What upsets me, is that so many Queen fans give Adam such a bad time. They all say he's trying to be Freddie, when he has said himself he is not, and that nobody can sing like Freddie. And nobody can sing like Adam. Roger Taylor said there's no one in the world today that can sing like Adam. I believe Brian May said his voice is 1 in a million and that he stands next to him on stage and he hits notes that Freddie could never do. Adam's voice is absolutely fantastic.

Brian actually said he has a voice in a billion. He also said he had the most extraordinary voice he's ever heard. I know what you mean about the Queen fans, though, it's really the Freddie and Marc Martel fans who are jealous because Adam is so successful. If you go on Queen's Facebook, the comments are overwhelmingly positive and just a handful of trolls who keep bashing Adam and anyone who makes a positive comment about Adam. They keep saying he can't sing but you have legitimate vocal coaches like this who are blown away by his voice. Here is another good one. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4fYl6qMga10qrs Who are these trolls who think they know better than a vocal coach who make their living teaching others how to sing?

Adam is the best male vocalist alive today. It is a shame that people don’t recognize that in the US. He is also a very talented songwriter, he enjoys collaborating with other songwriters. He is great at twisting song and melodies around to suit him and make them fresh and new. I first heard him sing this arrangement 10 years ago during his auditioning process for American Idol. He was in Italy for a private performance a couple years ago and even sang an aria from an opera in Italian that he learned as a teenager when he was still taking voice lessons.

@@escape0007 Sorry, but Mercury did not have a classically trained voice. Adam Lambert doesn't sound like Freddie. @@escape0007 oh, yeah, that's a different story. You're right. I feel like all the critics are now praising Freddie into the stars, but while he was alive, Queen always had to struggle against bad reviews and critics spouting their nonsense, unbelievable! Also, artists like David Bowie, etc. who should have been honoured at the Grammys but never were, I just have no words when I see some pretty mediocre artists get all the awards... In Adam's case, I think that critics mostly praise him, and he always gets good reviews for albums or performances, it's just that the general mainstream audience is kind of sleeping on how incredible he is. But hopefully that is changing, and hopefully it won't take until after he dies for people to start appreciating his talent for what it is

yes it's jealousy. Being a fan of Adam was quite hard when I was 13 and I understood already that he has one of the best voices in the world yet everyone around me bullied me for being his fan and told me straight to my face "Adam sucks he can't sing for shit". Even later when I was 18 there was this one guy in our friend group who always disliked Adam for no reason at all, told me once that "he just has such a generic male voice, it's nothing special" Those idiots know nothing about music and especially about voice yet had the audacity to say anything they wanted but whenever I said their indie girl singers have very generic voices I was being "narcissistic and fanatic" Luckily those people are not part of my life anymore and they still don't understand shit for music. Adam is up there with Whitney Houston and Freddie Mercury. A voice that will be remembered for decades to come.

You’re so right! And I love how damned theatrical he is. His face when he pulled that earpiece out. That little look he gives the crowd for a second, like, ya’ll ready for this? The fact that he did it on “there’s no turning back,” because he knew by that point the whole room was under his spell. That he was taking them on a journey. He’s aware of exactly how amazing he is. And, somehow, he also manages to never miss! There’s a fine line between confidence and over-confidence, but I’ve never seen him cross it. Never seen him falter. It’s kinda miraculous. He doesn’t just sing. He sells the song, AND manages to make you forget that’s what he’s doing. So you’re just lost in the moment. Knowing he knows what he’s doing, and just grateful he’s doing it. I’ve never seen someone so professional, so seasoned and perfect, and yet so able to connect as well. And he’s also absolutely fearless. He gets the emotion, and still manages to be flawless somehow. All that competence and confidence, backed up by just massive talent and a real, genuine joy in performing. He’s a gift from the Angel of music, for sure!

@@odile8701 2:39 I really wish Adam would see your comment. You truly captured the essence of his talent and I got emotional thinking about how touched he would be by your insight. You know Cher tweeted that night that she couldn’t quite find the words to express how moved she was by his performance, and then 3 weeks later, she tweeted while on a flight saying that she’s still in awe of him and what he did with the song was beyond comprehension. What a compliment from an icon and legend. Think about how many dance remixes of this she’s heard. Better yet think about how many times she’s performed this song and the use of auto tune in her version just as a stylistic effect, because it was new at the time. He flipped the script on the emotions of the song in a heart-felt ballad of realizing one’s self worth. Beyond performing, he takes you on a journey and has such control that when he unleashes and lets you have it - you’re shook and gobsmacked. I love that Cher gave him permission to record his arrangement of Believe. Anyway, thanks again for a great analysis on Adam Lambert!

Hi, John--I've never heard anyone discuss Adam's vocal folds before :) It is my opinion that he has an extra lung as well! Seriously, thank you for your excellent analysis of Adam's out-of-this-world voice--I will be seeing him perform live on Friday and I don't know if I'll survive when he sings Believe! I hope you get to see him perform live someday.

Yes, John, I agree with you 100%, he is one of the best performers, if not the best, around today. Thank you for your analysis. I could tell from the very first time I saw Adam sing that he had something very special.

Michele Hilty I heard, too, how special & gifted he is, not just with his vocals, but as a performer. He should have won that season of Idol. I was stunned when he didn't.

It's sad that a singer like this- will be one of the most under-appreciated /respected artists around. When really outside the states- he's considered highly respected for a male pop/rock vocalist. That includes China. etc

MasiaDe A lot of people that have seen the most recent Queen concert say he’s awesome. They do say he’s not the showman that Freddie mercury is and he doesn’t have the same voice, but he has had medical lessons when he was a teenager. I love his solo work, too!

You know, as I watch the voice teachers critique Adam Lambert and Kelly Clarkson, it occurs to me, that they are the two best singers in the world. Carrie Underwood may have made the most money but she is not a better singer than the two of them. Clarkson and Lambert have the ability, with their voices, to break your heart. Full body goosebumps are an everyday experience, listening to them. We are so lucky to have them in our lives. Also, Thank you to the voice teachers for pointing out how they are able to make their voices perform in such a beautiful way. Thank God for American Idol. Otherwise, we would never have met Kelly and Adam. Can’t wait to meet the next great talent.
