional drama of Powder/Jinx in but a few minutes. All the main aspects are in there, tons of respect go to the writer of those lyrics for this achievement. This song takes Jinx' unbearable emotional pain, and puts it right in front of the audience, so that there's no way to look around it. Or to put it differently, this song puts not only one but rather several fingers deep inside the open wound, and joyfully twists it around right until the moment we all get tears in our eyes. "Why don't you love who I am" - the sadness, the desperation but also the anger that lies within that question. It all fits into those few words. Amazing. And I relate so much to that feeling of refusal, I guess we all know it and respond to it. While it may seem odd to have hired an almost 70 year old man to perform a song from a perspective of a young girl, I guess he showed everyone he is still so way up there in terms of performance and emotion and also technique. He sings "I am your ghost", and indeed it sounds like a lifeless, doomed ghost right there. Okay he is my favorite musician by far anyway, but maybe you can agree with me about my attempt to explain why this one destroys many listeners so much.

Beth, I can't recommend Arcane enough. Yes, the characters and location are from a video game (League of Legends to be specific), but zero knowledge of the game is needed for watching the show. It's honestly one of the most incredible pieces of episodic entertainment created. All the music in it (this song included) was created specifically for the show, and really add to the show. I'd love to see your reaction to the show, but if you're not comfortable with that style of video, you should still watch it just for yourself :)

Arcane is a series that, speaking as someone who loves the League of Legends lore and has spent an embarrassing amount of time and money on the game, has absolutely NO business being as outright immaculate as it is. It could have been half as good and people still would have been excited to have a decent enough look into the world of Runeterra, and instead we got arguably the best season of animated media ever. Fucking spectacular.

Arcane is not a Netflix show. It's a Riot Games (League of Legends creators) and Fortiche (french animation studio) production. Netflix is only the platform they choose to air it and has nothing to do with it. That's what makes Arcane so special. It wasn't a random producer that had the idea to make profit of the most played games around the world. They didnt hire someone who didnt know anything about the game to make it. It was an idea of one of the employees and he pushed and pushed and pushed for it to be done right. It took 6 years to make it! The amount of passion, love and care they put on this shows through every frame, every dialogue, every note. Everything was made specifically for the show. From the visual parts like developing a new animation style, to the score and soundtrack. They wrote every song and looked for the right interpreter to make it as good as they are. In the minidocumentary they even joke about having Sting for this song, like who wouldn't want such a star like him to sing a song for their movie/show? But he really liked the song! And they went for it. The result? One of the most beautifully gut wrenching scenes I've ever seen! If you ask anyone who had seen Arcane and know the passion it was made from, all can tell you two things: I cant wait for season 2 And I want them to take as much time as they can to make season 2 at least as good as season 1 is. This dichotomy is something that live with us now. We need it NOW, YESTERDAY if possible. BUT we dont want them to rush it, even if it means 6 more years to have season 2.

Hi Beth - just accidentally found your video because I was discussing the show "Arcane" with some people and wanted to point out how emotionally relevant and on point that last song is. Then I saw your thumbnail to this video and tbh I got kinda mad, because to me your facial impression first looked like you found the song awful. I have seen people comment under this game award video that Sting's performance had been terrible, that he couldn't hold the long or high notes properly. And that he had quite simply become too old to perform. I think all of this is rubbish and I am glad I clicked and watched your video and found that you actually loved what he did. He was a nearly 70 year old man taking on the perspective of a young girl feeling desperate for getting refusal instead of love. And oh man how awesome did he put all of the sadness, the deperation but also the anger into his voice! "Why don't you love who I am?". It's literally all in that one line. Actually the entire show is in that one line. That's what the story is about, or at least the relationship of those two sisters.
