This was the song that cemented Volbeat's breakthrough in Denmark back in 2007. It was the song of the summer. :D You did well picking it apart and analyzing it!

I’ve heard a lot of Volbeat, this is definitely the song I go back to most often. I think it’s the combination of having alternating vocalists (the main singer’s voice wears on me after awhile) and that switch to half-time is just undeniably catchy. There’s a funny moment in the official video where both singers are riding in a car and Johan (the guest vocalist) lifts his chin up and pauses during that brief pause prior to the half-time section, then he starts head banging when it kicks in, which is exactly what I do when I’m listening to this song in the car, I can’t help it haha

I love that your so into the composition and technicality of the song that you didn't notice, the second singer, even singing in a different language 😉 I know Michael Poulsen singing can be difficult to understand, and that's probably why it blends with the danish lyrics🤣 also, this being my first introduction to Volbeat, i am biased about the song, but I feel 8 is fair, maybe even a bit high

Why do I always endup listen into reivews of Volbeat after listing to other band reviews? - because they allways pull out some crasy stuff thats suprises the reviewers more than any other bands I can think of.

Johan Olson is a biologist and singer. I don't know how that works. I liked it. Never hated a Volbeat song.

I was thinking 6s or 7s for this one, so the 8 is a nice surprise, even if it _just_ gets in the door. 🙂I like the chord-progresion insight, and didn't notice the illusory F in the chorus before. The band (or at least Michael, as the main songwriter) seems to like that pronounced bookend structure -- as in Room 24, The Devil Rages On, The Sacred Stones, etc. In the case of this song, I wonder how bass would affect the intro/outro.

Hey dude! I don't know why, but somehow there are very few reactions on the internet of the band 'Symphony X'. I would recommend their song 'Serpent's Kiss'! It boots off straight away and keeps the energy there for the rest of the song - it's like if TOOL decided to do heavy progressive metal all the time. They do have changes to their time signatures - especially at the end - but it does contain a good amount of 4/4 head-banging material, so it shouldn't just do your head in constantly 👍
