Didn’t have a big voice? she did have a big voice the woman could move the mic to her hip and still be heard very well.

That’s actually a result of good technique! When talking about voices, we separate technique from build to be able to analyze deeper. There are a lot of singers who have broader sounds because of build (the physical attributes of their voice) and also those that have it because of good technique (what they do with those attributes). Whitney does the latter.
