Wow that is what I've always said about Whitney....she always made singing look easy and effortless

What so fantastic to know is that Whitney actually recorded this song in ONE take. Like who does that?? She was so phenomenal.
@singingmanmd2 жыл бұрын
That's phenomenal but Ms. Dionne Warwick and several other icons have done it many times.
@jobuck8792 жыл бұрын
@@singingmanmd Show me where it’s been documented. Narda explicitly said it about Whitney on this song. LA Reid and Baby Face said it about Whitney on I’m Your Baby Tonight. I’ve never seen anywhere where Dionne has been proven to do so.

2:35 I love how you point out that Whitney didn't really have a big voice but a technique that allows her voice to be massive
@The_Truth-3 жыл бұрын
Didn’t have a big voice? she did have a big voice the woman could move the mic to her hip and still be heard very well.
@oneilgerald3 жыл бұрын
That’s actually a result of good technique! When talking about voices, we separate technique from build to be able to analyze deeper. There are a lot of singers who have broader sounds because of build (the physical attributes of their voice) and also those that have it because of good technique (what they do with those attributes). Whitney does the latter.
@jobuck8793 жыл бұрын
@@oneilgerald I would love for you to do a vocal talk through Whitney singing I Am Changing (San Francisco 1986). Please do so. There’s no video just audio. Also a vocal walk through of her singing The Greatest Love Of All (Wembley) 1988. Since you say you haven’t done enough of her, lol. There’s so many more-

Listening to your breakdown and that 15:07 mark where you speak on the adlibs Whitney was doing, the melody (?) she’s using to do them sounds very similar to Act Like You Know - Lashun Pace !!

I am curious to know what your favorite Whitney Houston performance is. I think mines would be the 1993 billboard awards performance of “I Have Nothing”, or the Rock in Rio Performance of “All the Man That I need” proceeded by the former.
