@@MeNoOther Except in the books the Stoors were nomadic and the the Harfoots were sedentary, idk what value Amazon saw in swapping their roles, but that may be the most obscure inconsistency in a show absolutely filled with many more blatant ones. It's not that Amazon is inventing new major characters or races (that would actually be fine since it would just be adding to the lore), it's that they are taking the original characters and portraying them drastically different than they were represented in the books. While the timeline being fucked up is pretty understandable given the length of time the show is meant to cover, they make so many lore breaking decisions that seem to serve no purpose, such as having two Durins alive at the same time when he's supposed to be reincarnated like the Dalai Lama.

'Downs' are rounded and grass-covered hills in southern England that are typically composed of chalk. The name comes from the Old English dūn (“hill”). ~ Encyclopaedia Britannica. So Rings of Power appears to set this confrontation with Barrow Wrights ... in a wood ... not by the Barrows ... on the Downs ??!!! DOh! Tyrn Gorthad, The Barrow-downs, were a series of treeless hills upon whose tops were scattered barrows (burial mounds) and standing stones. The Barrow-downs were a 'treeless' chalky country that was covered with grass and turf, though at the edges of the downs isolated glades of trees could cling in valleys and clefts scattered about in clumps, sometimes appearing to crowd around the foot of a hill as if trying to surround and isolate a canker.
