This performance was 4 years ago, you should see and hear him now. Wow!! Dimash is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan, he started singing lessons and 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has just (18th June 2020) completed his Masters specialising in Composition and Piano, and receiving his Masters degree with Honours, having achieved the maximum score of 100% and is now doing his PhD in Musicology. His range is over 6 octaves (it's now) but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is very good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it. In this performance he was 22 and in a competition for famous professional singers in China he was invited as a wildcard and was the only non Chinese and also the youngest competitor. After this one song he was catapulted to stardom and is now a huge pop star in China. He is now also famous in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy and many of those works are very operatic.He is also, thanks to KZbin very famous throughout the world. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register has hit a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato. He was on a solo world tour until covid-19 and in his concerts he sings for around 3 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. He is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He is 26 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum (in 37 seconds) album in China though, and is about to releasehis 2nd album shortly. It has been recognised that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has billions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dear to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018 where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. His recent sellout world tour has been postponed due to the covid-19 epidemic but will restart when its safe to do so. He has concerts lined up in Dusseldorf, Prague and Minsk there will be others in other countries including South America. Pme pf the things people love about him is his humility. It is NOT feigned. He truly is incredibly sweet-natured. He is totally the real thing. He was born with perfect pitch, even in infancy he loved to sing in his baby way. By the age of two he was doing small performances for his parents' friends and relatives. He has a very wide variety of styles, and loves to learn new ones.By the way, in his "Unforgettable Day, Gakku," he goes way off the keyboard to D8. A real treat to hear.s By the way, your discussion of his singing has revealed that you are truly a musician. I'll look for your future Dimash videos. Admittedly, I had almost become jaded to reactors listening to Dimash sing SOS the first time. Almost everyone has the shocked face around one minute and shake their heads with incredulity at his range, tone, variety in style, etc. I can listen to the song myself and just admire the music. However, I think you got the reaction right: it wasn’t that you didn’t react the same ways as others (I mean, you can’t help looking shocked if you are), but that you leaned in to analyze, to learn - possibly to try later? Anyhow, what you demonstrated was the desire to understand and learn - almost like using Dimash’s performance as a master class, where you observe and take away as much knowledge as a master can provide. Two things different about this approach: the immediate acknowledgement that Dimash is a master and the eagerness to absorb some of his knowledge and technique. Appreciated the reaction.

Yes Dimash gives us all goosebumps!!! These people did not know him. It was “The Singer 2017” contest, a Chinese competition of seasoned singers; Dimash was invited from Kazakhstan as a wild card; he was first to go on the first day, with this song; he became famous overnight in China and soon thereafter through the world through KZbin and social media. Dimash covered the “Opera 2” from Vitas to which you referred to, as his next song in this competition; it is so good that the legend has it that he was never allowed to sing it again (by Vitas). Dimash is a Baritone, and the combination of God-given talent ( born with elongated vocal folds - per Dimash), immense training (since he was 5), and his own work ethic. Welcome to the World of Dimash. In case no one has yet mentioned it...Dimash's range is from A1 to D8 (sustained). He sings in 12 different languages, and plays 7 different instruments. He is classically trained, of course, and has studied since he was 5-years-old. He is also very humble, and a terrific human being. Dimash is 6'3", 26-years-old, and became known world-wide by his appearances on the "Singer 2017" competition for professional acts, in China. He was invited to the show by one of its producers. Dimash is the son of professional singers and, thus, was learning to sing while in his mother's womb. Indeed, a reviewer from India made a very insightful comment that he sounds like music is his first language, and I think that could very well be true. I love everything Dimash does. One song that really got me LOL that's not fair because every song Dimash does gets me 😊 is I'll die for the wind in the mountains at his Armenian Concert this year 2023 It is so hauntingly beautiful, he sounds like he is speaking the voices of father ancestors and I think he was born for sounds like this. Thank you for your reaction and appreciation of Dimash talents and vocal abilities. I have been a Dimash fan for almost 4 years. I honestly and personally believe, Dimash is a Music Virtuoso of our time. Dimash is a respectful and kind young man; who always credits his Family and his Team for his achievements and successes. He is from Kazakhstan and will be 27 (in May 2021). Dimash has been formally training and performing for over 22 years. At the age of 5 years old it was determined he had perfect pitch. Dimash is known for his exceptionally wide (bass to soprano to whistle register) vocal range and breath control. It is recorded that he has a range higher than Six (6) Octaves and continues to improve his ranges and techniques. Dimash is a phenomenal Vocal Storyteller and Performer. Dimash calls his style an "Innovation" [Neo-Classicism] in the Classical Crossover Genre.. Dimash combines many Styles such as Classical (Opera), Contemporary (Modern, Pop, R&B, Jazz, Rap), Estrada and traditional Kazakh folk music. Because of his "crossover" style/abilities there are many Vocal Coach/Singer debates as to whether Dimash is a Baritone, Tenor, Countertenor, Alto or Soprano. Indeed he's a virtuoso.... Wait till you hear the next one... here in 2017 he was 22 yo. In a Chinas Tv contest of well known and professional singers "I'm the singer"... All that audience are 500 jury's, sceduled from all kind of status and knowledge about art and music. Dimash was invited has a "wild card" unknown, the youngest, from Kazakhistan, they thought he would last only for 2 or 3 weeks... he stayed till the 13 episodes and stayed working in China for more 3 years, between several concerts in Russia, Ukraine, Beloruss, Kazakhistan, Slovenia,Turkey, France, England, Germany, New York, etc... He's a effortless perfectionist in all what he does. Perfect pitch, wonderful stage performer and every song, a total surprise. Doesn't imitate: makes the covers has "he's own" song. He's technique is a total guide of "how to sing" for singers, teachers, coaches and for those who start to learn... This Tv Show, was released on air in early January 2018, nest day he's personal Chinas page (equal as Instagram) had 60 Million viewers for SOS, and since then he couldn't ever go out alone with no security... He was only 22 on this song, he wasn't supposed to last the first two weeks, but he went on to be second, which I believe he was cheated out off. Dimash will have a treat for you in every performance. If he doesn’t go high, he goes low. If he doesn’t belt, he will take you on a deep emotional journey. A little tip... if he takes his ear piece out... something is about to happen 😊 I would recommend Sinful passion, Confessa+Diva Dance (it’s not the best Diva Dance performance some would argue, but it’s still an excellent performance, and I just love the combination) If you are not familiar with the Diva Dance, it’s a sound track from a movie, and it’s made for an alien character. The movie soundtrack is partly done by a computer because it’s supposed to be impossible for a human to sing. Several have tried 😊 “Love is like a dream” shows more of his lower register. I would also recommend a song called Daybreak. If you choose to react to that song, I recommend the one with lyrics. It makes a lot of difference if you understand the song. It’s heartbreaking. "I didn't expect that!" could basically be the dictionary definition of Dimash, alongside "wow!" and "how?"(😉), and as true for me today as it has been for entirety of the last two years, since I first stumbled across him in a random YT reaction video - and honestly, the only difference is that he somehow manages to keep on getting better and better - and better! So thank you so much, for not only bringing us your insights on his performance, but also helping to spread the word on this (as yet, relatively undiscovered) treasure from Kazakhstan - it really does make a difference, how reactors like yourself are introducing so many of us to a whole new world of music, that we were simply unaware of - often, because it's in a language other than our own, and/or it's rarely heard on our radios stations, here in the West? Because for me that was certainly the case, with playlists made up of mostly English language, mainstream UK/US bands, with the only variation being a few punk records from my youth - that is, until the aforementioned reaction video came along, and set me on a journey that turned everything I thought I knew about music, completely on its head! Yes, it is a 4.5 octave song, and Di breezed through it seemingly. However, please note that this was his FIRST appearance in Chinese "I am Singer" show, performing first in line, as a clear outsider - competing against the most renowned Chinese singers. This is not some 'new talent show'. So: first time in front of a 1.2 billion audience, with a song like this, can you even imagine... The guts of this man... Of course, after this episode went on air, in ONE day the production received 600 million viewer's responses on social networks... But this, my man, this is what makes a legend. And we are privileged to witness it all.

This is borrowed but best describes Dimash: Dimash, singing here in 2017 in French, is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan. He started singing lessons at 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. Dimash has BA in Classical singing and minors and Masterclass certifications in Contemporary singing, Broadway, Jazz, Pop... He completed his Masters in Music composition with the highest honors this summer, and has started in his Doctorate program in Musicology this fall. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has just (18th June 2020) completed his Masters specializing in Composition, and receiving his Master’s degree with Honors, having achieved the maximum score of 100% and has now started his Ph.D. His range is over 6 octaves (almost 7 now) but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it. In this performance he was 22 and in a competition for famous professional singers (not the Voice,) in China he was invited as a wildcard and after this one song was catapulted to worldwide stardom and became a pop superstar in China. He is also famous in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy (a famous Russian composer) and many of those works are very operatic, but he has now introduced pop songs there too. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register and has hit a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato. He was on a solo world tour and in his concerts, he sings for around 3 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. He is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi-instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He is 26 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum album (platinum in 37 seconds, triple platinum in under an hour) and a new album will be released soon. It has been recognized that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has billions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dear to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having He has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5-year-old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018 where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. His recent sellout world tour has been postponed due to the covid-19 epidemic but will restart when its safe to do so. He has concerts lined up in Dusseldorf, Prague and Minsk there will be others around the world including South America.
